Not the first time we've stayed at La Reserve, and it will not be the last! In the middle of the lovely, historic, market town of Brive-la-Gaillard the hotel offers the best of a simple, value for money stopover or for longer days to explore the beautiful Correze. The lack of a restaurant is simply not a problem as there is a wide choice all around within easy walking distance. The welcome is warm and charming, the rooms perfectly prepared as is the bathroom, with loads of hot water. Our bed very comfortable and the breakfast well above average with cereals, breads, pastries, fresh boiled eggs, charcouterie ,etc If your looking for a great evening meal experience, walk round the corner to Le Comptoire St Sernin. If only all Brasseries were like this! A teriffic atmosphere in a baronial hall with bustling, well trained staff and a kitchen that really knows what it's doing. We revisit Brive just for this experience!

We had a wonderful stay in Brive. The location of the hotel is perfect, right in the centre of the town and a 1 minute walk from the entrance. We had a good stay in the hotel, the bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was ample.

The bathroom needed a bit of a refresh, but it was clean and the shower itself was lovely - lots of pressure.

The hotel was large and very pleasant, with a terrace, bar and at the back a breakfast room. The public car park at the front had about eight parking spaces at the side of the hotel reserved for residents. The decor was largely grey, black and white. We had a family room, which was all that was available when we booked. It consisted of two bedrooms, a separate toilet between them and a bathroom off one of the bedrooms. Breakfast at the hotel was 12 euros, with tea/coffee, juice, cereals, bread/pastries and preserves, eggs, charcuterie, cheese, yogurt and fruit.

Sadly, there were tiny chips out of the dark grey woodwork, everywhere. The toilet in the room was tiny, very narrow and only about 40cm from door to pan, with no extractor fan. The head-height shower fitting was loose so that the head could not be put in it. Although it took us only a minute to screw this back together, we shouldn’t have had to do this - the issue should have been picked up by cleaners, reported by them and sorted. The lights had no, or only wire, shades and were much too bright/harsh. A kettle and a small fridge (as we had in other hotels) would have been good.

What a find! A beautiful, period house in the heart of Brive-la-Gaillarde converted into a comfortable little hotel with a great terrace for people watching and consuming ice-cream! But the main reason for going there is Juliette, receptionist, barmaid, fount of knowledge and facilitator. We all voted Juliette a Gold Star for her professionalism, enthusiasm and determination to make our stay just as enjoyable as she could. The hotel is so typical of France, slightly frayed but trying hard to meet expectations. Our rooms were clean and comfortable and the water hot and plentiful but super smart, spacious and trendy they were not. It filled the bill perfectly as we were just passing through.

I stayed at La Reserve de Brive on the second day of a 30 day road trip through France & Spain. The hotel was in an excellent location with easy access into the centre of Brive, which is very pleasant and welcoming. The receptionist spoke excellent English, providing me with information about Brive and places to eat. My room was clean, comfortable and quiet with good facilities.

Although there was parking at the hotel there was limited spaces and it was not secure or in a private location

The location is outstanding, quite central really. Further, there is a number of restaurants close by, both the "fancy" sort and the more informal sort. The ladies in the reception were really kind (one of them pointed me to the restaurants, and the other told me where to find sandwiches for the long way home). Finally they have places where you can park by the hotel; I was there both on the way out and on the way back and I had a place for my car both times. Not tiny places by the way. All told, a very nice place I'm likely to visit again

Nothing to dislike really. I would have appreciated a lift (I did carry heavy things). But as I said before, nothing to dislike and I will indeed return.

Easy to drive to when travelling north. Perfect location to walk into the medieval city Great idea to offer us a refillable bottle of water on arrival. Beds comfy and tasty self service breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Would stay here again v

It was central to the town and walking distance to the railway station. Small hotel in an old renovated building. They have a bar and sell gelato style ice cream

Please note outdoor seating area at the front of the hotel faces a Carpark and on the corner of roads. But traffic not that busy.

Room adequate size and bed very comfortable. Location excellent. Tea making facility would be an added bonus. Very good to have some parking spaces. A good breakfast.

Reception was closed when we arrived.. it was early, soon after 2pm so perhaps not unusual. Trouble is we'd been up since 3am and were keen to rest.

1. BreakfastIt was great! So many choices. Breads were wonderful. Fruit, yogurt, juices, all fresh and delicious. 2. Hosts greatly helped in taxi arrangements, before, after arrival. Attentive and personable. 3. Highly recommend for location, the staff.

We are older. My husband used the tub/ shower, which is quite high to get into. He warned me that the tub was slick for standing.
