The room was accurately described and more than met expectations. We had the unexpected bonus of air-con which we didn't expect (not sure many rooms have it) and was much appreciated as the week we stayed was really hot. The hotel is located centrally and parking is not a problem (our car was large so we opted for the free parking by the river nearby). The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and the breakfast, whilst not featuring the hugest range of choices, was all of good quality and tasty.
Very little to criticise. When we first arrived, there was a little confusion about whether we'd paid for the breakfasts or not in advance, luckily we were able to show on the booking app that we had, and it was fine. The view out of the window was a town view, the hotel kindly offered for us to change rooms but as the room we had was so nice in other respects, we felt no need.

We had a lovely few days in Compiegne. The hotel faces the river and is a few minutes walk to the main square of the town. The staff at the hotel are exceptional - very friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. We rented the electric bikes which was fun. If you want to use the underground car park (payment required) then book ahead as its not huge. However, note: in August parking is free in Compiegne as its holiday month. Would have been useful to know this in advance as we paid 12 euros a day for parking in the hotel car park when we really didn't need to. Also, as its holiday month, there are a lot of restuarants closed for the annual "conges" - again, worth knowing, although still plenty open! (Bistrot de Terroir - 2 mins walk, highly recommended!)
There is no air conditioning but there is a tall tower fan provided in each room. The staff are keen to explain this is for environmental reasons, which is fine but then there is unlimited bottled water provided in 500ml plastic bottles at Reception. It's a contradiction, and I would have preferred a water fountain to be provided somewhere with reuseable glass bottles or a jug. We also did not require clean towels every day given our short stay. Overall, I am in favour of sustainable hotel practices and welcome it, but it was a little bit inconsistent here!

A perfect location in the centre on the canal. We stayed in a beautiful suite. It was so spacious, the beds so comfy and the staff exceptional. It’s the little extras like being greeted with a bottle of water on a hot day and their friendly personal service that makes the difference. Clearly the owner or manager cares unlike those big non descript hotels. I highly recommend you stay here over any big 4 star hotels in tje town. You can walk everywhere too and there is free parking in a car park 3 mins away which we chose over the underground pay car park in the hotel.
Nothing. Everything was perfect

My husband and I had the most amazing week at the Alfred Hotel during the New Year’s holiday. From start to finish, everything about our stay exceeded expectations! The rooms were immaculately clean, and the shower was fantastic—a true highlight after a long day of exploring. But what really set this hotel apart was the exceptional service. Every single staff member went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. Breakfast each morning was a delight, with a wide selection of delicious options to start the day right. Axelle, who managed the breakfast service, was incredibly accommodating and always greeted us with a warm smile. What a wonderful way to start the day! In the evenings, the breakfast area transformed into a cozy space for dinner and drinks starting at 6 PM. What a treat! The barman, Paul, crafted the most incredible cocktail, the “Pomme de Feu”—his own creation. It was one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. Make sure to ask for it if you visit! The front desk staff, particularly Nasma, was outstanding. She was so helpful, providing great recommendations and always ready to assist with a cheerful attitude. Staying at the Alfred Hotel felt like being welcomed into a home away from home. The warm, friendly atmosphere and attention to detail made our New Year’s holiday truly special. We can’t wait to come back and would highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for a perfect getaway!

We trully enjoyed staying in Alfred Hotel Compiègne! The hotel is very clean and comfortable. We love the room (208) especially the big windows, and the bed is amazingly comfortable! We had tour de France for one and a half week, and this hotel has the best bed we ever had! The location is also very great, very close to the charming city center of Compiègne and close by to many nice restaurants. The Head of Concierge team - Clément and his staffs were very friendly, polite and helpful. They love our dog and make our dog felt like home. During check-out, the concierges offered us mineral water to bring so we have water during our trip. This is really a unique service, we never had this kind of hospitality before even when we stayed in 5 stars hotel. Well done!! For sure we will come back to Alfred Hotel again!

Lovely staff and beautiful hotel
I was on the streetside and I am a light sleeper. It is very noisy because it was warm and had to keep the window open for fresh air. Als the advertisement sais the hotel has free parking. It doesn’t. There is free parking close to the hotel but it is not privately owned. If you want to park in the garage you pay €15 per night. Not a problem but might be worth mentioning

We stayed one night in the family room, which is in fact two bedrooms, a spacious living area and bathroom. It was a really nice space, simple but very well designed, providing everything you need. The staff were super helpful, including a WhatsApp concierge service that recommended a delightful local bistro. And breakfast was wonderful, again, really well thought out. You can tell that the people behind this hotel care a lot about customer experience.
Just that we only stayed for one night!

Great location, charming room with views to the river and also across the rooftops. Staff were so friendly. Wonderful breakfast with delicious bread, croissants, fruit and lots more! I loved the flan. Really tastefully decorated, I took home some ideas for decorating. Cocktails were served in the bar in the evening but we just had wine. There was a lovely calm but lively vibe.
Our room was a little cold but we snuggled up in the very comfortable beds. Parking underground was very tight but day 2 we parked opposite which is easier and also cheaper.

The staff at the hotel was very welcoming. The room was really large with one of the most comfortable beds and lovely bedding of the hotels we stayed. There is a great coffee maker available in the restaurant with free coffee 24 hours. The location is super easy to explore the lovely town, and restaurants in the hotel and around the area. Loved the bakery around the corner, interesting shops and The Bistro Flandres over the bridge.
nothing that can be done about this but parking is available, and located conveniently - it is just a bear if you have a car that is medium size or larger

Great team of staff. Room was spacious and the hotel has some thoughtful touches - complimentary coffee downstairs and a nice explanatory leaflet about their decision not to have aircon.
Nothing - it's good quality throughout so any comment here is just further improvements not dislikes. Because there is no aircon (fine by us) it's nice to be able to sleep with the window open as it is cool outside. Our room 105 seemed to be accessible from outside so we didn't feel safe having the window open. Car park access is a bit fiddly as the intercom system to open the gate could be improved.
