Owner and host, Nicolas, has breathed life in to a grand but falling down town house and former shop in Montrejeau. The labyrinthine building dates in places from 1300AD and exudes charm and mystery (will you find the secret room in the 4 person suite?) and Nicolas has restored original features such as the centuries old parquet flooring and marble fireplace, the 1930s basin in the bathroom and the 1950s kitchen where we ate a delicious breakfast. We stayed only one night but it left a strong wonderful impression on all of my family. I have never previously been inspired to write a review of a hotel, but then I've also never stayed in a place where there is an old (but in tune) baby grand piano in my suite for my son to play, hidden doorways, and a charming walled garden with fruit trees from which the breakfast jam is made. Nicolas knows the history of the house and the local area and is happy to tell you about it if you are interested.

Nicolas and his family could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. The property is huge and unique, combining a fascinating past with all modern conveniences. Right in the centre of town - the tourist office and post office are directly opposite; the best restaurant in town is 100 metres away. Nicolas served the best breakfast I've had for a long time. All in all, highly recommended.

If you're travelling by train be prepared for a long, steep walk from the station. But it's worth the effort - for the chambre d'hote. and also for the fantastic views from the Esplanade across the Garonne valley to the mountains.

Nicolas cannot do enough to help you. He is slowly rebuilding a 17th century home from electricity and plumbing up and is very proud of it. The suite was the biggest I have stayed in and included a grand piano. A place worth visiting.

Was a bit tricky to find, Nicolas wife has a business downstairs. So it's her name on the door. But the address is correct.

intriguing property at the early stage of its redevelopment with a most attentive host. enormous suite with separate room for piano and writing desk. Added bonus of a most invigorating massage from Nok. only one room in action but more to come. fantastic breakfast.
