We spent a wonderful weekend getaway at the Doerr Landhotel & Spa and couldn't be more pleased with the experience. This romantic countryside hotel offers everything you need to truly relax and unwind. We booked a Deluxe Doppelzimmer mit Balkon on a Halbpension basis, and were delighted by the spaciousness of the room, which featured a separate sleeping and seating area, as well as a nicely equipped bathroom. Everything was spotless and tastefully furnished, adding to the comfort of our stay. The Spa area is extensive and immaculately maintained, with a large indoor swimming pool, multiple saunas, steam baths, and restful lounging areas. It’s the perfect retreat after a day spent exploring the scenic Sauerland, which is ideal for both long walks and cycling tours. A true highlight was the culinary experience. Both breakfast and dinner were absolutely outstanding — breakfast offered an exceptionally wide variety of fresh, high-quality choices, and the evening meals lived up to the reputation of the hotel's highly acclaimed restaurant. The staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and professional — especially the servers in the restaurant, who made every mealtime feel special.. All in all, this is a charming and luxurious hideaway that we would gladly return to. Highly recommended for couples looking for a romantic and relaxing escape

The only minor downside was the somewhat confusing layout of the hotel buildings. The complex consists of several interlinked houses, and the signage could be clearer to help guests find their way more easily

What we liked: Friendly staff Room was clean, spacious, and beautiful. Architecture of the hotel as built on hill domains was fascinating. Fine Dining experience. SPA and Wellness area was like having a SPA day in a Tadema painting.

To be improved: Room service (which was said to be every second day to protect environment) did not ever happen during our 4-night stay. Unfortunately during our stay, some of the SPA wellness area sections where out of order (labeled as defect).

The hotel is different, with a interesting internal layout. The spa is very pleasant, though as we visited it in the last day of the season, not all facilities worked as expected ( steambath not warm enough, aroma bath without aroma). But I'm sure it would look way better in full season. Rooms are quirky, bathroom on the small side but more than sufficient. Dinner menu was reduced but all the plates were delicious.

Breakfast choice was very limited, way beyond the expectations from a German hotel. But again, it was probably due to the fact that we booked the last two days of the season, when most of the hotel was empty. The room door isolation is poor, any conversation from the corridor makes its way into the room.

Staff is always friendly and smiley, a pleasure dealing with them. Rooms are large and clean, the bathroom is also larger than you’d expect. Food at the restaurant is really good, top chef. Located in the middle of the hill country, it’s beautiful to rest, hike, walk, relax, read & recharge. The hotel is somewhat of a labyrinth which is actually funny and cool. Large spa/swimming area I unfortunately couldn’t utilize. Large parking available.

There isn’t really much to say here. Maybe the hotel could be slightly more flexible with late checkout (if possible) but ok it’s their rules. I still think it’s a steep price to pay per hour.

Very friendly staff, clean rooms and perfect services. We were very satisfied by breakfast and food quality. Spa facilities are excellent for a relaxing day.

Unfortunately the Swimming pool was not available due to a technical issue but the hotel team was so kind to compensate that for us.

This is a traditional German hotel, so is very comfortable. Food is good with plenty of options. Very helpful young man on reception. Free and safe car parking. Excellent hiking straight from the door . Local trains and buses stop next to the hotel (not noisy or disturbing)

Beds are really short. I am not so tall person (185 cm.), Mattresses and pillows could be more comfortable. poor room equipment (no bedside lamp next to the bed, no kettle).

Staff was extremely friendly, dinner was excellent as was the massage. The spa area was very nice, too.

The beds sadly weren’t very comfortable and breakfast was a bit disappointing.
