A small family hotel near the sugar factory, the Weisse Elster tends to host workers during the week. The breakfast buffet is good, by German standards, and you can request eggs to your liking. Staff is nearly always present during the day, and the place is kept clean. Parking is right next door. Staff was prompt in finding me a fan (ventilator) because the room faced into the sun in the afternoon. It is quite likely I would stay here again if my “go to” location is full.

Not really dislikes, just things older US visitors might want to know before booking: No lift/elevator, so your luggage is going up stairs with you carrying it. No A/C, so you’ll need to ask for a fan I ended up buying my own pillow from Jysk in Gera because the one provided didn’t offer much support. You may have to reinforce to the staff how many eggs you want and what you want mixed with them.

Very personal and charming host and service. Good breakfast, nice and clean Hotel and rooms. Absolutely recommended.

well... depends on what you are looking for, we were absolutely happy there to visit Leipzig which was overly booked, The place is a bit remote for Leipzig but still acceptable (about 40 min by away by car), but that is no real downside, just an observation :)

Very good value for money hotel with its own parking (for free) , very nice early breakfast, free coffee from 6 o clock in the morning ! Sort of family, homely feel. Good heating system ( stayed in november). Cant vouch for wifi since i didnt use it. Very friendly and helpful gentleman at the reception. All in all excellent experience. Would stay again if in the area

Nothing to dislike

A really good breakfast spread put out each morning. The proprietor and his staff were all friendly and very helpful. Opportunity to also charge my EV at the hotel. Only 3kW charger but rates very reasonable.

Nothing to complain about regarding the hotel. No evening restaurant at premises but only 10 minute walk into Zeitz, and plenty of choice there.

Very friendly staff and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was nicely remodeled. Refrigerators were in the rooms.

The smell of the sugar mill nearby was a bit irritating when you were outside.

Nice place in a small town. The lady who checked me in kindly accommodated a certain request I had, making my trip easier. My room had a mini-fridge.

Not only was the range of dishes for breakfast extensive, but the cook actually met guests as they arrived and asked how they would like their eggs - scrambled, fried, etc. When I told him I was vegetarian and would like my eggs scrambled without any meat, what was presented to me was, I have to say, the best scrambled eggs I have ever eaten in a hotel!! I have stayed in many 5* hotels where the breakfast was twice the price and not even half as good!!!!

A bit on the pricier side for the location. We paid 100 euros including breakfast which can be a bit much.
