Great location. Clean.

The older gentleman tried to con me on the price of the taxi to the airport. He told me the fare was 35 euros and I was to pay him and he would pay the taxi driver. I guess I look more gullible that I thought! I paid the taxi driver 20 euros! Just a heads up warning!

Amazing views of sunrise and sunset, great staff (especially housekeeping), has refrigerator, but no kettle, very clean, 25 minute walk to Therma radioactive springs (don’t stay in more than 20 minutes!), unscented laundry soap, plenty restaurants and groceries in town. Very close to the ferry and the village. When you leave by ferry, make sure you know which dock - there are 3, and sometimes the ferry is there for less than a minute so if you are at the wrong dock, you will miss your boat. Thank you to the Coast Guard officer who came and brought me to the correct dock! Wifi is fairly decent

Biggest disappointment -No smoking building, but allows smoke on balcony so it comes into your room at all hours whether the balcony doors are open or not. Things to be aware of - Stairs/steep hill to hotel, stairs to elevator inside the hotel (sometimes without handrails), buffet and pool closed off season, took 5 minutes to get shower hot water, bed med firm - can feel some springs

The hotel is 150m from the center, on the top of the nearby hill. The location is perfect, we had also a balcony overlooking the city of Agios Kirikos. The view was amazing. In 5 minutes on foot you are down in the center. It was easy to find a free parking place in front of the hotel, although in high season, might be more difficult. The room was decent, big enough, the bed very comfortable. There was an air-conditioner, which is a must for Greece during the summer. We had the whole balcony for ourselves, and there were four chairs and a table there. Special reference and our thanks to the very polite girls in the reception, who answered all our questions and gave us information. In the reception there was also backgammon for free to play. There is a pool as well but we didn't try it. In overall a great choice, you will not regret it and i would gladly stay there again.

Since it is located on the top of the hill, it required some effort to come back to the hotel from the city center. The bathroom door in our room couldn't be locked. Nothing else.

Cleanliness and a very kind and helpful staff.

All the steps you have to climb to reach the hotel (well, it’s not the hotel’s fault but the shape of the city) AND the shower with only one separating glass wall, so the floor gets completely wet after you showered. In recent years, hotels have suffered from an endemic problem: builders have convinced hoteliers that leaving part of the shower open is practical and that semi-transparent cubicle-style bathrooms that let you see when someone is in the bathroom and what they are doing are convenient. Because, of course, even if you are traveling with your partner, you want him or her to see you when you are attending to your needs. Therefore, no hotel suffering from either of these two issues will receive my highest rating.

Great location and great view! Amazing view of the sunrises and of the ocean! The staff is super friendly and had great recommendations. We were recommended to go to their local “panigiria” party and were even helped by a friend of the receptionist when we couldn’t get a taxi there. The pool is great and it’s nice to have some sun loungers both in the sun and in the shadow! The rooms are clean and the air condition is good which is much needed.

Beds creak a bit, but it didn’t bother us much.

Kastro Hotel is located uphill on the rocks. It has a disadvantage when it comes to getting there yet I still found it worth staying there for the views. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool where I cooled down after walking up from the port to check in. However, the biggest advantage (apart from breathtaking views) of the hotel is extremely friendly staff - I highly appreciated their hospitability.

Despite you can see that some of the interior got refurbished, there are plenty of places in the hotel which still should be renovated.

The Kastro is an excellent value hotel with harbour views in Agios Kirykos, a charming town on Ikaria. It was immaculately clean with a number of extra features that we liked. It has a small pool with a shaded lounging area with harbour views -a wonderful place to cool off on hot afternoons. The air conditioned room had a mini-fridge and small balcony with a view. The breakfast was good and well-priced. The owner was helpful and informative about Ikaria. He let us know what was going on in the town and where the festival ( panagyri) was, etc. Some reviews have mentioned the steps to the hotel as a negative.But is not uncommon for Greek island towns to have steps and hills. Second, there is a road ( if you arrive as we did by taxi or car, you drive up to the door, no steps). All in all this hotel was perfect for our 5 day stay. We heard local musicians ( and danced) , swam in nearby natural hot springs, watched the Independence Day parade and the annual chess tournament.

Nothing. We really liked this family run hotel. It’s rooms are modest and well-priced.

Georgia from reception was excellent! She gave us such great tips on where to go and what to do. So friendly and polite! We spend a night a different hotel in the north of the island and called us in the morning to check if we are OK. The room was comfortable and nicely located.

The bathroom is very small and you can barely fit in it. The breakfast very poor for 7€. The food (including eggs) were prepared at 7am and left open in the plates till breakfast ended.

Only stayed for one night, but this was a great choice for our stopover in Ikaria. Lovely, basic hotel with kind staff within a short walk of the ferry port. They were very helpful in recommending a nice restaurant nearby and organising a taxi for us from Evdilos port. We slept very well in an air conditioned room with beautiful view. Thank you.

Slightly uncomfortable beds and a ‘basic’ bathroom, but actually ultimately had a great night’s sleep.

It was really clean. The reception was very helpful and good tempered. The breakfast for which we paid €7 per person was good value for money. The view and location was great. So very close to the port and the old city on foot and pretty close to Therma by car.

The beds were not comfy. The bathroom was too small and old in design but very clean. It was so very close to the port but needed to use stairs and then some slope to reach the hotel.
