This was our fourth stay at the Sonnet. Clearly, we like the place. I have reviewed the Sonnet on all my previous visits and so there is not much to add. The Sonnet continues to provide good value for money. The location right next to City Centre Mall is great. There is ample parking right outside which is great since parking can often be an issue in Kolkata. The staff are friendly. The breakfast is quite good. We had two rooms with a large double bed, a desk and additional seating. Our room had a large sofa but some rooms have a two-seater couch. I really appreciate the desk since it allows one to do work if one wishes.

Overall. I continue to recommend the Sonnet as good value for money. But I have to say that the property is growing old and there are some wears and tears. In our bathroom (410) the water in the shower did not drain properly flooding the entire floor. We also often had to ask for things like towels. Again, these are minor issues and for those looking for a comfortable stay in the Salt Lake area, The Sonnet continues to offer good value for money. During this particular stay, I stayed at the Ibis and Lynq Aero, both in the general area of Salt Lake New Town and all in the same price range (IBIS was a little more expensive and Lynq Aero a little cheaper); of the three I would probably rate the Sonnet the highest in terms of dollar for dollar comfort.

The hotel, restaurant, rooms - all were great. The Personnel is really fantastic! Makes you feel comfortable, provides you with all the necessary info and is ready to help at any time (literally, also 4 AM ;-) ) All the amenities you need are there.

Just a comment/observation which may be found useful: I was in a large room with a door to another room, which means the entire "flat" can be rented together, I guess. I do not know if that's the case for all the rooms, but in this particular one, you could hear everything that was happening behind the wall. Given the fact the family there was quite numerous and loud (TV on max), this was quite disturbing. You may want to pay attention to that. The guests who came afterwards were in addition smoking inside (which is forbidden). The personnel should be aware of that and draw consequences. But again - it is not the hotel's fault, but guests...

If I were to offer any advice to fellow travellers, especially those visiting Kolkata for the first time, I would highly recommend staying in the Newmarket or Science City area. These locations offer convenient access to the charms of old Kolkata, including its historical sites and renowned culinary delights. However, regardless of where you choose to stay, The Sonnet Kolkata Hotel undoubtedly offers exceptional value for money and an unforgettable experience. In summary, my stay at The Sonnet Kolkata Hotel exceeded all expectations. From the delectable breakfast to the outstanding service and invaluable recommendations from Abhishek, every aspect of my experience was top-notch. Location. Reception and the breakfast foom staff were very helpful and informative. Breakfast spread is good, something for everyone. Ample parking. 5 mins walking to the city center mall.

My first room AC was not working at all and made an aweful sound. The maintenance people insisted that it is fine and will cool down the room in 30 mins. After giving it several 30 mins , nothing improved. I called the staff at the reception next morning, who was fantastic and immediately moved me to another room. Reception staff - kudos !!!! Maintenance- zero score.

I am a global traveler of over 25 years The Sonnet may not display grandiosity of some properties but it is an incredibly comfortable hotel. The staff at all levels including housekeeping ( exceeded my expectations in the quality and customer service, my thanks to Shankar), and restaurant are the most helpful, gracious and thoughtful. The entire hotel is extremely clean and the rooms very comfortable. At the end, this was a home away from home for me. I highly recommend this hotel based on the quality of the staff ( which is a testament to managements vision of delivery of hospitality), location, food quality and cleanliness. Most of all the professionalism of the staff.

The internet service is not reliable making working difficult. At breakfast buffet it would be delightful if misty dahi, Rosogolla and a sandesh is included. After all we are in Bengal.

Good location when visiting Salt Lake, Kolkata. Easy access by metro and car. Not very far from the airport. Well staffed with pleasant staff. Good breakfast for all tastes. Very good value for money.

The hotel policy of demanding a photo ID to friends/family who come to visit you in your room is out of place. I felt quite embarrassed when my cousin came to pick me up and was not allowed to come up to my room.

Breakfast was fantastic with variety of options - both Indian and continental. Staff members were very polite and super friendly. Rooms were very clean, and they had soundproof glass on windows which helped reducing the road noise in the rooms. They cleaned rooms and bathrooms every day nicely. Lobby was clean and everyone was always eager to help. We had a very pleasant stay.

Sometimes the room keycards get deactivated for no reason. Though they immediately make new keycards and send you, this is something, they may want to look into.

The staff starting with Mangal at the front desk ( always with a pleasant smile and helpful) to Sahil at the Aura restaurant to Shamsur and Raju in housekeeping. The most endearing group of people. The restaurant is multi cuisine and food is excellent

To be honest, I’ve nothing but good things to say about this hotel and the environment. The only improvement that would be helpful is to improve their Internet Wi-Fi connectivity.

Was an amazing location for a wedding week in Salt Lake City. So convenient to walk to City centre and eat nearby at 6 Ballygunge Place. The staff was kind and helpful too, and love that buffet breakfast was included.

The shower felt a little unclean, likely due to humidity and natural mold. Just bring shower sandals and you'll be happy.

The hotel is good for stay. But renovation work is going on. That's why They are not able to provide lively atmosphere. Bar is not open. Swimming pool is not working. breakfast is good.

Always asked for room cleaning.
