A unique property in the middle of the Thekkady tiger reserve. The staff are very helpful, and a small tip goes a long way. The rooms and the toilets are very clean. However, we experienced teething maintenance issues, possibly due to the age of the property. It was quickly fixed, though. You can bring your own beer and alcohol and use the mini fridge to keep them cool. At night, you'd get a deer and a few other animals who visit the property as they get fed.. consider it a show. You can go nature walking and boating from here at extra cost.

The food options in the restaurant, especially for the dinner, is limited and is expensive for what it is. Because you're not allowed to go out of the forest in the evening. You have no other options other than cough up the cash. No air-conditioning, even in premium rooms. Although it's OK in the night, during day, air-conditioning would help.

Spectacular location, conveniently near boating docks. Very helpful staff. Good food. Comfortable room. Hot water worked. Overall quiet.

Non AC room, which was fine in November, except that the room windows could not be opened (monkeys and mosquitoes) so there was no way to get fresh air into the room except by opening the door into the building corridor. While food was generally good and varied, non-salad vegies were always overcooked. Side note: the gates are closed overnight to protect against animal intrusion, so not good if you want to bar-hop in town.

The breakfast spread had good options, and but for the peak load time, the replenishment was also good. A good toaster, better coffee and teas dispensers can make the operation efficient and cleaner.

The spa remains open only during daytime, when there is much to do. Masseurs employed should be resident - same as the F&B and Reception staff. There is scope for steady Spa business after dusk, when there is really not much to do. The indoor sports are not prominently located and need some sprucing up.

The place is inside the forest which makes it fascinating. One of the good thing is that it is 2 min away from national periyar lake. You ask them for boat ride tickets, they will do it. The staff was polite and respectful. The. Rooms however small but overall it was good experience to be there..

The room windows cannot be opened. They would fit some mosquito nets to keep the room airy (the room was stuffy).

If one wish to unwind in nature, must visit place is Arayna Niwas. Awesome 👌. Friendly staff, marvellous surroundings, great food. Do you need anything more than this?🙂 Highly recommended for stay.

Fabulous lakeside resort inside the Tiger Reserve. Great food, very comfortable rooms, really friendly staff and an excellent a la carte menu!

No complaints at all.

Location is very good. We were able to see some wild animals like Porcupine and wild Deer in the premises itself. All Staff were very professional in their work and very humble in behavior. There was one Sachin in restaurant catering who was exceptionally good. The security guys too were very nice in behavior. The charges were quite reasonable and economical. Overall a very good experience.

The premises close at 5:30 pm and opens at 6:30 am. So we were sort of confined. Not a major issue because we fully understand that it’s for security reasons.

It was all together awesome experience staying in Aranya Nivas. Property is very well maintained and staff is trained well.

Rooms, Beds, Boat ride, Bath etc all were good.

Cultural programs could have been added. Some furniture could have been replaced with new one..
