The location is excellent ,overlooking the Ganges and right next to the Ghats we wanted to visit. The staff are lovely people ,very helpful and even packed us sandwiches for our flight home. The garden patio overlooks the river and is a pleasant view, food was good and excellent coffees

We booked a deluxe room with a hairdryer in the bathroom and seating in the room plus a drying rack and wardrobe.......... Very tiny room ,no hairdryer, no seating and just enough room to get round the bed.No wardrobe or drying rack, no toilet paper and hot water didn't work. Toilet seat was broken.I guess we were given a basic room? Nothing like the photos on the site.

Clean comfortable bed and own bathroom in the dungeon. Why not?)) Every castle has a dungeon. In Alka, there are rooms "no AC" in it. Why AC in the dungeon? It's so cold in here. Very comfortable temperature in the room. And the humidity is high, because the Ganga is close and the underground waters come to the surface of the walls of the underground rooms. Breakfast is freshly cooked, Indian breakfast is delicious. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The environment is peaceful and safe.

I put 10. This place gave me the best thing I needed on Maha Shivaratri - the perfect viewing and meditation platform for the whole night. The hotel has a beautiful meadow with a lawn and green spaces. It offers a magnificent view - on the left are the fires of Manikarnika, on the right is the beauty of the evening Ganga Maha Aarti on Dashashwamedh Ghat, down a few meters to the embankment - view from the central box of the opera theatre. From the observation deck there is direct access to the embankment. Two minutes to the beautiful Nepali Temple, four minutes to Kashi Vishwanath Temple. And this splendor was accompanied by a clean comfortable bed and a private bathroom in a dungeon.

Basic hotel, but clean and comfortable with working air conditioning and a reasonably restaurant on site. Great views of the Ganges and only a minute from the shores.

Getting to the hotel from any sort of transport is not for the faint hearted. It’s about a 15 minute walk through narrow filthy alleyways with motorbikes zipping by in both directions. The hotel sent someone to carry our bags, so that wasn’t an issue. I’d also say watch your change in the restaurant and be clear what is expected re tipping for bag carrying (if on a budget). NB the booking.com room rate is about 30% higher than the advertised rate at the hotel.

This was fine for the money. Hotel porters met us from the Uber and carried our luggage all the way down to the hotel (and back again when it was time to leave). The staff were excellent here and went out of their way to help. Really made a difference. Views are superb. Also, you can get a wide variety of food and drink here without ever having to go look elsewhere. Bear in mind Varanasi is basically vegetarian!

Bathroom could've been nicer but we weren't expecting the Ritz. It is a bit of a trek to the hotel but if they know you've arrived, they'll meet you. Make sure you tip well - they're worth it!

Alka Hotel in Varanasi is a true gem! The location is unbeatable, right along the ghats with a stunning view of the Ganges. We stayed here 2nd time. waking up to the sunrise over the river was magical. The rooms are cozy, clean, and well-maintained, providing a comfortable stay. We loved the rooftop restaurant which serves delicious food with the best view in town

the courtyard type experience was amazing. particularly their restaurant part. the river view was amazing from their. I wish I will go there few more time. I hope someday I will go there and spend some quite time and feel the ambience of Varanasi. Hotel management were quite helpful to us. And we are pretty much happy for their service.

Location: Supremely Awesome location to have a view for Mother Ganga. Staff Behaviour: They are very helpful and can guide us to best possible tourism.

Restaurant : Prices for food are super expensive and due to lack of lift in the hotel the restaurant guys do not want to come for a room service. This is pathetic mindset and bad behaviour. Prices are very expensive. Rather, walk out and enjoy street food to relish #theKashi

The location was fantastic and food great. The sight and sounds of Varanasi was awesome and every thing you crave for Varanasi is in front of you. Awesome location and sight seeing. Friendly staff with helpful attitude

Air conditioning and room amenities for their priciest rooms were not up to the mark. Like no complimentary tea bags and kettles. Room amenities like soap toiletries and towels were not up to the mark

The location was amazing. It’s very central, and the view is absolutely breathtaking. The staff were always on hand and the food was nice. This is the fourth time my family have stayed here and we would stay again.

I thought the staff were a little bit too pushy for tips compared to other places we have stayed in India.

This property is right at the ghats and walking distance from KashiVishwanth Ji temple and Dashashwamedh ghat - if you have good set of binoculars, you can also watch famous Ganga Aarti from this place. Place was clean and well maintained. Staff was cooperative and courteous. You can definitely opt for this one if you’re going with Family (and they can Walk and climb stairs)

In hindsight, didn’t check that it is shared bathroom and toilet. Also it is squat toilet, so please be careful if you have some physical issues.
