Loved the old world ambience and the position of the hotel with respect to views of the volcanoes and mountains. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bar was a pleasant spot to wind down. The menu allowed for local and western tastes and was tasty. Also can see why it is called Grand ‘Rocky’ hotel, what a collection.

There seemed to be an issue with the bathroom drainage and the bathroom floor flooded. As it was fully tiled and we only stayed 2 nights this was not a major issue for us. Somehow the people talking loudly in a neighbouring room woke us at 3:00am in the morning. Perhaps the sound was travelling via the air con ducting? Just bad luck they were awake, I guess.

I stayed solo at Grand Rocky Hotel and truly appreciated the strategic location — only 5–10 minutes’ walk to Jam Gadang and Sianok Canyon, which made it easy to explore on foot. The room was spacious and comfortable, but what made it special was the balcony overlooking the canyon. The breeze was cool and calming — perfect for a morning coffee and peaceful start to the day. Breakfast was another highlight: a good spread of both local Minang dishes and continental/English-style options. Definitely more than I expected. Staff were polite and helpful throughout my stay.

However, the bathroom needs attention — the rain shower had poor water flow (only about 15%), and hot water couldn't be adjusted properly, which made showering frustrating. Overall, I’d still recommend this hotel for its location, comfort, and view — just check the bathroom on check-in.

On the first day of my stay the hotel was full with a large group. People were coming and going noisily all night so it was impossible to sleep. In the morning there were so many people at breakfast that it was impossible to find a free table. Thankfully the group were only there for one day and the other two nights were peaceful

Great to stay at this hotel. The staff was very helpful, and the room was spacious, with very comfortable bedding and all the amenities. The breakfast was good ranging from Indonesian foods to Western. The location is in the middle of town, so easy to go to the centre and local markets. We stayed during Indonesian Independence day so, we could watch some parades and walking about was very pleasant.

It has old style charm. The room is clean and spacious. The facilities are complete. There's a prayer mat. The food for breakfast is delicious. The best is its location, most of the major attractions in Bukittinggi is in walking distance.

The fridge isn't quite working. The breakfast voucher is given per day? Not quite sure why. The internet connection not quite stable.

-Biggest room.. their food very delicious. Their Staff very polite and helpful. - 1 of the 3 big hotels in Bukit Tinggi but only Grand rocky hotel gives a reasonable price. - I saw many department of government Indonesia make program at this hotel.

Sorry to say..need to make improvements regarding the water storage tank because it has an unpleasant smell.

i need extra bedding, the staff was really helpful and ready to help. Although the bed wasn't ready but the staff was politely doing the bedding. The bed so comfy we slept well that night. The hotel was also walking distance to the tourist attraction.

my stay was too short wish to stay one more night just to enjoy the view at night

nice & clean room with suitable amenities. good view from my balcony. acceptable breakfast spread. friendly staffs during check-in. helpful staff (Feri) at the entrance, advising me on where to go and all.

After a trip to the city of Padang, I continued my journey to the city of Bukittinggi. The air of the city of Bukittinggi is cool, cold and fresh. While in Bukittinggi I stayed at the @grandrockyhotelbukittinggi The hotel is comfortable, the staff is friendly, the location is strategic, it is close to tourist attractions and culinary spots. Overall its all good. The weather was cold for me. Bath room glass door for shower should be layered with rubber so the water Will not spill out of shower when we take a bath. It makes water cover the area and the bathroom area wet

The location and the view from the room. The buffet breakfast was good though they were slow in replacing food.

Problems with airconditioning that was handled badly by the team and management. Lots of excuses and even lies.
