The resort is lovely. Well designed with lovely rooms. The breakfast and food in the restaurant is really good and tasty. The pool area is nice and clean and has a lovely outlook. We have been to Gili Asahan twice before and loved it each time and so we were really happy to return and see little has changed. Also, excellent snorkelling from the shore at numerous points around the island. We saw so many types of fish, as well as sea snakes, sea slugs and also a turtle. Finally, the resort offers free kayaks, SUPs and snorkels.
The only slight gripes would be for them to have more free snorkels which are useable. As many are broken, so we had to find somewhere to hire them. Also, the price in the restaurant is overpriced when compared to the restaurant at Eco-resort. But nothing that would stop us returning.

Beautiful place on a beautiful tiny island. Excellent food, fantastic staff, beautiful location. The service is impeccable and very friendly. The romantic dinner by the beach was dream-like. I am writing it again, the restaurant is real good!
The beach in front of the resort is beautiful but not great as it's like the tiny harbour for the small fisherman boats, nice for scenery but less for swimming. Breakfast could include more dishes and/or a buffet, but it is very good. The roosters can wake you up very early. The manager has a very weird way of approaching clients, but I think it is just his way.

A warm welcome, delicious food and drinks (vanilla icecream! 😍), an adorable authentic cottage on a small island with the ocean on your doorstep, fishes and coral reef, beautiful sunsets, a swimming pool and the very welcoming and friendliest staff you can imagine; what more could you ask for! We got to spend a wonderful week in this little paradise. Yes, there are nature sounds like the roosters at dawn, twittering birds and the occasional gecko but that's also part of travelling to an island in Indonesia, isn't it? This resort has gained a special place in our hearts ♥️ Thanks for all the good care to all the staff and in particular: Mahendra & Amir (thanks again my friends for organising an amazing beachfront diner) Antonio, Habibi and Firman. Because of them our week was extra special! We will miss the daily chats, the jokes and also nice conversations about Indonesian culture (which you proudly wanted to teach us all about) thanks again and see you one day because we will definitely be back! Terima Kasih! Sander & Natascha

Gili Asahan is a true gem — quiet, secluded, and relaxed, but with enough tourist infrastructure (about 5 resorts) to be extremely comfortable and well taken care of, while having some choice of where to stay/eat. We went as honeymooners and found the place very romantic, although there were also a good number of families. Amahelia specifically stands out, with excellent service, a beautiful pool, gorgeous private bungalows, and a great on-site restaurant. Breakfast is included and very tasty, with good tea/coffee, fresh fruit juice, and a mix of Western and Indonesian options. The best lunch/dinner options tend to be pan-Asian (Filipino kinilaw, Sri Lankan fish curry, Javanese nasi bakar, Cantonese salt and pepper fish) and quite good. On-site spa is a huge plus. Sure, prices are a bit higher than on the mainland (it is a tiny island after all), but way cheaper than the US/Europe/Australia, allowing you to live well. And the snorkeling is some of the best we've seen in the whole world (cf. Cozumel, Thailand), right off the island!
The bidet in our bungalow leaked so couldn't be used, and Amahelia didn't have a luggage rack we could use. But these were quite minor and didn't detract much from our stay!

This resort is wonderful. The location is perfect- right on the beach and also walking/kayaking distance to two snorkeling spots. The rooms are clean and cool and the pool is just beautiful with a lovely view. We stayed in the villa with private pool and it was absolutely worth it. The private pool stays cooler than the hotel pool (but still not cold) so by the end of the day when the hotel pool has warmed up you can still cool down in your private pool. Staff go above and beyond to look after you. Service is wonderful. Our transfers to and from Hili Gede were also perfect. Foods is good but also lots of restaurants around the hotel to try so you don’t get bored. The breakfast is very good! Especially the chia pudding and the eggs Benedict. Fantastic cocktails. The Asahan Breeze was a surprising favorite. Don’t hesitate to book Amahelia.
The hotel itself and the beach in front of the hotel (and all the hotels on Asahan) are spotless. But the island itself (and satellite islands) needs some help with the litter issues that seem to plague the Gili islands. The trash washing up from Bali/Lombok is not so nice. But as I said the hotel itself is absolutely immaculate and the trash is not their fault.

The communication with Hendra from the front office was excellent. He also met us at the speed boat on arrival out the front of the resort. The staff could not be more helpful. The air-conditioned thatched roof villa was lovely and clean and had a massive bathroom. The beds were incredibly comfortable. The wet edge pool is next to the restaurant and looks out over the water. It is long enough to do laps or just chill out. The meals were delicious and we enjoyed the breakfast included in our rate. The fresh fruit and granola Naga bowl was so good. Also Eggs Benedict or Asian dish options. Free use of stand up paddle boards and kayaks caught our adventurous spirit. Great snorkeling within 50m from the resort entering straight if the beach. We arranged a private local boat (jukung) and captain (Hassan) to take us snorkeling to 3 spots. Gili Rengit (fish and coral), Gili Layar (turtles, fish and coral and the largest clown fish community) which was our favourite and Gili Gede (blue coral). Gili Asahan is a jewel still young from tourism. We felt privileged to experience its beautiful charm.
Nothing. Only we couldn't stay longer.

This is the sort of place that gets embedded in you. The setting is beautiful, wedged into the still lush island ‘jungle’. Yes, you may wake up to the call of the cockerels but even they are pretty indolent, the native birds are more vocal chirping with joy, but there’s no prayer call, & I like my eggies for breakfast…. It’s not 5 star but it is 5 heart… It’s intimate with only about 10 rooms, so smile and share nicely, there’s enough sun beds for everyone, and they all have a sea view, in fact almost everything does. Having a sheet on the bed was a lovely touch, of course you get a duvet too…it’s the tropics! There’s free water in refillable glass bottles was ‘on tap’, and delicious food and drink at the right times, plus alternatives if you want to explore. But… It was all made most special by Hendra, Habibi, Andeee and Amirrrrrr, thank you for your kindness, care, charm, conversation and language lessons, tampi asih… sampai jumpa lagi Suzy (Susu)

Easily one of my favourite places I've stayed - very comfortable and quiet. The resort is beautiful and nicely laid out, with various areas to lounge in the sun or shade. Loved having the SUP, snorkel, and kayak to take out whenever I liked. Excellent food and customer service too!
The first night I found a bit of metal (from a pot scrubber) in my rice, but they comped me a 30 minute massage to make up for it. The checkout process was also quite slow; it took a while for the reception to organize the paper receipts for my meals and compile the bill.

Excellent, friendly staff (thank you Hendra, Toni & rest!!), always welcoming and helpful, nice swimming pool and Bungalow
Several points I would like to highlight for improvement from management: 1. Equipment is really rundown and almost useless (snorkeling Equipment, SUP, Kajak) - all other resorts have much better and maintained Equipment 2. The NAGA restaurant is excellent but extremely overpriced compared to all other restaurants that offer the same quality (+50%!!) This was the reason we almost never ate here 3. The rooms need maintenance- no waste disposal bin in room, bathroom falling apart and constantly under water, no kettle despite mentioned here)

We extended our stay 3 times and would love to come back in the future. We stayed in a bungalow and in the private pool villa. Both were beautifully built and tastefully decorated. The pool and restaurant area, as well as the beach in front of the property were very inviting and well kept. However, what stood out for us during our stay was the incredible group of staff working here! They made us feel welcome the second we set fot on the island and made our stay very pleasant! We were travelling with our 9 month old baby, and were glad to have a travel cot provided. The property also had a large selection of toys. Most importantly, the wonderful staff were spoiling him with attention during our entire stay. The food was another highlight! We tried several items on the menu and were very happy with them all, especially the local dishes. A special thank you to Habibi, Taki and Andi for being so incredible with Julian, it meant a lot to us!
