I am a regular customer at the Borobudor since 1981. Please file me as a VIP because I ised to work on the Palapa B2 Satellie program and staryed for months at the Borobudor from 1981 till 1983. Recently stayed for a week in 2023 and 2025, Prior to that a week in 2018. I love this hotel as one of the traditional old charm hotels in SE Asia with great rooms, staff and food. Yu need to add a convenience shop to buy eatables, soda and other things sold at a grocery store like fruits, so that I don't have to order through room service. Of course, the Oxtail Soup is my favourite and also my Indonesian froends come to enjoy the soup.

I LOVED the festive decor that greeted us in the lobby during New Year. The beautiful softly lit outdoors and pool area contain many places to stroll or relax. The pool seems huge compared to most hotels. We really enjoyed the dining options. The dinner AND breakfast buffets were absolutely outstanding. There were cuisines of many different cultures, and everything we sampled was fresh and delicious. We'd requested a quiet room, and it was so. We also used the spa services and enjoyed great deep tissue and Swedish massages. The spa building is behind the hotel, and a staff person pointed us in the right direction. The spa staff was lovely and professional. The location was a bit away from the city center, but close to a nice park, and a short walk to the Istiqlal Mosque. Getting taxis was also painless.

A few organizational issues. The most disappointing thing was that my booking was not honored. We'd requested a twin room well in advance of our travel dates, but after we arrived, we were informed that they only had King rooms left! I was astounded since this was the first time it's ever happened to me during the many years, and the many cities & countries for which I've used Booking. To add insult to injury, I had to insist that it was UNACCEPTABLE and I expected them to find a solution. They offered us a roll away, but I had to PAY for the extra bed, which I'd already reserved in the first place. This was quite disappointing, but I wasn't given other options.

Breakfast is complete, including European breakfast and cappucino. The pool is an olympic poor, most of which is over 2 meters deep.

Very crowded and noisy breakfast room on weekends. An extra room was offered as an alternative but the buffet was not as complete. Two concurrent activities at the pool used microphones. Two overlapping activities: one encouraging, a few times, children to not be shy and join a donut decorating competition, over the microphone, at the same time musicians were performing at the pool, using microphones too. A noisy stay. A number of restaurants on locations, quite expensive and few healthy alternatives on site.

The reception area and facilities are amazing. The pool area and surrounding gardens are superb. The pool was immaculately clean and all the staff were very helpful.

We stayed our first night in a 3-bed suite which was quite dated. Also the AC had been left on at 10 degrees or lower so it was absolutely freezing. We moved the second day to standard double room and it was much more modern and attractive. On our last night, we ate at El Padrino in the hotel. The food was nice but took a very long time to arrive and even then, each dish arrived separately so we couldn't eat the meal together. Also, 90,000 rupiah for a small bottle of water was far too expensive!

Location is very good if you are planning to go on Gambir train sation. Staff is very good and very organized. Always doing their best for the guests. 10 points for the staff! Used to be very fancy hotel. Park arround hotel is very nice.

Hotel needs some serious renovation (some ois supposed to be going on wich is good). Mold in bathroom is annoying and doesn’t need so much work or money to be removed. Prices of the food and drinks are higher than in Europe. More than 5 eur for morning coffie (from machine) is alot 😊. No harm if swimming pool would be open later than until 18.00. Just a suggestion.

As expected quite corporate and expensive. All restaurants apart from evening buffet restaurant quite empty. Would be nice to have explanation of the cocktails instead of having to guess the ingredients. Found a dead fly at the bottom of my latte 😬…but the staff very apologetic and gave me money back. Was surprised at the degree of security but understand if it’s necessary Some guys were hacking into the pool but again nothing the hotel can do about it

The suite was spacious and quiet. Nice and helpful staff both at the reception and at the bar. Breakfast was superb. The hotel is 15min walk from Gambir train Station

I had booked this hotel JUST because of its swimming as we were on a stopover on the way back home and were not interested in visiting Jakarta but just wanted to relax waiting for our flight. Surprisingly on our arrival we were told the swimming pool was closed for maintenance and would be closed the next day too. Ironically the pool reopend when we were about to leave to the airport. I understand hotel facilities need maintenance but when l booked l had specified the only reason l had chosen Borobudur Hotel was the swimming pool. This said l'd had appreciated a message from the hotel about the swimming pool closure before our arrival. We could have opted for a different hotel or at least the piece of information wouldn't have been given out of the blue

Hotel Borobudur Jakarta is a total gem! Its location is convenient, in the heart of the city. You can easily walk to many attractions. The rooms are super comfy and clean, perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring. The breakfast buffet is out of this world! There’s something for everyone, from local dishes to Western classics. Everything tastes amazing and the service is top-notch. If you’re looking for a great hotel in Jakarta, Hotel Borobudur is definitely worth checking out.

The hotel honors well its name, with its style and decor. Breakfast buffet is good and well organized. The garden is luxurious and very well taken care of. Rooms were nice and confortable.

We arrived at 4h30pm and we only got our room ready two hours later. This should not happen in a 5 star hotel. They offered us a mocktail as compensation, definitely not enough! Our booking was for a non smoking room, but there was a strong smell of cigarettes in our room. The wifi was not working well in the room but they were quick to fix it.

Breakfast was excellent! My room is clean despite choosing a smoking room it doesn't smell at all. The facilities on the hotel is amazing too especially with the gym fully equipped with modern machine.

I would say breakfast should have a little more variety, for the 8 days I stayed everyday on the breakfast menu is the same. Don't get me wrong, it's good especially their bakery is really good. But it gets boring when you tried all if not the most things available.
