We booked a family room through Booking.com, which turned out to be a spacious two-bedroom apartment with a living room and kitchen in one of the garden wings. The apartment had ample room for my family of seven (parents, grandparents, and four kids). A crib was kindly provided for the kids. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the room due to its ample space, cleanliness, and peaceful surroundings. The garden was large and featured a playground, pools, and other facilities like tennis courts. My wife used the spa for a massage one day and was delighted with the experience. The pool was a great spot for the kids, and the staff was attentive and helpful, providing towels and chairs as needed. I particularly appreciated the personal assistance from the morning staff member. The staff, particularly the room service, was incredibly attentive and took great care of our room. We had the opportunity to observe them cleaning, and they were meticulous and friendly throughout the process. Thank you for the excellent service, Mas. The breakfast was included in the room rate, even though we had booked it for a single person. It offered a variety of local and Western dishes, although the quality could be improved. The hotel is conveniently located near the Gambir train station, Istiqlal Mosque, and Monas. The compound is well-secured, with K9s patrolling the gates. Taxis are readily available, although there are no Bajaj (the small three-wheeler) taxis.

Our room in the garden wing was quite enjoyable, although it did feel a bit outdated. The positive energy there was so strong that it didn’t bother us much. However, you could tell the age of the terrifying electrical outlets and the very old kitchen. Don’t get me wrong, everything was exceptionally clean and maintained to the best of our knowledge. But a makeover would certainly suit this lovely place. As mentioned earlier, Bajaj scooters are not allowed on the property, so we had to get off at the pedestrian gate. This was a bit of a downside.

As always a great hotel to relax in Jakarta. The swimming pool and the garden are wonderful. The breakfast buffet is great and the staff from the breakfast and the housekeeping were very helpful. There is a wide variety of shops and restaurants, making it very convenient. It is also walking distance from two important sites of Jakarta.

- The regulations around short pants at breakfast as told to my husband: "this is a business hotel so don't wear short pants at breakfast". Then maybe the hotel should not cater to families with family rooms... - As usual, a refresh of some parts of the room would be great - the taps were a bit broken in the bathroom and the kitchen. - The electrical plugs are most of them not in local format, which means we need adapters to use them. - A lot of mosquitoes in the Garden Wings rooms.

I am a regular customer at the Borobudor since 1981. Please file me as a VIP because I ised to work on the Palapa B2 Satellie program and staryed for months at the Borobudor from 1981 till 1983. Recently stayed for a week in 2023 and 2025, Prior to that a week in 2018. I love this hotel as one of the traditional old charm hotels in SE Asia with great rooms, staff and food. Yu need to add a convenience shop to buy eatables, soda and other things sold at a grocery store like fruits, so that I don't have to order through room service. Of course, the Oxtail Soup is my favourite and also my Indonesian froends come to enjoy the soup.

We chose to upgrade to an executive business room which is newly renovated (after seeing the reviews about old rooms). Hence it met the expected standard of a decent modern hotel. Comfortable clean spacious room with good adjustable aircon. Good WiFi. Grounds are huge, gym and pool are huge, wish we had more time there.

It felt pricey for Jakarta. Flashing blue light from a ?modem on the ceiling made it a bit hard to sleep without an eyemask. Smell of smoke in the lobby. Bit of a long walk to the gym. Breakfast was varied but so-so, nothing to shout about. Picking up food delivery was a bit stressful as delivery riders aren't allowed to come all the way in to the lobby.

I LOVED the festive decor that greeted us in the lobby during New Year. The beautiful softly lit outdoors and pool area contain many places to stroll or relax. The pool seems huge compared to most hotels. We really enjoyed the dining options. The dinner AND breakfast buffets were absolutely outstanding. There were cuisines of many different cultures, and everything we sampled was fresh and delicious. We'd requested a quiet room, and it was so. We also used the spa services and enjoyed great deep tissue and Swedish massages. The spa building is behind the hotel, and a staff person pointed us in the right direction. The spa staff was lovely and professional. The location was a bit away from the city center, but close to a nice park, and a short walk to the Istiqlal Mosque. Getting taxis was also painless.

A few organizational issues. The most disappointing thing was that my booking was not honored. We'd requested a twin room well in advance of our travel dates, but after we arrived, we were informed that they only had King rooms left! I was astounded since this was the first time it's ever happened to me during the many years, and the many cities & countries for which I've used Booking. To add insult to injury, I had to insist that it was UNACCEPTABLE and I expected them to find a solution. They offered us a roll away, but I had to PAY for the extra bed, which I'd already reserved in the first place. This was quite disappointing, but I wasn't given other options.

Breakfast is complete, including European breakfast and cappucino. The pool is an olympic poor, most of which is over 2 meters deep.

Very crowded and noisy breakfast room on weekends. An extra room was offered as an alternative but the buffet was not as complete. Two concurrent activities at the pool used microphones. Two overlapping activities: one encouraging, a few times, children to not be shy and join a donut decorating competition, over the microphone, at the same time musicians were performing at the pool, using microphones too. A noisy stay. A number of restaurants on locations, quite expensive and few healthy alternatives on site.

Location and breakfast

Room mini fridge did not work. So no cool water. Kept waking up on day one as light outside bathroom could not be switched off. Day two the maintenance team came and took off bulb as they also could not switch it off. Gave a new mini fridge which also did not work! The hotel kept trying to fix it late on day two. By then we had to pack and be ready to leave next morning. These are issues which need to be checked before guests arrive not after. Considering the hotel rate per night this is not ok.

The reception area and facilities are amazing. The pool area and surrounding gardens are superb. The pool was immaculately clean and all the staff were very helpful.

We stayed our first night in a 3-bed suite which was quite dated. Also the AC had been left on at 10 degrees or lower so it was absolutely freezing. We moved the second day to standard double room and it was much more modern and attractive. On our last night, we ate at El Padrino in the hotel. The food was nice but took a very long time to arrive and even then, each dish arrived separately so we couldn't eat the meal together. Also, 90,000 rupiah for a small bottle of water was far too expensive!

Very big hotel in a Borobudur theme. Reception formal but pleasant. Room spacious. OK bed. Bathroom and shower good. Outstanding breakfast buffet with both western style food as well as Indonesian specialties. I liked the tumis tahu taugé very much. The garden around the hotel is beautiful.

Rooms are not only outdated, but there’s a lack of maintenance. Under curtains had holes in them. Windows were dirty spoiling the magnificent view a bit (but that might be difficult to avoid in Jakarta.

Location is very good if you are planning to go on Gambir train sation. Staff is very good and very organized. Always doing their best for the guests. 10 points for the staff! Used to be very fancy hotel. Park arround hotel is very nice.

Hotel needs some serious renovation (some ois supposed to be going on wich is good). Mold in bathroom is annoying and doesn’t need so much work or money to be removed. Prices of the food and drinks are higher than in Europe. More than 5 eur for morning coffie (from machine) is alot 😊. No harm if swimming pool would be open later than until 18.00. Just a suggestion.
