One of my favorite hostels so far! Clean, comfortable rooms, individual bed curtains (lower bunks only), lockers, lights and shelves, as well as hooks and mirrors in the room. Stunning social areas, and they’ve got 3 cute cats and a bunny roaming around :). Staff were super helpful and attentive. Less than a 10 min walk to nearest grocery store. Quietest hostel due to it being tucked away above the street. The doors use keycode which is great as no need to hassle with key deposits or losing them.

To no fault of the property, the journey to the hostel is uphill and tiring (no elevator for the floor). Just be prepared for a trek if you venture down to the squares each day.

Please follow their recommendations for FOOD because they are all local peoples. Lovely Big Garden with Rabbit and Cats. Piano , guitar , chess etc with big kitchen for cooking very comfy lounge. 24 our service and there is a small bar inside hostel at reception. Location not that much far from city center as there is a shortcut of escalators and elevator right at the corner. Thank you once Again Guys ( cheers ) see you next time

The bed is extreeeemely comfortable and the staff is amazing. Bathrooms are clean and the living room/chill area is super cozy. Good for young people. I stayed there for four days and made friends I wanna take for life. The garden is super nice to hangout and chill. I’m definitely coming back to Hopestel Garden next time I’m in Napoli ❤️

The location is a little weird when you get there for the first time but then you realize thats everywhere in Napoli 😅. I think they should have a bigger sign on the building because when I got there I looked for it for 5 min and thought I was on the wrong place. But thats all.

The location is probably the best part. It’s truly a hidden gem and the yard is way bigger than expected. Also, the staff, including the volunteers are extremely friendly, caring, helpful and understanding. Further, the garden is taken good care of, the cats and the rabbit are just adorable and the drinks that the hostel offers are well priced and delicious.

It’s a totally minor thing, but when you wash your hands there’s non electric hand dryer or towels or paper towels. I guess this could easily be adjusted.

I loved the garden, the bed outside, the pets really made the relaxing hours after all day walking very recharging. It's also very convenient having the outdoor toilets/bathrooms in case some of the roommates occupies it for too long. Also being able to have coffee at the hostel makes it so easy to have a slow morning before heading to the sights. The staff was also really sweet and helpful. 💕

Those are just things that need improvement: noisy locker doors, sticky kitchen cabinets handles, fuller pillows (weren't bad just having clumps in them).

The garden was spacious and lovely. It provided a nice escape from the noisy streets outside. The layout was appealing. It’s homey and not institutional. There’s a large kitchen and common room. Lockers are good-sized and the beds have strong reading lights. The best part was the people: both staff and guests were memorable.

The hostel is a steep trudge up from the Dante metro stop. Once you arrive there are still 37 more steps to the entrance. The mattress was thin. Meals are not available unless you provide your own food, though the hostel has a drink bar.

Since arriving I felt like I was in a spa. The interior shows a lot of love and is inviting, feels appreciative of all forms of life. The staff was very kind, friendly and helpful. Big garden with animals (cats and bunny) and many comfortable couches and hammocks, which was lovely. Kitchen works perfectly, Bathrooms are clean.

If you arrive late, be aware that the elevator (maps tells you to use steps) is closed after around 9pm, so you have to walk up the hill. The entrance isn't very easy to find and felt a bit creepy, but once you're in the hostel it's great. Don't be scared. 😄 You can call the hostel too, the reception is open 24/7 and they pick up the phone quickly. It was a bit cold and noisy in the chilling area at times, because of the cleaning of the rooms and kitchen, but that's the only thing one could remotely complain about

Arriving at the hostel and seeing the old building, I first thought it would be terrible… but when I entered the hostel my mind was BLOWN! This is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in during my 30 years of backpacking the world. The room and the bed were excellent and comfortable and the in-room toilet/shower is a major plus. What I loved most was the GIANT GARDEN with tables, orange trees, tents, and so much more. Even more amazing were the three resident cats and a rabbit that would hang out with you in the common areas. The check-in desk was also a coffee bar and pub where you could get drinks all day/night. Honestly, I almost didn’t want to leave the hostel and see the city, it was THAT good there. Oh, and the staff are the friendliest people who will direct you to the best places to eat/drink/play/tour and more. I love HOPEstel-Secret Garden so MUCH! I will definitely be back the next time I am in Napoli.

Nothing. This hostel is perfect. It is what every hostel should strive to be.

I loved my stay at Hopestel! The beautiful gardens with hammocks & beds to relax in the shaded areas! I loved the positive quotes on the walls & beaut morals ! The cats & rabbit made me so happy as I love animals! The staff were always very helpful & offered advice on places to visit! There were information boards offering the best places to eat, drink & plenty more! The rooms were comfortable & good size lockers ! There was a big communal area & kitchen which was spacious and lovely decorated!

This is more a suggestion than a dislike.. It would be good to have more hooks in the bathroom to hang clothes as it’s a mixed dorm you have to change in the bathroom :)

Where do I start!? - One of the nicest hostels I've been to, everything was cleaned more than daily and the rooms were comfortable while also practical - Great sense of community, the staff are beyond friendly and it was very easy to make friends here. They really foster a positive and welcoming culture here - Many common areas to hang out and chill, the garden is especially lovely even during winter - Great selection of drinks at the bar, especially the homemade limoncello which I unfortunately didn't get to try :( - Despite not being centrally located it is trivially easy to get here, despite all the hills! Best way is to get line 2 to Montesanto and take the lift (doesn't work on Sundays and late nights). Even if the lift isn't open, it's certainly worth the hike up the hill when you get there at the end. Don't make the same mistake as me by taking line 1

More of a heads up than a complaint: the outlets at the beds only support the 'straight' 3-prong plugs, so whatever plug or converter you're using for the rest of the EU won't work there. To be fair this is more of an Italy problem than an issue caused by the hostel. The staff tried their best to solve the problem for me to the best of their ability, and the outlets in the common areas accept the normal EU plug. You can tell the hostel is really good when I'm finding a very minor issue to talk about here :)
