If one thought of a modest, typical and charming hotel in an Italian seaside town, something like this property would likely come to mind! A little dated and cluttered compared with a modern, international chain hotel, but this seemed in line with the overall character of the establishment. A very pleasant Italian continental breakfast was provided in the small communal dining area. Street parking nearby was very easy (it was November though when we visited…) Very easy to navigate to compared with many other Italian hotels that we have stayed at. Good location both for the Messina ferry and for seeing the town of Scilla - which includes a beach, a castle and a traditional fishing village. It was very good value. The staff were nice - it seemed to be a family run hotel.

No negatives - it did a very reasonable job of being what it was. In fact, we specifically adjusted our itinerary to include it on our return journey from Sicily, which must say something very positive about our experience.

We were looked after so well by the family who own and run the hotel. They collected us from the airport and took us back to it. From first contact to last they responded quickly and were very helpful. They gave us lots of helpful advice on where to visit and arranged excursions for us. The hotel is in an old building which is very attractive and our room was comfortable and efficient with good air con and Wi-Fi. We thought the cost good value which included a lovely breakfast on the terrace with views of the sea. We would certainly stay at Hotel Scilla again.

beautiful family run hotel. great sized family room, good selection for daily breakfast on the terrace. lovely view and a park across the street which the kids loved. mini market just around the corner. the family who run the hotel are SO lovely and helpful, even gave us a lift down to the train station.

the location is tight at the top of the town - about 5min walk to the main square then all the way down stairs (or lift) to beach or fishing village/restaurants. it can be a lot of walking if you’re not up for that!

This is a lovely hotel in the upper region of Scilla. Our room was quiet with a comfortable bed. breakfasts were good and staff were always helpful. Nicoletta, one of the family members, was outstanding in her communication and friendliness. we greatly appreciated the pick up/drop off at the train station, as we had heavy bags.

Being in the upper area of the town was a disadvantage sometimes, as the elevator only operates from 9-6pm. It also closes during ripose for a couple of hours. The steps are doable, but they are steep and one needs a relatively good level of fitness.

Our second stay in 10 days - and we booked the second stay after completing the first one. A traditional family run Italian seaside hotel. Scilla is a pleasant place - with a beach, a castle and a fishing village - and featured prominently in the Greek myths. Our 3rd floor room had a nice balcony. Street parking outside very close to the hotel was easy. Breakfast was a charming Italian style continental breakfast rather then an international hotel standard sumptuous affair - but was entirely in keeping with the style of the hotel and what we had paid.

No negatives - as above, we opted to come back and stay here again on our return from Sicily!!

The room was large and comfortable and the extra bed was nice to have. The shower in our room had great pressure. The staff (Michelangelo and Nicolette, in particular), were very nice and helpful. They also helped us with our laundry, which was a HUGE assistance.

There was a bit of a language barrier with some of the family, but that's on us (we're in Italy, after all!). The breakfast could be expanded to provide more and varied options.

The location of the property is good for Scilla with easy parking and lovely reception staff excellent English and wonderful clear instructions

I would have to agree the facility is older and not the best value for money in Italy Was good for a stop before Sicily and convenient for ferry which was our reason to stop Lovely lovely staff

I absolutely loved my stay at the Hotel Scilla. It felt like home the minute I was greeted by Nicoletta. You could feel the passion the family has for the business and their customers. I ended up booking for 3 more days. Service was beyond exceptional. I highly recommend this gem in the beautiful place called Scilla. I was helped every step of the way. From restaurant recommendations to boat tours. Above and beyond. Loved it. Grazie Mille

Easy to find and we found street parking right outside the hotel which is in upper Scilla. Bright and spacious room with balcony. Good breakfast and helpful staff. Plenty of great restaurants down at sea level but in May the lift from upper to lower Scilla only runs 'til 6pm. The walk down to sea level is ok but get a cab back up after dinner!

The shower was poor. Plenty of hot water but the cubicle was small and the shower head kept falling down.

The room was large, very well equipped with a same but nice terrasse offering a Seaview. Breakfast outside on a terrasse.Staff is very helpful and available for any questions.

Location is sort of far away from the main part of the city where most activities including restaurants are located. It means that you need to walk a bit to reach either the Beach and/or the 'touristic' place.
