Travelling by motorcycle with my brother, we ended up at Sondrio for the night. The hotel is centrally located, the hotel was immaculate and the rooms were more luxurious than we were used to. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly, spoke excellent English which was helpful and found space in the courtyard for us to park our bikes. Breakfast was included in the price and was a decent buffet. All in all, an excellent overnight stay and worth considering if you are in the area.

Shower could have been hotter! Temperature was regulated and I had it to the max and wanted it a few degrees hotter 😀

It is a beautiful old hotel. Lovely view over the main square. Nearby very good restaurants, cozy river. Comfortable rooms.

Breakfast was OK, nothing special. Enough to offer. The staff could not arrange a taxi for us, for over 1 hour. I could then arrange one by calling from the internet within 3 minutes. That was very strange about the staff's skills or the hotel policy(??)

Location was great and really friendly staff.

Spa was quite expensive. Also the dinner at the hotel wasn't as great as last time I visited the hotel.

The style of the hotel, the size of the room and how comfy the beds are. Restaurant makes great food and service is superbe.

Not much to complain about. Perhaps the spa could be part of the room price.

We love the Grand Hotel Della Posta. It is owned by the organization that owns the local art and history museum and is decorated with lovely artwork that is part of the museum's collection. Our room was very large and elegant with tall ceilings, high quality furniture and a view out over the Piazza Garibaldi Guiseppe. We arrived on bicycles and were able to park them overnight in a secure courtyard behind the hotel. We enjoyed an al fresco dinner in the garden with excellent wine from the Valtellina region.

The directions for the shower tub were somewhat ambiguous. I managed to spray water all over the bathroom, but ultimately figured out that the dial needed to be turned to left to fill the tub. If you turn the dial to the right the hand held sprayer and overheld shower kick in,

We really liked our stay in Grand Hotel Della Posta in Sondrio. It is conveniently located in the very center of the town, and has a car park on the hotel territory. We had a spacious double room, the bed was very comfortable and I would like to specifically point out high quality bedding - it always makes such a difference when the hotel pays attention to such details! The check in and check out process was quick and easy. The staff is very polite, attentive and friendly. The breakfast in the morning can be taken outside in the garden or in the indoor restaraunt area both of which are very spacious. There is an excellent variety of food, plenty of local produce and some hot options too. I would recommend the hotel as a great place to stay whilst travelling through Valtellina or as a "base" for exploring thr surrounding areas of Sondrio such as Valmalenca etc

Beautiful building in the center, probably built in the Art Nouveau style, with a stunning staircase, beautiful artwork, excellent service, a good breakfast, and functional yet charming rooms.
