I loved the staff, they were friendly I loved the vibe of the place I loved the onsen and how the place looked This was the only Ryokan I've been to in Japan that had a yukata in my size (Im fat) And our attendee allowed us to buy a wine that we tasted during dinner! We brought it back to our homeland!

The food was a hit and miss. The dinner was good, but the breakfast had way too many sour and bitter flavors. Though I don't blame Yamayuri no Yado for this. It turns out that traditional japanese breakfast is just not for me.

The service and food was fabulous! The included dinner and breakfast were creative, delicious, multi-course meals. The staff were exceptionally helpful and attentive. We loved the views and beautiful, quiet surroundings. The room and bathroom were large and spacious. The shuttle from the train station was terrific - we used it to and from the ryokan. Be sure to time your train arrival and departure to meet the shuttle bus times!

The facilities are a little older, and the onsen was dated. Also the outside onsen alternates between access for men and women. But these were fairly minor issues for us.

The location is stunning and extremely pretty when snowing. The onsen bath is legitimately direct hot spring water and the dinner experience was basically art. The people complaining about the stairs are ridiculous, there’s one flight of stairs.

It’s quite remote, be prepared before you arrive.

Food they serve are 5 starts in terms of ingredients, method of cooking and presentation. The staff members are knowledgeable about food and local cuisine therefore we had educational experiences.

The location in the autumn coloured mountains was really beautiful. The food is plentiful and so delicious- eating local cuisine around an irori fireplace was a wonderful experience! The room was nice and the bath was surprisingly deep.

The room is a little dated and several things could be updated but it’s a minor detail. Also the space between the bathroom sink and the wall is very narrow, as you have to pass through to get to the bath and shower.

Lovely little ryokan with character. Food was excellent. Friendly service.

Location was remote. The inn required a lot of walking and had many stairs.
