Convenient location for transport, very very clean. Helpful kind staff. Sleeping areas very comfortable excellent lock boxes for storing things. Immaculately clean. All guests kept the place tidy but staff would come through regularly to give it an extra wipe down etc.

I wasnt aware from pictures quite how small the hostel was. Very small kitchen area that isnt available 11pm to 7pm and no separate lounge. Only one toilet and shower per gender. Roof top area could do with some furniture or something to make it an appealing place to sit.

HIVE is an inexpensive but clean, quiet and comfortable guesthouse a short walk from Ishigaki port. The entrance to the accomodation, a little tricky to find for first time visitors, can be found up a few flights of steps at the end of an alleyway - but don't be put off by this!! :) Staff are very helpful and friendly, and all the usual shared facilities you would expect are well maintained and very clean. For those seeking a budget / backpackers option in the heart of Ishigaki, HIVE is well worth a look.

The bed was nice and private, with my own outlet and fan, with enough space outside my bed where I could leave my backpack without bothering the other guests. The locker space was also very large so it was easy to store items. There's a washing machine and the toilets and showers were very clean! There's a roof deck to dry clothes as well so you don't need to use the dryer. The staff especially Kumi were so kind and chatty! And they even helped me get some bandaids and alcohol swabs when I injured myself while swimming.☺️

I think it would be great if the property installed some lights by the stairs and entrance to the property since its kind of hard to see at night and could be a bit difficult for some people.

Ishigaki Guesthouse Hive is really amazing! The people are extremely friendly. And contrary to other peoples reviews: it is not difficult to find. There are signs to lead the way. It was very easy. Kumi is the nicest staff member ever. And she is making my stay unforgettable. She really goes above and beyond. I even got a rent bicycle for free for 1 day. So nice ❤️❤️ I can highly recommend it. Akebono is a great sushi place just next door. So if you crave some amazing and fresh sushi. Definitely go there. The Hive has a great location, close to the harbour and many many shops and convenience store. There is also a farmers market really close for some fresh fruits and vegetables ❤️🍍🥗 Amazing place, great price! Lots of privacy in the wooden cabin. And you can get a great night sleep, because its really dark and quiet at night 😴❤️ I love it!!

Nothing. If l have to mention anything: the mattress was a bit thin. But that's the case in most hostels in Japan.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hive Ishigaki! The staff was incredibly friendly and always ready to help with great tips and recommendations. The location is excellent, with everything you need just a short walk away. The sleeping pods are spacious and provide plenty of privacy. One of my favorite spots was the rooftop terrace – it’s huge and even has yoga mats, which was such a nice touch! The hostel is very clean and has a warm, social atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Noise levels were okay, and with earplugs, I slept very well. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend Hive Ishigaki to anyone looking for a relaxing yet vibrant place to stay on the island!

The location close to the port was great and easy to get to local islands as well as the airport via bus. There are lots of restaurants and bars in the neighbourhood. The hostels shared facilities are clean and the showers are lovely and hot. Each bed comes with a fan which was very nice to use! There are lots of recommendations of what to do around the island either from staff or from signs and maps around the hostel.

Access to the hostel is via a dark alley which is not clean and is quite smelly. At night kitchen staff from local restaurants block access to the windy staircase leading to the entrance. However, once inside it is fine! You get what you pay for!

I stayed here for 2 nights. I felt the place Itself was fairly clean, well air-conditioned and friendly. The pods were realitivly private, comfortable and noise of people packing and moving was to be expected. Room wise, I was only bothered by the light comming over my pod but really it's a minor issue. For the bathrooms, again we'll layed out and there is a sighn saying if one is full too long just use the other one as in the other gender one I assume. The kitchen could have used a couple more stools and another cooking top but again it was well layed out with plenty of space to socalise. Getting here was like an adventure in it self. It is a little hard to find with just Google but as this is a regular issue there are lots of sights like bread crumbs leading the way. It is on the 3rd floor with my elevator so if you have lots of bags you uave been warned. I used both their rental bike and snorkel set in exchange for reviewing them. Snorkel: The snorkel set was okay. I could breath easily (as somone who has snorkel before). But I did have issues keeping the eye mask clear and not fogged up how ever importantly it did not leak. Rental Bike: The lady did warn me that the bike was old and not to go too far. I didn't have any issues and the bike has a built in lock Overall the accomodation was clean, the staff were helpful, air conditioning was good and over all a positive atmosphere. I would deffinatly stay again

Nice pods and pretty comfy. All amenities were very clean. The common area has a good kitchen where you can cook. Location is great. Kumi is very friendly!

The common room is more cluttered than what it looks in the pictures (not an issue but seeing what it’s presented here sets an expectation). The common room can we used until 11pm which I truly understand since there can be noisy and inconsiderate guests once a while and the guesthouse is pretty small - pods, common area + reception are pretty close to each other. Cleaning starts early (expect to be awake by 9:30 with vacuum everyday). But honestly, those are not a big issue and I would definitely stay again :)

The place is located very conveniently in the centre of the town, near the bus terminal. Staying there for 5 days made me realise the accommodation was clean and very well equipped (had everything you need on a daily basis). I really appreciated the kind and always helpful staff. They let you borrow a bike or scooter as well as snorkelling equipment. I would totally recommend it, in particular for solo travellers.

The location, the staff, the calm and the respect. The possibility to rent materials directly there for a good price and sometimes for free. The staff was very helpful and kind.

starting the cleaning at 9am with the noise of the vacuum cleaner... no possibility of sleeping in which is a shame because check out is at 10am... The entrance is not very clean and the stairs are not very secure
