This is probably one of the best ski resort we have stayed in so far, it didn’t feel overcrowded like other places (Niseko, Furano, Shiga Kogan) we’ve been to and felt very relaxed and calm. We stayed at the lodge side, twin beds with mountain view and the room was absolutely spacious and comfortable! Our building also housed the Onsen and this was probably the best thing as unlike the other side of building, guests had to make the cold walk that interconnects the two wings in order to get to our side to enjoy the onsen. The onsen was the best and my husband and I especially loved the outdoor onsen facility. The selection of buffet and dinners was also quite good and we liked the fact you could change it up even though we stayed there for 5 nights. Also liked that the resort provided free shuttle to the nearby town train station.

Lunch can be quite expensive and there were no budget options if anyone was looking for one. The food quality wasn’t bad though.

We had a very comfortable stay at Lotte Arai. The staff were very kind and helpful and always tried their best to meet our needs. The breakfast buffet was good since we had 2 restaurants to choose from every morning. The slopes and snow quality were top notch specially if you enjoy off-piste runs. The best part was there was almost ZERO lines on lifts even on peak powder days unlike other popular resorts in Japan.

The location of the hotel is very far from other konbinis/resorts/restaurants that's why we rented a car to fully enjoy what Myoko has to offer. Although, they have choices of restaurants within the hotel premises and a souvenir store where you can buy basic necessities like snacks/drinks.

Convenient Clean Big enough

All good. However I saw the news (NHK and other local news) that there was serious incident at the slop on the day that I stayed. It’s properly written regarding the danger zone, restrictions and self - responsibility area and the area for guard but no mention about the exact location or incident case at any places in the resort. The resort is wellknown for beautiful views and long and attractive slops and for those require skills etc. When incident happened, should have properly stated then visitors would learn the risk and will be reminded the risk playing in the nature. It helps reducing the casualties as well. People love the place including the exciting high risk zone too so those warning is the extra help.

the room was spacious and comfortable. I had a good rest after snowsports.

The doors are thin and hence i can hear other guests walking past and some were talking loudly at the lounge till midnight. Would hope the staff can reinforce the rules in the otherwise wonderful onsen. There are some asian guests who were talking loudly while doing the onsen and thus disrupting the peace and quiet and other guests are unable to relax. Some asian guests even wore towel or yukata into the onsen and even dipped them into the onsen?! There was even a caucasian guest who was taking photos?!

The resort itself is very nice. There are a lot of amenities and things to do on the property. It’s also a beautiful view in the winter. I felt like I was in a winter wonderland. Very surreal. All of the staff was really nice. Also loved the free shuttle from the train station and the website where you can book activities in advance. Many restaurants to try onsite and of course ski lifts right outside your door. I don’t ski but we rode the gondola up to the top for views. Beautiful!

My room wasn’t necessarily outdated, but it also didn’t look modern either. This may be a personal preference. The steak restaurant didn’t have the greatest cuts of meat.

It was modern and the ski lifts were easily accessible. Hotel facilities were good. Rooms were nice. Parking was easy.

Snow was terrible. It rained and was 6C degrees. Not the fault of the hotel but without fresh snow it's not worth the money or skiing here. The bowls and cat tracks only work for off-piste. Freeze/thaw crud isn't worth the price of entry and this place is expensive. We had a car and could drive to local places for dinner and other things. The onsite dining is expensive. We paid Y6,000 for dinner for 5 at local cheap places, in comparison the onsite buffet was Y6,500 per head.

This is an exceptionally comfortable hotel worthy of a 5 star rating. Great restaurants, stupendous breakfast buffet. One of the best hotel onsen's of anywhere I have stayed in Japan. If you are really into Japanese food, be sure to book a seat at Sushi Yoshi for a culinary experience that will exceed expectations! Great ski in/ski out access with lockers for ski and gear storage. Fantastic skiing with most of it being off-piste expert only terrain. Super comfortable bed for resting a tired body after time on the slopes.

The facilities were impeccable, especially for families with kids. The on-site kids room was a great help on a rainy day, and the activities and adventures (both indoors and outdoors) were exactly what we needed! A gondola ride up the autumn mountain was the biggest highlight. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to come back in winter for skiing!

The only downside we felt is that the hotel is located a bit far from the town, so unless you come by car you’re bound to the eating options inside the hotel, which are somewhat pricey.

It is a ski in ski out resort and the hotel facilities are well maintained with lockers available for storing ski equipment. The room was very big and we had a mountain facing room with a balcony so we had a good view of the ski field every morning. The Onsen was also spacious with indoor and outdoor options.

The hotel is far from the town and there is only shuttle provided between the hotel and Joetsu myoko station. To go to other ski resort you have to take the myoko shuttle ( paid service).

Quiet, luxurious with good ski facilities.

I couldn’t find option of family room so I ended up booking a quad room where each family member slept at the corners of the square shaped room. The room was large enough with separate toilet and bath. I didn’t like the food options as I could book an option for breakfast and dinner included. The dining options were expensive for dinner and food was repetitive. There isn’t any onsite or nearby convenience store except for the hotel’s convenience with less options
