The hotel had a convenient location for catching the ferry without a car. We arrived early on the bus from Unzen and the staff were very helpful to look after our bags as the room was not ready for check in. They gave us maps and provided plenty of information on the train and what to see in Shimabara for sightseeing in the afternoon. The room was an old style but it was very big and the bed comfortable. The two different onsens were very good. I enjoyed going to the one in the new building in the morning to look out over the water through the steam. It was one of my favourite onsen experiences for how relaxing it was. The breakfast room was a beautiful surprise with a view of the water and a little island as the sun streamed in. The variety of food on offer was very good and everything was nice and fresh. We had a great stay in this hotel and I would highly recommend it despite the higher than usual price.

I had a great stay at this hotel. I chose it because it was close to the ferry terminal (less than 10 minute walk) to take a ferry to Kumamoto. The room was clean and spacious. The public bath was in another building (very close by), and on the 6th floor with an open-air view of the sea. It was very nice. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the closest train station (Shimabara-Ko). The center of Shimabara is about a 10 minute train ride, or 30-40 minute walk. The breakfast at the hotel was really nice, too, with local food to try.

The location was nice. Right next to the port about 700M where I took a ferry twice. A few kilometers from the train station and close to many amenities. There was a spa, gym and restaurant on site. The hotel was right on the water and close to Shimabara Castle. Rooms are spacious well lit.

The sounds from the ships could be heard from the room. The hours of the gym were not very good. 10am-10pm. It is not accessible to use before checking out, since check out is at 10am. A 150Y a day tax is levied for use of the spa whether you use it or not.

The hotel is exactly as expected: a large room with a small balcony looking at the sea, 2 small onsen, no noise coming from outdoor, very nice staff, clean... But the best part is being located 5 mn away from the port and the ferry.

The deco is as old as the clients: not born in this century, to say the least. So is the phonic insulation: you can hear your neighbor snorting...

Beautiful hotel, we were lucky to get a room with a view out to sea. Really nice to have yukatas to wear around the hotel and the onsen was a real treat. Room was very spacious and clean. Delicious buffet breakfast. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Good location for getting ferry to Kumamoto, only a 5ish minute walk.

Location is quite far away from the main sightseeing areas of town, about a 40 min walk to the castle although you could get a bus. BUT it's really close to the ferry port, so it depends what your priority is.

Highly convenient location, for those traveling by Kumamoto ferry. The new building bath is open early and provides an excellent view of sunrise over Kumamoto.

Original buildings onsen required small outdoor transit to reach, and was slightly confusing to locate (without first asking the staff).

Nice bath houses, nice spacious sea view room. Staff were helpful and the breakfast buffet was fulfilling.

We stayed there on a Saturday night, so the bath houses were quite busy, but still OK.

The photo might not look very appealing on booking.com, but it actually looks much better than the photo! The place is very well maintained.

It’s a spa hotel facility. The room is very spacious with an amazing sea view. There are 2 onsen, we only tried the one on the 6th floor of the new building and it is magnificent. There is a sauna, 3 indoor baths and one outdoor bath, all with sea view. Parking is free. The hotel is 2 min or 10 min walk from the ferry to Kumamoto.

Everything was perfect from the check in to the check out. The staff was very professional and welcoming, the restaurant was very good, and the baths were excellent.
