The most beautiful and warm guesthouse I have ever stayed in. The common area was particularly great, the windows facing out to the mountains were amazing. No faults at all!!! Shirakawa-go is a small town with nothing much open at night so prepare for that by stocking up at the convenience store. It’s about a 10 min walk away from the guesthouse. There is a very small family-run convenience store that is closer but is cash only (try to go there if you can! The staff are lovely). The staff at the guesthouse were unreal! So helpful from as soon as we arrived. Make sure to book their bus terminal shuttle before you get there, don’t make our mistake and try to do the walk cause it isn’t fun! They were funny, kind and always willing to help with anything at all. This was my favourite place I stayed in through all of Japan and I couldn’t recommend it more. Thank you so much for having us! We’re forever grateful.

The staff are an extremely lovely couple who are passionate about what they do. The owner of the inn is a genuine Hida born and raised man who used to be an engineer and you can see that in the way he runs his facilities, they are both extremely clean and are among the best you will be able to find in all of shirakwa go. Unlike other inns within the city, you are able to rent a bike for an extremely small price directly from the front desk, there are decent food options aswell, and both the living space downstairs and the rooms themselves are very beautiful and unique compared to other facilities in the city. I would highly recommend this inn for anyone traveling in general but especially if you are traveling with more than one person.
While the location is a little far from the main area of the town, you can easily traverse the distance with a bike in a few minutes, furthermore after dark the area in which the hotel stands becomes extremely useful as it is close to all the actual services of the village, such as the ATM and the Convenience store

This stay was HIGH above my expectation! 10/10. The facilities are very simple and VERY clean. We came in summer. The AC works very well. The staff was comprehensive and authentic. The staff’s outstanding service & hospitality rivaled luxury all-inclusives. Guests can also rent bikes on-site, which is the best way to see the smaller streets in town (outside of day-your hours). The downstairs lounge area is well-equipped. I have natural, curly, kinky hair and the water pressure was good and the water hot. They provide coffee, shampoo, conditioner, tea, body wash, towels, toothbrushes, and hairdryers. However I did not require these things as I had my own. Note to my fellow Americans: The staff are extremely accommodating already. I did see other American guests attempt to abuse this. Please: 1. Respect the check-in and check-out times. 2. Do not ask for free rides or to drop off your bag 6 hours early! There are at least 2 luggage storage facilities. 1 is located AT the bus station 10meters from the entrance and the other 20 meters. It’s $3 or $4. Keep it kind and respectful. You won’t regret choosing this location for the money. Great value and such a cozy feel.
I am picky and still I cannot think of 1 negative thing. Really great stay.

We arrived a little late to GuestHouse Shirakawaga-Go Inn but were welcomed warmly by the staff. We were able to park our car right outside the front entrance, which was very convenient. The property offered bike rentals, so we decided to rent bikes for the following day at only ¥1,000 a bike. The lounge/kitchen area was very comfortable, and we enjoyed eating our meals and having coffee with the beautiful view of the rice fields and mountains. The bedroom was simple and comfortable, and the facilities in the property were clean.

We had a fantastic stay at this apartment. Everything was spotless and very well organized – you could tell great care is taken to keep it clean and comfortable. The location was ideal, close to everything we needed, with easy access to public transport and key attractions. What truly stood out was the team: everyone we interacted with was incredibly helpful, kind, and genuinely welcoming, which made our experience even more enjoyable. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Definitely a 10 out of 10!
Everything perfect.

Strategically placed near Shirakawago light up event with multiple pick up and drop off timing. Insane value for money if you are unable to win the lottery for the stay in the shirakawago thatch homes. This stay allows you to purchase tickets to the light up event, as well as access to the upper deck to view shirakawago at night when lighted up; probably the only few days to access the light up event if you are unable to score a stay in the village, lock in a slot with approved tour guides or manage to secure a car parking space for the light up event. Literally a secret hidden route. In addition to the light up, the true highlight of this stay was the dinner-box. I have no idea whether it was us being hungry, or that the dinner-box was genuinely good ... all I knew was that all 6 of us were truly happy with the quality the dinner-box offered; and only at JPY1,200 (+/- JPY300). Insanely value for money, I would love to have the dinner-box bento again if I could for breakfast (which you technically could if you purchase 2 boxes and save 1 for breakfast).
Nothing - I think it is key to set the expectation of the room; this is a stay meant for travellers; it's pretty much like a lodge where you will truly unlock the stay experience if you were to hang out at the lounge area with other travellers. If not, do feel free to chill with your homies in your respective room.

The staffs were friendly and lovely. They even offer free ride to the bus terminal. Their English is enough to communicate with you for some basic things.
It's the guest's fault actually, they were so loud early in the morning. These people woke up early around 5am for some reasons and kept talking so loud and woke me up completely. By the time they left, it was more than 6am, so they were non-stop talking in their language for more than 1 hour and I don't think they speak English so I didn't bother telling them to shut up. The staffs explained to me try to be quiet as much as possible during check in but i guess these guys have no respect for other guests.

Very kind host, good communication. Although the house is not in the middle of the historical village, it has its charm. The common area is really nice and coffee or tea are always available for free. I found it easy to reach the place walking 20 minutes from the bus station. The owner offers a shuttle service for free once per day, upon request, but I did not use it. The room was really small but very nice and comfortable.
It could be a problem if you arrive before 4 p.m. and you cannot do your check-in before that, especially if you arrive in winter and it is cold outside. And maybe a chair in the room could be helpful to put stuff on, other than that I loved the place!

the spot is nice and cozy, especially the common area. great windows over looking the landscape in early morning at breakfast time. staff was very friendly.
i don't like to have someone tell me that i have to go to my room at 10pm. we're adults, this is not a party town or anything similar. if i need to work a bit in my laptop, i'll probably do more noise in my room where the walls are 1cm and disturbing my roommates than in the reception in the ground floor. it's a stupid rule. please, remove that, or make it until midnight at least. the mattress is bad quality. please invest in a quality, comfortable mattress for the beds. there should be a stove available to cook simple things. there's a huge kitchen for the staff, make something available for the guests please. it's a small hostel and there's very little options for dining or breakfast. a simple stove with 2 heaters would be enough.

Clean and modern facility. Owner was clear and friendly. It is a Guest Inn, aka a Hostel, so expect accordingly. I feel it is a bit unfair that other reviews complain about gaps to a Hotel service, it is not a Hotel. Rooms are private but bathrooms and kitchen are shared. Showers were great and super clean. The kitchen area was well equipped and there were a few items for sale like instant noodles, chips and water. As it is not located in Shirakawa-go (where you go sightseeing as a tourist) the Inn offers a shuttle to Shirakawa-Go bus stop. This was really good! Without big luggage you could also walk there in 25 minutes.
Nothing, everything was perfect for a one night stay.
