The host, Shada ( I think this is how you spell it) is very welcoming from the very first moment you enter. The amenities were comfy and clean. They also have a restaurant that serves food till 6pm. I had the vegetable curry and the salad and it was a generous amount and yummy. Shada also tries to gather all the guests together in the common area and he even offered me a beer for free. I asked them if I could store my luggage after the check out and it was not a problem at all. There is also a convenience store just in front of the venue, very convenient! I would definitely recommend staying here!

It was a bit pricy for a share dormitory comparing to all the other places I’ve stayed at. However Shirakawa is a very touristic town and there isn’t much offer in terms of accomodation.

This homestay was a gem about 10mins walk from the Shirakawago bus station. Opposite has a convenience store which was great. The owner Mr Sada and his wife were very hospitable, kind and very considerate. My shoes were soaked after walking in the rain and they warmed them up with a shoe warmer over the night. We had a delicious dinner - Hida beef set which was super tender. Mr Sada was very kind to offer us to have a drink with him after dinner. We had a lovely time chatting with another guest joined in too. We were very happy to stay a night in this cosy homestay in Shirakawago.

The shower rooms and toilets are shared on the ground floor. So if you need to use them at night, it could be a little inconvenient. And we could hear the footsteps when people walked passed our room. But it is alright as this is an wooden house.

The young lady who checked me in was a delight. She explained everything clearly and had a very pleasant manner. The guest house was cute and cosy, it was -6° outside. When I returned in the evening, I ordered a meal of seaweed soba noodles. It was very nice and the owner of the business noticed my camera and he showed me a" coffee table" book of old images of the town, images would have to have been from the late 1940's. He was proud of his book/ town

As it happened, they had run out of towels in the towel rack when I went for a shower and I could not find anyone, I dried myself with a clean bath mat, not a huge issue for me

This dormitory is run by a lovely couple, and is very homely. I had a wonderful conversation with the owner Sada (with the assistance of google translate). He is a very generous man and invited me to look through a book featuring old photographs of Takayama and Shirakawa-go, which I found to be very interesting. I didn't try the food due to timings, but the prices looked very reasonable and I'm certain that it would have been delicious. The bunk bed was clean, comfortable and had a curtain for privacy. I slept like a log! The toilets and showers were also very clean and well equipped with body wash, shampoo, and conditioner etc.

No complaints to be made, would love to return one day.

Super cute historic building! We had sunlight-filled Japan style tatami mat room. The hostess was very friendly with excellent English. The restroom was spacious and clean. The hours of the in-house resturant were a bit limited but we made good use of the store across the street and others in town to supply all our needs after our very excellent 17:30 meal there. We got lucky and our room was ready when we arrived at 12:00 and we could leave all our things. We then enjoyed walking around the village until it was time for dinner.

The Building is located really close to the popular town and even has its own restaurant. The only Konbini is located right outside its doors. The room was cozy and we even got to prepare our own futons! It was fun to learn to do.

If you arrive late, there is only ONE Restaurant (Yakiniku) in the town that's open until late and it's a bit pricey (worth it though!). The Room was a bit cold after our heaters turned off at night, but they quickly warmed the room again in the morning! Also the Bathrooms and Showers are shared amongst guests.

A very friendly place with welcoming people. The owner and the stuff was one of our best experiences. They offered a warm place with clean towels, very clean room and bathroom. I recommend it definitely and I will never forget how generous and nice the people were with us. Whoever is reading this comment it’s good for all travellers to respect their beautiful culture and people 🌸 Hope the next travellers will enjoy it as much as we did ✨ Thank you Koshiyama for your hospitality 🙏🏻

The localization is perfect; and even was a shared room was cozy and with intimicy. The best was the host, he lived in Tokyo for 33 years, and tired of the city live move here 2 years ago. Him and his wife are just amazing host; and they bring people together. I was there during Christmas Night and he manage to have all the guest together and making a fantastic night for all of us that we will always remeber. I also recommend to have dinner in his restaurant. There is an onsen very near that you can go to enjoy too.

Everything. The room was beautiful and comfortable, bathroom was perfectly clean and well equipped, the location was ideal and the best part were the hosts: they were extremely kind and friendly, they definitely made the whole stay a tremendous pleasure. They were kind enough to take me to the bus station and also delivered some objects I left behind to me by mail. They were gentle and respectful, and I'm very grateful for their treatment and attention. Thank you very much, I really enjoyed staying at Minsyuku and would love to come back and stay with you again! Thank you!

Friendly and accommodating staff! The restaurant was open for dinner (order before 18:00) for guests staying in the ryokan, and it was delicious (hida beef meal set)! They even gave us free beers and local sake to try! Showers and toilets were clean with towels, and shampoo/conditioner/shower gel also provided. Shared fridge and microwave available for use. Tea/coffee and hot water were available at all times. My shared room had an additional heater (it was very cold and windy outside that day & night). The bed is comfortable with extra warm blankets. I slept really well! Conveniently located 10mins by foot from Shirakawa-go bus terminal and gassho-style houses, and across the street is a convenience store 'New Daily Store'.

None - it was all part of the minshuku and dorm room experience! I've stayed in a shared room at a minshuku before, so I knew what to expect. My roommate was great, so nothing to complain!
