It’s a beautiful property everything was good food was amazing beach is nice only thing we felt like the staff focused more on the Italian guest we noticed everyone gets a starter if your order food at the restaurant and first day we never got one and the second and third day we had a really friendly waiter who gave us the starter but last day another waiter served us she didn’t give us but gave the table next to us when I asked her she just laughed and said she can still give it to me . Otherwise everything was perfect just think the staff needs to treat non Italians just as friendly

My stay at Gecko Hotel was truly enjoyable. The resort staff were incredibly hospitable, making me feel welcomed from the moment I arrived. The service throughout my stay was excellent - friendly and prompt, ensuring all my needs were met without hesitation. The room provided was beautiful, and the air conditioning worked perfectly, creating a comfortable environment even the hot weather. Additionally, the lunch and dinner options offered at the hotel were quite pleasing.

The only aspect I found lacking was the breakfast buffet. While the quality of the food was satisfactory, the variety of options was limited, leaving much to be desired in terms of selection. I believe enhancing the breakfast offerings with more diverse choices would greatly improve the overall experience for guests.

We stayed in a room for 2 people equipped with kettle for tea/coffee, AC, bed with insect nets, security box and a spacious bathroom with a big standing shower. The rooms feel rustic in many ways but are working for what are the basic needs. There is hot water, the lights work without a problem and the AC is modern and works without a problem. The bathroom has soap, shower gel, extra toilet paper and clean towels. Room gets cleaned every day and also insect repellent is applied after cleaning. One should be more careful if the apartment is located on the first floor that in the mornings, when it's cooler, there might be an encounter with monkeys that are passing by. They are not harmful. The food at the restaurants is very good. We had food at the inner restaurant, by the pool. Everything was tasty and well prepared. From pasta to seafood, all was delicious. The breakfast was always very good there as well. We also had food at the bar with the small pool, beach beds and direct access to the beach. There one can order small sandwiches and pizza. We found food to be delicious and filling if we had a bigger than usual breakfast. The pools were all cleaned and well maintained. Every pool has enough beds in the area, enough showers near the pool and the bathrooms near them are spotless. The beach in front of the resort is well kept. The number of people trying to promote their business is kept to a minimum and they are understanding of you give a clear signal that you are not interested. At the resort, one can also book trips around the area. We booked a trip to Marafa to see Hell's Kitchen. Everything went smoothly from pick-up, experience there and drop off. Our driver Nix did an excellent job. The bars are all well equipped and cocktails are generous. The staff is always helpful, kind and approachable. The beach towels can be returned every day or at the end of the day one can request new, fresh ones.

Fantastic pool, nice terrace with room. Close to LichtHaus for great food, drinks and watching sunset.

A la carte food is not that good, breakfast is a bit limited

Fantastic second beach pool that overlooks the ocean and has blissful views of Garoda beach The entire Staffs I interacted with are fantastic people, highly recommend this place Loved the air-conditioned rooms, a choice of gorgeous swimming pools and a decent on-site restaurant Beach view sunbeds – day beds overlooking a Watamu beach. One of the best spots in town for lazing on Garoda.

The Italians tourists are so loud ! The food is average serving burgers and pizzas

Peaceful, lovely pools, good food and plentiful breakfast, first rate receptionist, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, safe for children. Music kept to a nice low volume at the pool/restaurant. We were allowed to keep a room for late checkout and to have a late lunch. Fridge, kettle and air-conditioning in room a bonus. There are two pools - a large salt water pool by the restaurant and a smaller freshwater plunge/kiddie pool beach side. Plenty of comfortable sunbeds and umbrellas. Overall, we were very happy and would return.

Perhaps a bit more variety in the menu - maybe a daily special and perhaps a curry or something spicy now and then. The towels need a dose of fabric softener. Maybe a book of possible activities/trips at reception. And some kind of organised activity for kids for an hour a day or in the evening? A small shop to buy snacks and water perhaps as it is a long way to town.

The beach is great, the ocean was clean. The hotel allows you privacy and has an amazing calm atmosphere considering that its big. There are places around that you can explore/walk in to such as bars, restaurants or walk at the beach. The pool is great, as well as drinks.

The food could be better - selection as well as the quality. Breakfasts are quite basic and lower value, a la carte menu does not offer something great but eventually we found a few things that we liked. We wanted to go for squads or horse riding in the surrounding, unfortunately we did not manage to have a good contact through the hotel, that would be very helpful.

They have all services you could need, and the resort section of loungers on the beach means you are not haggled by "beach boys". The staff are wonderful, and you will always have service. Lovely, clean pools. The beach is beautiful, the ocean warm, amazing location (aside from being a bit far and "separate" from Watamu) Excellent breakfast buffet. Amazing cocktails. Air-con in our room helped alot! The resort and watamu are so safe, and an incredible tropical experience.

Gecko is quite far from main Watamu; a short tuk-tuk ride gets you there, but you really are out of the "main" area, and it's too far to walk easily (especially in the heat); so you will constantly be spending to get to and from anything outside of the resort (about KES700 one way as of Dec 2023) Food and drinks are a little pricey (when you realise how cheap things are at local places), which is a little frustrating because access to alternatives are far away. But that is just dependant on your budget and what you're willing to spend/compromise on.

The pool area was clean and quiet. Nice breeze and quiet placees Very helpful team at the front desk Perhaps you could offer a "drink of the day" as a special offer at the bar with local fruits & juices with or without alcohol....like happy hour starting at poolside....

slope from ocean to relax area too steep for bad knees in sand. If possible some steps and hand-rails would be helpfuland perfect. Prices for food and drinks could be more reasonable.... Being at the ocean more fish (BBQ ord curries) would be appreciated even by non Italian guests.If you had a newsletter or INFO-Board announcing the Club's daily activities it would improve the stay. Perhaps you could offer a phrase of the dayin english and suaheli as a learning experience...
