Central location walkable to attractions in Centro historico and Zocalo in the east and also to Chapultepec in the west, both ways in almost within 30/40 minutes, if you like to walk. Charming green and safe neighbourhood, having great mexican food eateries, fonda's, laundries, shopping, attractions, mercados, parks etc. Alvaro Obregon has the best wide pedestrian friendly pathway lined with trees, statues, fountains.and resting benches. Great clean well furnished room with a safe. As a bonus you can see the city wake up and go to work and businesses and food vendors start to open up for the day, and people walking dogs, from window in morning. In evening you can watch people strolling, resting, chatting or gathering around benches or eateries. Feels like a friendly and homely neighbourhood, though it attracts tourists as well. Staff is nice and helpful and they explain and guide very well.

There is almost nothing to dislike. Only if there was a wide lobby or sitting area, you could meet and chat with other travelers.

We have stayed several times at Hotel Monarca and always enjoy the friendly and helpful staff. It's located perfectly and it's so affordable. We will continue to be customers in the future. We both love CDMX. We live in Guadalajara and always look forward to visiting the bigger city with all the things CDMX offers. The hot and cold water dispensers on each floor are very handy for ready hot hot water for tea and instant coffee. Thank you for being our first pick for a very affordable hotel in CDMX!

Two complaints: The bathrooms really need some shelves or even just a small corner table to set things on. The other problem is no electrical plug available in the bathroom for a blowdryer/curling iron,electric razor etc. These are certainly not dealbreakers but would certainly make your stay more comfortable.

Great location and great helpful staff on the beautiful Alvaro Obregon street, more European than Europe. For walking travelers it is close to all main attractions towards Zocalo or towards Bosque de Chapultepec, both sides within 30/40 minutes walk. Locations is also close to Roma/Condessa beautiful streets, parks, eateries, road side fondas etc. Roma/Condessa also have as non touristy real city relaxing vibes where you can see families, friends, kids, dog walking, dance lessons/practice etc. in the plenty of parks, squares and streets all around

This time the the room had no outside window, compared to last time, may be due to bookings. But was well furnished and clean.

Loved everything about this place. Location within the Roma Norte neighbourhood was brilliant, clean throughout the place, room was nicely presented with a comfortable bed and good bathroom facilities, and the staff were friendly. For the price this was also a steal - we wish we’d stayed longer! Filtered water tanks for drinking also a useful touch.

Nothing. Only thing that would be nice in a kettle and a mini fridge in the bedroom, but not essential.

My only complaint is it is not soundproof at all. So all guests hear everyone else. Lots of noise from other guests, just due to the design of the building, so can't be helped but for an example I could hear someone's phone chime from my room so you can imagine everything else I heard. But with earplugs it's ok. And everything else was excellent so just a minor complaint. Definitely would stay again!!

I liked the location of Hotel Monarca. The staff was very nice and they kept the hotel clean everyday. The hotel is on a great street for coffee shops and restaurants.

I realized I had to keep my window closed at night with the fan going too, so I could keep the noise down in my room. Once, I had the fan going it blocked the noise from the morning activities.

Excellent location, pleasant staff. Great value. My room (#208) was perfectly adequate with a full size shower. Room was a little stuffy, due to limited windows but the room had a fan/heater to solve that issue. Excellent cleanliness.

Would have liked a shelf in the bathroom to put my toiletries on.

The hotel very much exceeded my expectations. The price was very good for a very busy week in Mexico City. The staff was incredibly friendly. The room was OK. The location is fantastic and the cleaning service as well as the facilities of the hotel were all very good.

This hotel is great value in the Roma area. The room was comfortable and the location was great. There are lots of restaurants and bars that are within walking distance. There is no air conditioning but the large tower fans provided in the rooms were more than sufficient for a comfortable sleep. The free drinking water was a nice perk.

Perfect location in a safe and pretty area. Hotel itself offers simple rooms, but very clean and having everything, which is needed. Personel was very helpful. I've left sth in the room and when I reurned to get it back, they made a lot of effort to find it and give it back to me. Very comfortable bed. Bathroom even not the modern one, was big enough and very clean.

The only missing thing is a window with a day light, but the existing one was also ok.
