Review Our stay at Hotel Casa Pereyra was just right in every way. The space and the staff are charming. We arrived late in the evening and were warmly greeted on our arrival, as we were greeted every time we came back “home” from being out exploring the city. You enter the hotel and step into a relaxing and inviting courtyard, which is cool even on hot days. The hotel is on a busy street, but you cannot hear the street noise from inside the courtyard or the guest rooms. The bed was comfortable and the studio’s kitchen was very useful, as we usually ate a late lunch out and prepared light dinners in our studio. Our unit had a spiral staircase which accessed the bedroom and full bath, which might not work for some people. There is a half bath downstairs on the kitchen/living room level, so it’s not necessary to go up and down the spiral stairs to access the bathroom. At least one other studio has regular stairs. Every person on the staff was warm, attentive, and helpful. Most of the staff speak English. They were very patient with our limited Spanish and we even got some Spanish lessons! Luisa is magic in the kitchen! Her breakfasts were delicious. We met interesting and friendly fellow travelers at breakfast in the lovely dining room. Oaxaca is an interesting, vibrant and friendly city. We enjoyed exploring, experiencing markets and museums and delicious meals. The hotel gave us good recommendations and helped us by arranging reservations and transportation. By the end of our week-long stay, we felt as though we were saying so long to sweet new friends. We would welcome the opportunity to stay at Hotel Casa Pereyra again!

Lovely bed and breakfast within walking distance of Oaxaca City's best markets, restaurants, galleries, museums, cathedrals, and the Zocalo (main city square). The breakfasts at Hotel Casa Pereyra were one of the main highlights of our stay. Guests are provided a continental breakfast spread of fresh fruit, pastries, cereal, yogurt, toast, a different freshly squeezed fruit juice daily, coffee and tea. In addition guests are offered a traditional Oaxacan breakfast masterfully prepared by cook Luisa. I noted special diets being accomodated although I ate whatever Luisa prepared for the day. She's a wizard with spices and chiles, will happily answer questions about her menu, and even offered me her recipes when I gushed over her food. Casa Pereyra staff are a warm helpful team working tirelessly to provide everything from sightseeing and eatery advice, to recommending and scheduling tours, arranging transportation, offering mezcal tasting and answering many qestions about Oaxaca. When my husband and I got a bad case of intestinal distress they took good care of us and gave us organic kiefer made on site to help settle our stomachs. The rooms and dining area are impeccably clean. The open air courtyard and fountain are clean and well-maintained.

Leaving Hotel Casa Pereyra

I can’t praise this property enough! The staff were all so friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable, spacious and cleaned every day. The desk is manned 24 hours and the staff’s dedication is heart warming. Every member of staff made us feel like we were family. The chef, Luisa., cooked a different delicious home made, traditional Mexican breakfast each day and you could help yourself to yoghurt, bread, fresh fruit, juice and hot drinks. Cesar the owner would patiently help me with info or taxi bookings every day as I have no Spanish. Elena, Sara and Juan Carlos were equally helpful with a warm welcome and glass of Mezcal every time we arrived “home’ The maids Juanita and Rocia were fab, helpful and always smiling . I want to live there! The courtyard was beautifully decorated and guests were invited to place photos on the ofrenda for Day of the Dead and join in with a meal with the staff and family. My favourite food all week was consistently Luisa’s at the hotel. The hotel is perfectly placed, just 10 to 15 minutes walk from Zocolo, November 20 market and Santo Domingo. The hotel was almost opposite Plaza de la Danza where many of the DOTD parades ended with a concert, and also Soledad square where you can buy the famous Nieves ice drinks. Less than five mins walk past the Soledad is a delicious and cheap night taco stand and near to the Lucha Libre Pepe Cisero arena which is a weekly Sunday pop up event in a car park. We were so close to everything we wanted to see yet once inside the hotel we were in a peaceful quiet bubble. I will return!

My wife and I recently stayed 5 nights at Hotel Casa Pereyra for our honeymoon and we can honestly say that the experience was amazing! Cesar and Sara were so kind and accommodating, all of the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome.  Every morning an amazing breakfast is served that includes homemade yogurt, granola, and some of the best fresh fruit I’ve ever had. A delicious traditional hot Mexican breakfast is also served, which changes daily! Breakfast is from 8am-10am but they will accommodate an earlier breakfast if requested, we took advantage of this whenever we had early morning excursions. The staff also have great recommendations for restaurants and street food around the city. All of their recommendations ended up being delicious!
 The hotel itself is the perfect atmosphere for a honeymoon, it’s so beautiful and romantic. It’s also conveniently located within walking distance to many attractions including Mercado 20 de Noviembre and Mercado Benito Juárez. I would recommend Hotel Casa Pereyra to anyone visiting Oaxaca city!

Our stay truly was a “ home away from home “.. We didn’t expect to have a cooked breakfast but we did & it was different every day . All the staff could not do enough for us… anything we needed 👍🏻DONE … would we stay again ..ABSOLUTELY… the shared interval courtyard was a large part of the reason we chose Hotel Casa Pereyra ! Oaxaca is a busy city & being in the centre this was a quiet , beautiful oasis. Thank you Cesar , Sarah, Yuan, Yuanita, Luisa & Dael for making our stay at Hotel Cass Pereyra so memorable !

The breakfasts were fantastic! Each morning there was a different and delicious hot breakfast throughout the week. In addition to the hot breakfast, they had fresh fruit, juice, yogurt, granola, and coffee every morning. The hotel was centrally located, making all of the major museums, restaurants, and zocalo easily walkable. The hotel staff was a particular high point. They suggested and arranged informative side tours and they assisted with all of our needs.

Sarah and Cesar the owners are absolutely amazing. They offer a beautiful oasis in the heart of the city where you can relax, meet new people and plan your next adventure in the region. The rest of the staff was just as nice and helpful as Sarah and Cesar. I had the pleasure of trying the mezcal upon arrival which was very nice. Sarah and Cesar made a reservation to a nearby restaurant for my first evening based on my arrival time knowing it would be easier for me not to have to worry about finding a place to eat at 9pm. That was such a nice touch and an indication of how much they care about their guests. The breakfast every morning was just wonderful. The food was handmade to order and delicious. I highly recommend it. Sarah and Cesar helped with my tour reservations as well. They booked me a private car with a person who spoke English to take me around the various sites I wanted to see. Additionally every night they made dinner reservations for me to enjoy some of the best food in the city. Hotel Pereyra is a beautiful and quiet retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the city yet within walking distance to all the major attractions in the city. Sarah and Cesar are the most attentive hosts and go above and beyond to make their guests’ experience unique and memorable. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to visit Oaxaca.

A well located Casa, near Zocalo. Its a lovely comfortable place, with beautiful garden and nicely decorated rooms in mexican style. I loved every minute staying here and felt at home. The hosts were so warm and welcoming that it made my stay so pleasant and unforgetable. I had coffee and breakfast when i needed it ( much earlier then the hotel would normally offer breakfast).they made recommendations to amazing restaurants and places to see and expressed genuine care about my comfort during the stay and offered service for anything that i needed. I plan to visit Oaxaca again and for sure i would love to stay at Casa Pereyra again.Thank you!

We had a wonderful stay at the Casa Pereyra. The rooms felt more like an apartment which was perfect for a longer stay (8 days). It was really nice to have an upstairs bedroom with a downstairs living space and 2 bathrooms. The front desk staff were lovely and the breakfast was delicious. The location was good with a lot of restaurants nearby - it was a 5 minute walk to Zocalo and about 15-20 minutes to the Santo Domingo area. We would stay here again if we're visiting Oaxaca City.

Breakfast was yogurt, fresh fruit (amazing sweet and ripe papaya, mango or pineapple . . .), coffee, tea, muesli, toast - all available to self serve and a cooked breakfast was also offered between 8-10am, if desired. Always fresh and delicious. The staff are what make this the most excellent lodging - only 9 rooms and many staff make for a personalized and very welcoming experience. Due to our limited Spanish, we took our hosts up on their generous offers to arrange taxis, tour guides, etc. Their restaurant recommendations from safe local street food to fine dining were all spot-on. The garden area with tables was where we perched before dinner with small glasses of the house mezcal. We truly felt like we were (finally) on vacation. The bed was very comfortable and despite being on a busy street, we had no road noise (though we did keep windows shut at night). The rooms are immaculately clean, including our private balcony floor! We walked everywhere and used taxis for leaving the city for excursions - nearby Monte Alban, La Cumbre, Hierve el Agua (a must), Teotitlan del Valle (another must) and the Tule tree . . . Market at Mitla.

No suggestions! We were there for 8 nights and all was so smooth. For walking, the first few blocks are busy due to their location but they are close to everything you might want to see in the city.
