I had an absolutely amazing experience at Bahia Marin Vilankulo! From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel incredibly welcome with their warm hospitality and attention to detail. The location is simply stunning – breathtaking ocean views, pristine beaches, and a peaceful atmosphere that makes it the perfect getaway. My room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and impeccably clean, with all the amenities I could need for a comfortable stay. The food was outstanding! Every meal was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, with plenty of delicious seafood options. The breakfast, enjoyed with a view of the ocean, was a highlight of my stay. The hotel also offers fantastic activities – from island excursions to snorkeling and sunset dhow cruises. Whether you want adventure or relaxation, this place has it all. Overall, Bahia Mar exceeded all my expectations. If you’re visiting Vilankulo, this is the place to stay. I can’t wait to return!

The staff is just amazing. Always available, extremely efficient, open and truly caring human beings. They even took the time to teach a local game to me and my husband. Such a lovely place, rather big but that can keep a very welcoming/cozy/relaxed vibe. We felt like at home. Food is great and the views are just amazing. Property is sustainable and green as well. Massages at the spa brought us in heaven. Loved the small notes about local shells that were left on our bed every night, so interesting to read and such a nice detail. As it was our honeymoon, we were gifted with champagne on arrival, 30 min spa treatment and a seafood dinner for 2. Breakfasts were also included in the price. A wonderful experience. We won’t easily forget Bahia Mar.

The possibility of doing a tour of the village and local market (25usd) and the additional fees to have lunch with a local family. Great to have the opportunity to explore and discover the culture of Inhambane and Vilankulos. Great cause residents can benefit from it but, living in Mozambique and having lived/worked in other cities in Central Africa as well, it felt a bit cringe especially after hearing several comments of guests who came back from the tour. Two were really satisfied as they “even got pictures of poor children of Vilankulo”.

I honestly don't think that the pictures on booking do this place enough justice. The hotel is in a beautiful location, right on the beach. The water was pristine and so calm during our stay. We had sea view rooms that faced the sunrise. We had a deck with lounge chairs from which to enjoy a bit of sun and privacy. The rooms were much better than we had expected based on the pictures. It also has a fairly large fitness area, with much more equipment than expected. What we loved most though was the hospitality. Everyone from the front of the house to the back office staff was so attentive and nice. They helped us book a couple of activities and went out of their way to organize a hair appt for my mom. Raquel, one of the managers, checked in on guests regularly and would stop to chat and patiently answer all of our questions. We interacted with a lot of people in a short period of time but especially Elias at reception, who helped with the appt, and Mauricio, Raul & Raquel (different person) at the restaurant were fantastic.

It's not really something we didn't like but the stairs to the rooms are a bit steep and awkward. The staff carried our luggage to and from the room so that wasn't an issue but they were a bit tricky for my mom. We wished that there had been a couple more hot options for breakfast. Lastly, it would be nice for the water in the room to be restocked every day.

Food extremely expensive, way too high

Delicious breakfast with good choice of options. Beautiful relaxing hotel and lovely spacious room.

Could do with a nespresso or similar coffee machine in the room. Pillows are important to me and these were ok but softer goose feather filled ones would be much better. The beach is nice but some sun loungers set on the beach would be good rather than just chairs under the hut that are there.

The hotel is beautiful, very well located, and the staff is something else! It is unbelievable how amazing they are (kudos for Fernando, João, and Castro here). We had a big problem with money during the imigration and they supported us the whole time, going with my husband to an ATM and leaving one person to take care of me at the airport. They make tasteful caipirinhas and food is good. If you need something, just ask them, they try everything to make it real for you, really. If you want to visit Bazaruto Island I really recommend to book with them, I saw the other boats and the hotel partner was indeed better. Their beach is very good, I was a little bit afraid by some pictures I saw, but don't worry, it is awesome!

Although the breakfast is delicious, it is repetitive. Everyday we had basically the same thing. They don't have bikes anymore and the pool table is broken. At last, I think the mattress is a little bit uncomfortable. But, overall, it was an amazing experience, I would definitely be back!

The food at the restaurant doesnt match the quality of the hotel. They should def work on the Menu this year.

The staff, food, pool, bedroom and grounds were amazing. The gym and spa were also really well equipped.

The bed. It was soft and sunk in the middle, making it an uncomfortable sleep which is a shame because on holiday I want good rest.
