It is a very cosy, quite and relaxed place to be. The location is next to the German border which makes it easy to go shop there. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast makes me want to clme back again!

Only one thing. the toilet brush was not clean. That was the only thing that we noticed.

The owners of the property are exceptionally friendly and kind, they made us feel welcome right away. The breakfast was very good. The room was completely clean and nice. The small town center is in walking distance. The drive to Winterswijk is also not bad.

The room was clean and guests are provided with free snacks and free beverages in a refrigerator. So, in principle, the management provides what it promises.

Judging solely by the comments in the guest book lying in our room, almost all the guests here are Dutch. I spoke to the owner and he agreed that non-Dutch guests need instructions for operating the TV. I also explained to him that the wifi didn't work because the password given in the guest information needed to be shown exactly as it had to be entered, not with letters both underlined and capitalized, which you can't enter using a smart phone. The owner disputed that the password was shown that way. I hope that in the meantime he has checked this in our room information. The owner promised in advance of our arrival that we would be emailed a code the night before or morning of our arrival to gain access to our room, but after waiting until mid-day we decided we'd better call up and remind him. The information booklet for guests is heavy on warnings about what will happen if the guest does this or that, as if written by a lawyer; most hotels in my experience keep these to a minimum to avoid creating a negative impression. Perhaps this is a cultural difference, although we didn't encounter the same phenomenon in Amsterdam. According to the guest information booklet, people with service dogs are charged 10€ extra per night. Again, perhaps a cultural difference. The hotel website says it provides "adults-only accommodation". Fair enough, but I don't think this has to be repeated in the information booklet (which, logically, you can only read after you have checked in) using the German "komplett Kinderfrei" or English "completely child-free", phrasing which might alienate some guests who like children, even if they've chosen to stay at the hotel. I mentioned some but not all of these points to the owner, not wishing to prolong the conversation. They can all be eliminated if the will is there.
