This is a character house that has been thoughtfully and eclectically renovated to accommodate multiple guests. Warm and cosy with lots of personality! Right on the Rail Trail. Breakfast had lots of homemade preserves and loved the farm fresh eggs. The in floor heating in the bathroom was great for a cool morning. I wish the weather had been more agreeable to enjoy the outdoor setting as this looked absolutely beautiful.

I didn’t realise the bathrooms were shared with other guests - my bad for not taking notice of that. But there were two large bathrooms available, so that was a plus!

This is different! It is definitely not for those who want luxury but it was absolutely delightful. It's an old house where you are each given a really quaint bedroom There are two 'shared bathrooms' - just gorgeous and then you have the kitchen/lounge room where you can mingle with people from all walks of life. Breakfast provided and it was great. Look, if you want something a bit different, this place is it.

Can't think of anything really.

We stayed here as 3 couples cycling on the Otago Rail Trail. We were fortunate to have house to ourselves. Very quaint. Breakfast provisions were wonderful. We would recommend adding it to your stay on the Trail. Outside covered area with charging facilities for the e-bike riders.

Beds were very old and mattresses didn’t really provide support.. could upgrade these for very little cost and it would make for a more comfortable sleep.

We had the house to ourselves as there were no other guests. The owner was friendly and informative and then gave us our own space. The home is decorated very nicely and effort had been made to share the history of the house, which was very interesting and a nice touch. It was very Cody having the fire hoping and the heated floor in the bathroom was appreciated. Breakfast was simple and delicious.

Very friendly and kind host who opened the home to us early. Had the entire home to ourselves so we did not have to share the bathroom which was very nice. Living room was comfortable and stylish. The home is immediately adjacent to the Otago Rail Trail so it was very convenient. The gardens are spectacular.

toilet was old and had difficulty draining. Shower floor was slippery for seniors.

Eclectic, lovely setting, very nice gardens, great record collection, plenty of towels, rooms were very comfortable, wonderful breakfast, awesome ground coffee and great hosts.

No flow through air, could have had fly screens on the windows and doors. Needed paper towel or serviettes in the kitchen. Outdoor furniture is very dated.

Location was perfect for cycling the Otago Rail Trail as it is just metres off the trail and well signposted. I got lucky and had the house to myself. Loved the decor and the feel of the house. Shower was great and bed very comfortable. The breakfast was fab as almost everything was home made.

Lovely, quaint old home with a gorgeous outdoor setting. The fireplace in the open living area made the house very cozy.

This is not a criticism on the accommodation at all but if you are a larger group as we were (8), book well ahead if you want to dine at the local pub. It is the only place to eat without needing to drive and they could not take us even though they only had 15 in for dinner the night we were there!

We loved the ambience of the place. We enjoyed conversations with the other like minded travellers. Plenty of reading material and supplies in general . Breakfast was simply superb. Fresh and plentiful.

My wife is allergic to cats, and this would be the only negative of our experience. Also, an extra sign pointing to the red gate might be beneficial to cyclists on the Rail Trail.

Great kitchen and living areas for cooking and hanging out. Had extra sleepout room so two parties could have a space each if they wanted. Wonderful showers! Plus the most delicious breakfast with eggs from the hens on the property and stewed fruits with granola.
