Very nice property facing the water. The rooms are a decent size. Wasn’t too far into town (taxis aren’t cheap though). The breakfast spread is impressive and tasty.

The walls are paper thin so you can hear a lot of what happens next to you. It’s a bed and breakfast rather than a hotel. So there are no lifts, you have to traverse the stairs which people with mobility issues might want to consider. No clothes washing facilities.

The team went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. It was so appreciated to have friendly faces greet us every morning and be able to provide advice on how to navigate the ever-changing Arctic Circle weather. The views were incredible and we lucked out waking up to snowy vistas in the morning and being able to see the Aurora from the comfort of glass enclosed lounges at night. We also got incredible insight into the wonders of dog sledding being able to follow the guesthouse owner as he took on the Finnmarkslopet. Big bonus is having delicious hot chocolate and coffee on tap! Thank you for a great stay!

There was a room accessible to all guests, with two comfortable armchairs and a view to the fjord. Just amazing place to relax in the evening. The breakfast was very good. The owner was very quick to respond and accommodating. Well communicated by busses with the city center (with long distance coaches to other cities), the airport and ferry harbour and the Alta museum.

This place, but also every other place in Norway, has a very peculiar concept of "two separate beds". They put the beds together, with a single bedsheet spanning both. Not a big deal for me, but this can lead to awkwardness if someone actually needs two separate beds.

This hotel is unique for so many reasons.. it's in a very quiet and peaceful place (mind you that Alta center is quite far if you move by foot.. around 30 minutes to reach the famous church). The walk to get to Alta center is quite pleasant so I suggest you try it at least once; if you prefer taking the bus instead, there's a bus stop not too far away. In front of the hotel there's the beautiful fjord, watch always the sky as the northern lights might appear right above the hotel (look at the picture). The room was quite comfortable but a little cold despite the heating system; I chose the fjord view and you could admire it from the room. The bathroom has a heated floor and the bed has a nice and super warm duvet. The hotel has no spa however there's a sauna in a shared room. The breakfast buffet has many options (salmon, other fish, even gluten free gallets, gluten cakes..) and everything is really tasty.. I appreciated the wide choice (really superb.. you can easily skip lunch after such a beautiful breakfast). There is a free beverage machine you can use throughout the day and there are 2 free massaging chairs too (you can sit there admiring the fjord). This hotel deserves a 10 however the tenant is quite hostile towards clients: the hotel is full of signs of prohibitions regarding smoking and check-out that has to be done in time. I actually can understand those however I would have liked to see some welcoming signs too. There's no reception service basically!! There's a little range of hours where you can find reception and for the rest of the day there's none. I expect from a hotel that reception service has to be assured for most of the day. The buffet closes at the time (9:30 if I remember correctly) and if you are seated already you can't take any more food -> I understand there must be rules about breakfast times, however there should be some flexibility.

A massive thank you to the reception for accepting early check-in and a slightly late check-out. I'm beyond grateful for the understanding and flexibility. Team was rather responsive and supportive via messages on Booking.com. Delicately decorated premise full of paintings, humorous notices/tips, plus amazing amenities in relax zones/two lounge areas. Vegan-vegetarian friendly terrific breakfast spread with superb variety - plus magnificent view of the fjord. Being welcomed by music on the night stand's radio was comforting. I thoroughly enjoyed staying here and warmly recommend this property to all.

The only aspect I didn't appreciate as much was the lack of sound insulation. I requested a quiet room and was given a room right by the entrance where footsteps,every entry/exit, movements in the hallway and conversations from neighboring room were audible. I didn't opt for a room change because other features of the property made up for the shortcoming.

It is a beautiful guesthouse. Unique deco. We take taxi outside the airport. It is near driving. The guesthouse is not near town but not far either. Can walk, maybe half hour. Can walk to a petrol kiosk that sells burgers and others.. The breakfast spread is very good! The owner also pack breakfast for us for our early activity and departure. She is very accommodating. The room is good size for 2 people. We saw a small Aurora here outside the house. Heavy snow still at end of March.

The room is really thoughtful with the Guests needs. Great bed and linen, radio, reading lights, cloth hangers, cosy sofas, heated toilet flooring and delightful views. Breakfast has everything you could need in the morning. The breakfast staff is really attentive and it makes you feel at home. It is the perfect small Hotel to give some quiet time to yourself and have a nice and deserved rest. Thank you very much for the Manager's and Staff hard work.

We stayed for one night and felt completely comfortable – 10 out of 10! The room was very clean and exactly as described. Breakfast was a real highlight, with a stunning view of the fjord, a rich selection, and everything fresh and delicious. The host was extremely friendly – we had a lovely conversation and received great tips for the area. It was our second time here, and we would come back anytime!

There was absolutely nothing negative – everything was perfect.

If I could give this place a 20 out of 10 I would!! It is the most gorgeous place I have been to. The breakfast had a lot of options you could think of, from breads, cerals, hot food, cold meats, fruits, to name a few! The lady who owns the hotel is the most amazing woman I have ever met. She helped me with booking taxi's, getting the bus timetables for me, to even heating up my dinner that I had purchased from the supermarket. There were massage chairs that I sat in for hours as I went in the low season of Winter and there wasn't many people staying there. The views from my room were absolutely gorgeous and easy to view the Northern lights from when they made an appearance. The whole place was so cosy and comfortable, not to mention very warm inside the whole place. There were amazing chocolates on the bottom floor which were also to die for, the bed was so comfortable and soft and I could of laid in it forever. I am recommending Altafjord to everyone I know and I definitely want to come back for Midnight summer.

Everything was perfect.

I was alone....though my room did not face the lake but it was still very nice. It had two open areas with comfy sofas and two massage chairs which I used a lot. The breakfast was amazing. The views were incredible. The fact that you can always have tea , coffee and a biscuits on no charge was really nice. It was only 20 mins walk from centrum which had amazing views. The gold explorer for the northern light do a pick up directly from the house Both ladies at the reception was very sweet.

My check in started at 1pm only but I had arrived at 12 noon. It was fine but It would have nice to let me in at 12 noon into the common areas atleast :-/ It was cold to wait outside. Basically the place locks you out till you a get a pin-code at 1pm.
