An excellent family-run hotel. Nothing was too much trouble and attention to detail was top notch. The views are absolutely stunning from the bar and terrace areas and we were lucky enough to have booked a spacious room that maximised this vista. Very good food with an option of a very reasonably priced 2 or 3 course set menu each evening. It is right by the Lavik ferry. This certainly didn't detract from our experience, and was fun to watch. Everything was clean and the shower (one of my personal rating indicators) was great.

If I have to find a minus point, it would be the lack of a fridge. However, there was no shortage of ice at the bar.

This is a lovely hotel, with a really nice garden and terrace overlooking the fjord. We had an evening meal on the terrace with a great view and breakfast in the large dinning room, also benefiting from the fjord view. Both meals were excellent, with plenty of choice and all good quality. All the staff we saw were friendly and very helpful; especially the hotel owner, Laurens, who was a wonderful host and made us feel really welcome. He also very kindly agreed to post back a dress to me, that I accidently left in the wardrobe! The location, being next to the ferry port, was perfect for us to continue on our amazing tour through Norway.

We had the apartment. It was very spacious. Had all the tools needed to make a good dinner. Grocery store just around the corner was fairly well stocked with fresh vegetables and produce along with fresh and frozen meats. Apartment had a nice view on patio and very convenient to grab the ferry.

The “front desk” is kind of hard to find. It looks like you are going into the restaurant and the desk looks like the bar. There is a bell for “service” on the counter but you have to know it’s there.

I had an amazing experience at this beautiful hotel! The hosts were incredibly welcoming and attentive — we truly felt expected and well cared for throughout our stay. The location is fantastic, with breathtaking views from the terrace, and the rooms (and beds!) were exceptionally comfortable. Our kids especially loved the outdoor space in front of the hotel — it was perfect for playing and enjoying the fresh air. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable getaway.

We had a lovely room with an incredible view. Owners very friendly. This is a great place to stay if you are flying into Bergen but then headed north right away. You drive for a couple hours and then take a short ferry to Lavik which puts you on the north coast of Sognefjord. The breakfast costs us about $15 each - but was totally worth it! Very large selection and a lovely dining area to see the fjord. We stayed just the one overnight and then continued on to Balestrand.

Difficult to fill tea kettle. Couldn't sit down in a chair in the room and still see the fjord out window as they were very low chairs.

Highlight of the hotel is clearly the breathtaking view from the restaurant/bar. The food is also very good and can only be recommended (both breakfast and dinner). On our tour through the wider area we did not always meet great restaurants (often only cheapish pizza, beer etc.), so we were really happy to get such a good service in Lavik. The owners are very nice and are certainly a big part of this positive experience! Having seen the nice location, having experienced the service and having seen the rooms, we should have stayed longer at this hotel and enjoyed the moment. We will come back ...

What a charming hotel. I enjoyed reading the history they provided. The owners are a nice couple that are extremely helpful if you have any questions. They have recommendations on things to do in the area and helped us with the ferry schedule. We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed the quiet LAVIK provided. Views of the fjord are enjoyed while eating one of their delicious dinners outside. Kids also found games and puzzles to do.

Best view ever from the restaurant/cafe. Excellent fish soup. A 2-minute drive to the ferry. Very peaceful. Charming staff.

Our room was pretty tiny for the price and it had the ubiquitous Norwegian bed set up, with a softish base topped with an even softer 3-inch “mattress”. How the entire nation sleeps on these is a mystery, but then, maybe only hotels use them? They’re just awful.

This was the most beautiful apartment we've ever stayed in! The decor and view were simply amazing. It was also nice that they had coffee, tea, laundry detergent, dish soap and other little warm touches. The owners were very nice and welcoming. The dinner and breakfast were delicious! We would go back just for the apartment and will hopefully be able to stay for more than a night.

WOW. The best place by now. We have been upgraded to the upper flour, the flat is no less then amazing, all the facielities you can handle and more, amazing balcony to the ocean and ferry, the flat is proffessional decerated, big windows to the sky all over, the owner is very welcoming and helped us with a water problen we had, beutiful family buissness he and his wife decorated the whole place with delicate and thoughtfull love to the travellers. Good for you and thanx!!!
