Stunning onsen (natural hot water spa) next to the beautiful yubara river with a direct view of the Sunayu (the famous and fabulous free public bath near the dam in Yubara) from the spa waters. Gorgeous Kashikiri (private rental) onsen bath on the roof top of the hotel called "Sora No Yu" that will take your breath away with the night view of the lighten up yubara bridge and river. Kind staff. Delicious breakfast. Relaxing atmosphere. Cute rabbit motifs all over the hotel. There is a cute message board for guests at the entrance to leave messages on little wooden boards (perfect for artists). Beautiful hotel. Relaxation heaven. Perfect location! Highly recommend Hakkei in Yubara Onsen.

The insects can be bad in the wrong season. So plan accordingly. The cleanliness of the outside bath in our room could have be better but, overall, our expectations were met. The facilities could use some updating here and there, but expectations met here too. The beds could have been better (just mattresses on the floor), but the beds were acceptable. So, no real complains with Hakkei because the great location, baths, food, and kind, respectful staff make up for any downside. Highly recommend Hakkei in Yubara Onsen!

The staff were amazing and the kitchen catered to our needs and changed the menu for my wife as she doesn't eat fish. The Hotel owner makes you almost feel like family rather than just a guest. We would recommend the Hakkei Hotel to anyone we loved our stay and it was just what we needed after a bust schedule travelling around Japan.

What we didn't like was minor we are westerners and aren't used to sleeping on the Japanese futon.

Dinner and breakfast were excellent. Staff were very friendly, attentive and proactive towards our needs, especially the lady boss who was very friendly. They have many staff who spoke English. On the day we checked out, they recommended us to visit a small village (出雲街道) next to the Sayo station to see the beautiful cherry blossom. I have to say thank you for their recommendations as we enjoyed it very much.

We had their dinner and breakfast, both are wonderful. Staff super friendly and fluent with English which is great a help for me. Location is perfect. We've had a great time, thank you.

It would be nice to know our villa is a pet-friendly one, which is a perfect choice for people travel with pets.

Best customer service and hospitality ever. The staff were super attentive and proactive towards our needs and all very friendly. Dinner was also fantastic. We enjoyed the family onsen and the free outdoor one too. The room was really spacious and there was a kotatsu too!

The staff are the highlight of the stay. The warmest friendliest staff we have ever come across when staying at an Onsen. They couldn’t do enough for you.
