The staff were kind, courteous and helpful. The historical aspect of the buildings. The pictures and portraits tell a particular story of the city's past. It was safe to walk around the hotel, even though we felt a bit wary as tourists, initially. We saw a slice of life we might never have experienced for ourselves since we are so scared to venture into central Johannesburg, and because violent crime is a reality in SA. It was good to see a city seemingly at ease with aspects of its past. People work and live and try to forge a life in circumstances not all of us would be able to endure. The city has so many beautiful buildings, and people were really helpful when we needed advice or directions.
Small things like the availability of butter at breakfast, marmalade (when requested). The staff did their best to accommodate us, and compensated when they could. Our understanding was that our shuttle from the airport was complimentary, and yet we paid more than we would have had we ordered an InDrive e-hailing taxi. I understand that one dollar bills are in short supply, but it was difficult to get larger bills broken into smaller denominations. This is not a criticism, just an observation. TV had very limited bouquet of channels (One BBC News, One football highlights, one action movie channel. A bar fridge might also have been useful in the room.

Superb experience, and exceptional value. Great heritage property with a museum quality collection of furniture. All of the Staff from front desk to wait staff were incredibly welcoming and extremely helpful and patient at all times. The Breakfast is generous and the menu is also excellent value. Very good location in the centre of town too.
The only issue is street noise, which starts quite early. But you need an early start in Africa, and the street sounds are part of the overall experience.

This is the place to stay in Bulawayo, beautifully renovated Gentlemen's club, this hotel is like an oasis. Nice atrium and lounge that cools you down. The rooms are not that cool as they are in 2nd floor, under the roof but there is/are ventilators (no AC in my room). Clean modern rooms and bathroom and a sufficient breakfast. City center walkable and carpark in the backyard (reachable by a small alley before the hotel -not signposted). Personnel is also very nice.

The Club is the grand dame of Bulawayo. Redolent with history and wonderfully preserved. It truly is worth a stay to be transported back in time. Beautiful woodwork and historic artefacts abound. The rooms are what you’d expect - in period but comfortable
Its location is central Bulawayo with the noise and bustle that ensues. No safety issues but just something to bear in mind

What a fantastic place! Like taking a step back in time. The books on the table in the entrance hall were fascinating and the pictures etc on the walls really interesting. The design and - presumably - attempt to keep the decor as close to the original was great as well. The staff were excellent, and we were shown around some of the closed areas before we left which we really appreciated.
We had to ask for the hot water to be turned on so we could shower, but that wasn't surprising considering the cost of power. I suspect the floors were swept rather than vacuumed so the carpets on stairs and in rooms were rather dusty, but the place was otherwise very clean.

There's a lot of history here, and the hotel feels extremely atmospheric. The public areas have been well-maintained, albeit some things have run done, e.g. the elevator was not working, and the corridors on the upper level could use some refinishing. The staff also felt pretty minimal, but those who were there were friendly and helpful. The location is great, and we felt very safe walking in the neighborhood. We ate both breakfast and dinner here and the food was fine.
Carrying our suitcases up all those stairs. (I counted more than 60). Getting into the parking area is a bit of a challenge, but at least there is parking.

Bulawayo club is more than a hotel! By staying here, you get a taste of what travel and lodging were like a century ago. The building, furnishing and overall experience brings you back to the early 1900s, and yet the hotel provides great comfort for modern travelers. It's really like an oasis as you travel through Zimbabwe. While located in the city center, it's very safe, and quiet enough at night for you have a good rest. Strongly recommended!

Just a perfect touch to the history. You can naturally smell how it was 50 yrs ago. Was interesting to play a snooker at one of old tables, using old tools. Breakfast was good. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Well.. Everybody should understand that touch to history has disadvangates - i.e. rooms and equipment there is clean, but old... and of course - no A/C.
