The eclectic decor was amazing. I loved the arty feel and the abundance of books that were found in every communal area. The pool was clean and well-placed on the property, the trees were beautiful and it was a very relaxing experience. It is nestled among the houses and at first, I thought I made a mistake in booking as it was not an area that I expected to visit, but I was pleasantly surprised as the property is secure, offers secure parking and is an absolute gem. The food was scrumptious and prepared as requested. We enjoyed a refreshing drink at the pool. Our room had its own view of the shared pool and garden. The staff were very friendly and professional. The staff ensured the room was cool and refreshing before we arrived, as it was extremely hot outside. This was a very thoughtful gesture and much appreciated.

Initially, the surrounding area was a letdown, but once inside the perimeter of the property, we stepped into a different world.

A Wonderful Stay with Great Value for Money! I recently stayed at this lovely accommodation for a holiday, From the moment we arrived couldn’t have been happier with my experience. The property itself is beautiful—well-maintained, peaceful, and just a short distance from the main attractions. Our room was spacious, spotless, and equipped with everything we needed. The bed was extremely comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The attention to cleanliness was impeccable, making us feel safe and relaxed throughout our stay. The view from the room was stunning, with breathtaking sights that added to the overall relaxing atmosphere. The location is perfect, providing a balance of being close enough to all the action, yet far enough to enjoy peace and tranquility. Considering the pristine condition of the facilities, and the fantastic location, this accommodation truly offers great value for money. We felt we received much more than what we paid for, making our stay even more enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to have a stress-free and enjoyable holiday. I will definitely be back! The walk along the cliff path out of this world!!!!!

That my weekend had to end.

It was a fabulous hotel! An oasis in a dusty little town. Exquisitely and quirkily decorated, with flair and good taste. The staff were warm and lovely, and the dinner first class! Lamb chops to die for...

I think there could have been a small breakfast (not included in the price), and - not the fault of the establishment - but there was a family staying the night with four very badly behaved children. The kids were loud and out of control. We had to leave the dining room quickly to get away from them as it was ruining our dinner. I think the manager needed to have a quiet word with the parents as it was impacting other guests' enjoyment.

Beautiful hotel, with a magical garden and pool - a perfect stopover

Unfortunately, the dining room looks beautiful but is terribly hot and had no Aircon. The staff very kindly set up a table for us in the courtyard. Dinner in the garden, under the trees should be an option in summer. Also - no checkout / breakfast available from sunrise, which is not ideal for travellers heading for Joburg. There should be a quick buffet breakfast available from 6am, with an automatic check out option.

It was a beautiful oasis in a funny little town in the middle of the karoo. I was blown away by how wonderful it was. Wonderful room with lovely linen and good aircon. The pool was so fresh and cool in the heat of the day. The food was great. I had the lamb shanks. The bar was stunning! So beautifully done. Can't wait to come back. Such nice staff too!

Nothing.

This hotel is an absolute Gem. It is beautifully decorated, the staff is exceptional and the facilities are top class. We ate at the in-house restaurant which served delicious Karoo dishes. We had lamb shank and pork belly. It was fabulous. The best part is that our doggies were allowed. There are also safe parking behind a large wall and gate, as well as a night gaurd ensuring a relaxing stay.

We had the pleasure of spending one night at this lovely hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, Jacques sent a menu ahead of time for convenience and the room was stunning, the decor is tasteful and the bed was heavenly. The room was heated on arrival as well as warm blankets on the beds. I would highly recommend this hotel.

You can’t improve on perfection and kind hospitality & professional service

It was beautifully decorated and clean. A nice pool area outside for the kids and having a bar and restaurant inside is really convenient. The staff are really helpful and friendly.

The meal options at the restaurant wern't quite to our liking and quite pricey, we ended up going to another really nice restaurant down the road which worked out perfectly. There wasn't any TV in the room if that's what you are looking for and you need to arrange for the gate to be opened each time you wish to leave and come back but having the safe parking area is a big plus for the area.

What a wonderful experience to stay in such a beautiful place in the middle of the Karoo!! Jacques and Rochelle was wonderful hosts. The staff all over was very friendly. The interior of the hotel is beautifully done. We had our drinks before dinner in comfortable deep chairs after a long trip. We did not have breakfast but the dinner was something special. Rooms are beautiful. Safe parking. Special place for a Karoo stopover!!!

Light without fan working in the bathroom.

What an unexpected gem in the middle of the Karoo! On our way to the coast, we stopped at the Hanover garage to fill up with petrol. The gentleman in the curio / farmers' shop told us that the hotel had been refurbished and was becoming quite popular. On a whim, we decided to book a night in the hotel for our return trip from the coast. From the WhatsApp messages while we were travelling to the quirkily decorated hotel, everything exceeded our expectations. The hosts (Kyle, in particular) were attentive to our needs and ensured that we were comfortable. The sparkling swimming pool was most inviting after a long and hot car trip. The meals were delicious (limited menu - reasonably priced - catering for all tastes, including vegetarians) and served promptly in the lovely dining room. The bar offered a wide variety of drinks (including all types of Inverroche gin!). Lights continued to work during load-shedding, which was an unexpected bonus. Clean and spacious room, with dressing table, table and chairs and an en suite bathroom (shower, basin & toilet). We'll definitely be making the refurbished Hanover Hotel a regular stop on future trips.

There were only three minor concerns: 1) If you are reliant on WiFi, the connection is quite spotty. This was not an issue for us, as we were in holiday mode, but it could be a challenge for business travellers. 2) We stayed in Room 1, with a window overlooking the street. There was quite a bit of pedestrian traffic outside. Net / lace curtains would afford guests more privacy. We had to close our curtains, which made the room quite dark. 3) The wicker lampshade over the fridge / kettle area hangs very low. We constantly bumped our heads on it!
