The hotel restaurant was a big improvement on last year. The hotel is extremely clean and the staff are very pleasant. This was the fifth time we stayed in the hotel and intend to go back next year.

What I particularly didn't like was the lack of any kind of safety rail for entering and leaving the pool. I have a bad knee and this is a major problem as it is very easy to fall over when going down steps in water. For me this was a major problem, , which stopped me from going into the water as much as I would have done in previous years. I love France, but I have to say that it would be against the law not have a handrail for entering and leaving a pool in England.

Amazing location and very beautiful rooms with very high standard. The food and breakfast was incredible and really tasty. The choice offered at the breakfast was high in quality and variety.

The staff is sometimes not as attentive as I would expect for the classification and the price. They offer valet service and when I wanted to get my car in the evening I was told I need to walk myself as the Valet person was already off. When arriving at the pool the first day I had to search the grounds for someone to order a drink.

The pool was amazing, the food was amazing, the staff were amazing. They use Clarins products throughout the hotel. It was such a perfect, relaxing stay in a small town so there were some shops / restaurants to walk to but you still felt isolated in the country. It was easy to drive to nearby towns and wineries. The staff were super helpful in recommending activities.

Nothing really

Good breakfast, nice pool, relaxing atmosphere, and the patio felt like an outdoor lobby.

No parking available (only valet service). Breakfast could be better. Some equipment was outdated or low quality (e.g. non-working phone, cheap power strips, very old elevator). Overall, the experience didn't quite match what I expect from hotels in this category.

The village itself is quaint. We loved the pool and lounger area of the hotel. There are 3 restaurants in the village (plus the village BAR, which is a MUST to experience). The local restaurants all close on a Wednesday, so we ate in the hotel, which was fine but not as good as being out in the village (in our opinion).

Breakfast was disappointing for the price they charge. We felt they could do much better. Personally I wouldn't bother paying extra for it. We were in a room with a terrace which was great but the bathroom was up about 3 or 4 steps, so take a torch with you for night-time loo trips!. The room is up 3 flights of stairs. Shower is in the bath. Not an issue for us but a problem if you have mobility issues and should be flagged up when booking I feel. No information about the hotel or the local area readily available. Staff were always professional but a bit remote, not overly 'warm' (except the evening waiting staff and the man who takes away the cars - they were friendly).

Beautiful hotel in a stunning location. Every member of staff was always exceptionally helpful. Be it drinks by the pool or tips on river swimming locations.

Is it wrong or say that we would have preferred a pool not heated to 28. 🤦‍♂️ Honestly though Nothing to dislike ❤️

Great setting and the hotel has been beautifully restored. It’s calm and welcoming. The breakfast was ok but the evening meal was absolutely delicious and worthy of a Michelin star restaurant, we don’t often say that as we are vegetarian. The staff were very helpful. We had a great stay and would definitely rebook if we come back to this area.

Having to pay extra for breakfast.

Felt closer to a 5* hotel :) Lovely pool area and how the hotel seamlessly integrates with an old village. Hotel also had pool drinks service, pool table and table football and a lovely courtyard. Room was spacious and good AC Breakfast was great both in choice and quality

Dinner options were limited (though we didn’t eat there, preferring to go to Uzes, Nimes and Avignon for more choice and a lovely walk around. YOU need a hire car if you stay here Minor moan that the staff wouldn’t let us have more than 1 towel each (get more if in short supply!)

Beautiful historic and secluded property in Castillon du Gard. Service was very professional yet warm and friendly which we loved. They had many repeat clients and we can see why. If we came to the area again, Le Vieux Castillon would be our first choice - highly recommended for a romantic few nights as a couple.

Our hot water wasn't working but they took prompt action to help us. They moved and upgraded our room in the end but the hot water service isn't great. The only other thing we didn't like is that you can smoke everywhere including at dinner when we were trying to enjoy a nice meal as a couple. It would be better if there were some designated smoking areas.
