Super cool accommodation in an amazing medieval building. Chic room, huge comfortable bed, a roomy walk-in shower and 'his & her' sinks. Tea and coffee facilities in the room. We ate in the restaurant downstairs that evening, (book a table!), highly recommended, delicious food. A lighter continental style breakfast buffet was included in the price and was served in the cute breakfast room next to the kitchen. There are not many rooms in the restaurant/hotel, so it all felt very personal and cozy. The staff were very friendly and helpful, good to know is that they all go home at night, no 24 hour reception but you have a telephone number to call if you need help with anything.

The stairs are narrow, no lift, as the building is so old, so it could be difficult to get up them if you have large suitcases. Earplugs are provided in the room for any late night partys outside on the street as the rooms aren't fully soundproofed. (There was noise until 01:00!)

We have been travelling down to south west France for many years and always break the journey somewhere in this area. This stopover was one of the best. A real little gem of a find. Situated n Martel , a picturesque medieval village/small town just 10 minutes from the A20. The hotel was originally a wine bar but the old building has been renovated to add a small bistro/restaurant and some guest accommodation. We received a warm welcome from a member of staff who was friendly and helpful throughout. Our room was spacious, with contemporary decor and even tea and coffee making facilities (unusual in France). The en suite was lovely with a great shower, complimentary bath products and plenty of space to put one’s stuff! We ate in the bistro and enjoyed a delicious dinner made from fresh local produce, perfectly cooked and served by delightful staff. We were the only guests for breakfast but we were treated to a fabulous array of local produce, breads and croissants. The host even rushed out to get us strawberries from the market! Before leaving we spent time exploring the town which is beautifully clean and presented with little streets just needing to be photographed. There are some beautiful little shops whose proprietors were incredibly friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed a stroll round the local market where again everyone was extremely friendly. Everything (bars, shops, cafes) is within easy walking distance of the hotel. Above all, this place was great value for money. We paid 74 euros for the room - maybe this is a low season tariff but the whole experience was worth so much more.

Nothing!

This was a very nice, spacious room. It was very clean and had what we needed. The kettle was nice, place to hang clothes, large bathroom. It is very convenient to the village. Everything went well. We were glad to be there on a quiet night, it seems as though it could get loud above the restaurant or if there is music.

A small handle on the inside of the bathroom door to make it easier to get out would be a plus. Everything else great!

Large, comfortable and well appointed room with balcony. Very nicely decorated and furnished. Large and very comfortable bed. I didn't try the restaurant because I didn't think to book in advance on the first night and was at a wedding meal on the second. Tip: book dinner in advance! Martel is an attractive medieval town with interesting architecture. Easy access from A20 motorway, 25 minutes from Rocamadour. Very pretty part of France.

No curtains at the window in my room, which was opposite the bathroom so I felt a little exposed. There are windows across the little street but I didn't see lights on... Being on the first floor I could hear the restaurant below and creaky floorboards above. These didn't cause me undue disturbance but some people might be troubled by it. I had to find parking in public parking place. In fact this wasn't difficult, but I was a little anxious beforehand.

If the medieval city of Martel is a crown topping this part of the Dordogne Valley, then Le Petit Moulin is the jewel in the crown. It's perfectly located in a quietish street in the main part of town, and offers lots of dining tables, a Wine Bar and shop, plus 5 delightful hotel rooms. We stayed 2 nights and ate 2 dinners at Le Petit Moulin and were enchanted by the staff, the menu and our room. Camille, Florian and the other waiters know the menu and make excellent wine pairing suggestions. The chef uses local, seasonal ingredients and creates stunning flavour profiles. The menu is relatively small, which is a sure sign of freshness and home-cooked food. There is a starter and a main dish of the day to round out the offerings. The restaurant is open 7 days a week for both lunch and dinner; reservations are highly recommended due to its popularity. Owner Adrien has recently refurbished 5 bedrooms in this corner building, and ours was exceptional. The modern design combined with some older features create a lovely blend and ensure your comfort. The bathroom is gorgeous with two sinks, toilet, and walk-in shower. The buffet breakfast features hand-crafted croissants and pains au chocolat such as I have never seen during over 40 years living in France. Martel itself is a real gem; lively old buildings and everyday shops that show that real people live in the town. There is a good selection of restaurants to serve the many tourists, but we did not feel like we were in an overly tourist-oriented spot. All in all, Le Petit Moulin provided us with an excellent base for eating, drinking, sleeping, and exploring the area. We intend returning!

The food in the restaurant was delicious, they made my belly so happy! Thanks to the staff for their recommendations with food. 👌 The room was great, so modern with lots of character and with an excellent view. I stayed there two nights and I felt at home despite not speaking French. Shout-out to all the staff from Le Petit Moulin ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Special thanks to (sorry I forgot her name) but she fixed my room and knowing I had a cold she had the great gesture of leaving in it some ingredients for a cup of tea with honey, mint and lime. I really really appreciated that 🩷. Thanks Flo for your great attitude, friendliness and being accommodating during my stay. Martel is a lovely small town and Le Petit Moulin is a gem within it. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to Martel.

The room could be improved by having a full body size mirror. I was in Martel for a wedding so it would have been handy when getting ready.

The location is in the centre of this small town. The room is new, everything is clean and new. It provides coffee and tea and water kettle.

You need to prepare to carry your baggages to walk up to the fourth floor, a very narrow and steep staircase... The toilet door is inconvenience...

Very old and lovely building with clever and very attractive modern bedrooms built into it. Great materials and extremely comfortable bed. Good aircon (not too fierce) and good shower etc. Also - very good breakfast and top coffee. Dinner also v good.

Nothing! Hope to revisit

The property was very good. It was a shame we were not told that our check in would be 30 mins later owing to the fact that they were hosting a wedding! It was hard to access the property because of the number of celebrating guests.

The breakfast was extremely disappointing and we felt that we didn’t merit much attention.

The room was so spacious and in an original historic building, in the medieval heat of the towns. The restaurant was located just downstairs and served amazing local food and wine and walnut oil of their own production - family tradition.

There was a noice from a the street until very late hours - from a nearby pub with loud music played, such a pity as it was difficult to have a proper rest.
