Great experience end to end. Even before we reached, we got a call with key travel information and directions. Unlike most mountain hotels, rooms here have tall ceilings and tall French windows, are very spacious, and are very tastefully done. Large balconies provide a great view of the mountains and apple orchards. All I could hear in the morning was birdsong and sound of the stream in the distance. Spotted several birds and a wild mountain goat just from my balcony! Every member of the staff is eager to go over and above to provide a great experience. Bipin leads a great team - Vijay (Service), Balwant (housekeeping), and chef Sandeep. The owner is closely involved in personalising the food experience. We had several dishes from the local cuisine expertly made by chef Sandeep. Bichhu ghaas ka saag, chaisu, jakhiya aloo...and many more. The restaurant is pretty and provides great views of the mountains. The cottages are near a beautiful little village which makes for a good early morning or evening stroll. Locals are very welcoming and willing to engage in a conversation. Would love to come back again some time !

Tucked away in one of the most beautiful locations in the north of India (Uttarakhand), this is one of those hidden gems which will keep you coming back for more. Here are some of the points that make Faraway cottages a must visit : 1) The View: If you are a person that appreciates true natural beauty like myself, you will get to feast your eyes on majestic unobstructed 360 degree views of the himalayas all around you. And no amount of this will ever be enough. It leaves a last impression on you and the sense of amazement stays with you every time you look around. There are also sprawling views of fields and farms below. 2) The Food: We went in with no expectation about the food at a cottage, as we tend to mostly explore the restaurants in the area to experience local culture. Not here. The unassuming cozy restaurant offers some seriously good dishes which will have you licking your fingers after every meal. It has to be something to do with the water in the area, but EVERY SINGLE MEAL was DELICIOUS. So much so that I met with the chef and made sure he felt my appreciation. 3) The People: The hospitality of the Pahadi(mountain people) is well known, and is exemplified at this this location. Such kind, welcoming and warm people - this I felt was truly the best part of visiting Uttarakhand in general but in particular this cottage. I wanted to specifically mention Naval Kishore, the manager - always made sure we felt at home and tended to our every need Our server, who treated us like royalty every time we came for a meal. You are truly made to feel special.

All this said, the only drawback of this property is the approach and the roads. The roads in the region are generally sub par as you'd expect from such a location and I would definitely recommend hiring a local cab who is familiar with the terrain. Our driver had little to no problem driving a Swift Dzire through these roads, but it is not the most comfortable ride.

The view from my cottage was amazing, the mountains range in front is untouched. This was the best ever view I have ever experienced from the luxurious, tastefully done cottages. The peaceful afternoons, the music of the birds and trail to the nearby waterfall is something that will stay with me. We enjoyed the Garhwali thali, loved the fact that some vegetables were cut from the garden after our order. The food spread was great which above our expectations. We stayed for 6 Nights. We checked in the night around 8:00 pm. Day 1- Trek to Gurson Bugiyal in the day and evening at the resort with Amazing Gharwali Thali. Day 2- Trail to the nearby Village, visited the small the water body near the village temple. Lazy evening gazing the stars. Day 3- Badrinath and Trek to Vasudhara Falls, this is an easy trek with a great view. Day 4- Relaxed in the resort, listening to the music of the birds around with a bon fire in the evening. Day 5- Again Bored ourself in our lovely cottage at the resort. I would love to visit again in the winters hoping to catch the snow and try my hands on skating.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by the warm and friendly owners who made us feel right at home. I was immediately struck by the stunning panoramic views of the mountains from the entrance. It was spacious, elegantly decorated, and featured a private balcony that allowed me to wake up to the most awe-inspiring sunrises every morning. Each meal was a culinary delight, showcasing both local flavors and international cuisine. The restaurant staff was attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring that every meal was a delightful experience. They were not only professional but also genuinely caring and attentive to my needs. It was a place where I could disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life and immerse myself in the tranquility of the mountains. I left feeling rejuvenated, inspired, and grateful for the remarkable experience this hotel provided. My stay here were an absolute delight, and I can't wait to return to this oasis of tranquility in the mountains.

I struggle to find something bad to say about the hotel :) Maybe, if there were a couple of small shops near the hotel, it would help for urgent supplies, but nothing pertaining to the stay.

The views from the resort were absolutely breathtaking! Nanda Devi Peak! OMG. Imagine waking up in the morning and being greeted by the majestic snow-capped mountains of the higher Himalayas right outside your window. It's truly a sight to behold! The resort is newly built, so everything feels fresh and brand new. The utilities and facilities are top-notch. I've been to Auli before, and I never expected to find such a luxurious stay option here. The food was amazing, particularly the delightful experience of sipping morning tea on the balcony of our room. The owners themselves were present during our stay and ensured the quality of food and services.

If Auli could be closer to my place of residence !!

Absolutely stunning property! The rooms are exquisite - high ceilings, rustic interiors and looking towards gigantic mountains and beautiful scenery. It offered the calmness much needed in life to unwind from busy city life. The food is delicious and we enjoyed our meals looking over the mountains. Would totally recommend someone to plan their stay in this cozy, amazing property.

We had a amazing stay at Faraway Cottages. When we entered the property, we were pleasantly surprised to see such attention to detail and facilities in a remote location like Auli. The staff is highly attentive, and took care of all our small needs. The views are breathtaking and food is to die for. The rooms are elegantly furnished and comfortable. We were travelling with our toddler and thoroughly enjoyed being there.

Its a beautiful property with an astounding views of the Himalayas. The cottages are very nicely done. They are equipped with all amenities one needs for a comfortable stay. Their service is top notch and the food is delicious. Although we stayed just for one day, it was hard for us to say good bye to the stunning views and our cozy cottage.

Everything was so perfect, food, location, service, view.

The matresses could have been little better, as we prefer hard bed (Cotton beddings) for longer stays. Those foam matresses are not our preference.
