August 2023

Short stay parking only 2 minutes away was ideal for dropping off luggage, though fairly busy in August. Free large long stay parking was 400 meters away and fairly shaded over to the right. Our car was safe for 3 nights. Information was messaged in advance for accessing the building and our room, which worked really well and felt very secure. The WiFi access was also explained and I was asked what breakfast items we required, so that was all arranged well in advance. Stairs were fairly wide (despite it being an old building) which made carrying our cases upstairs quite easy. Our double room was quite big and certainly comfortable. Thank you for leaving the air-con on for our arrival as it was a hot day. And the room fridge was most welcome for our cold drinks. The shower was powerful, a hairdryer was provided and plenty of clothes hangers, and several electric sockets - all good. We had free access to the kitchen downstairs, ideal for an evening hot drink. Breakfast was laid out (labelled by room number) with plenty of fresh bread and a pain au chocolate on the table, with 2 jams, butter and a large container of orange juice clearly marked in the fridge (our choices), with plenty of hot coffee in the pot to serve ourselves. Anyone who would wish savoury choices would need to provide that themselves, which could easily to kept in the large kitchen fridge available for guests to use. Tourists leaflets a plenty, the accomodation was central for exploring the town and the castle, and just 2 minutes back from the hustle and bustle of the busy canal side road with several restaurants. An easy walk across the Rhone to explore Tarascon with it's castle. We chatted with Olivier one morning over breakfast, all very amicable.

Excellent to have motion sensors on the lights in the hallways and on the staircases. But sometimes they took quite a while to come on. Maybe it was because I am not very tall !! Amongst the leaflets, some take-away "plan de ville" would have been useful. I photographed the one on the wall, but once outside I found it wasn't very clear to read. I'm not sure the Tourist Office was marked on the map ? but I did find the very well equipped Information Office a bit later, so collected a street map.

Olivier is a very considerate, friendly and supportive host. Breakfast was typically french (sweet only) and more than sufficient.
