Unfortunately we reached the hotel late due to a four-hour traffic jam at the St Gotthard tunnel in Switzerland, so we missed having dinner at the hotel which we arrived at after 10.00 pm. Received a very nice welcome from owner who was exceptionally pleasant. Breakfast in the morning was very good with real coffee (not from a machine) and lovely bread and croissants. Town is also quiet and picturesque, hotel located right in centre.

Very little - no secure parking so parked on the street, but not a problem at that location. Price just a little on the high side but still very acceptable.

Everything about the property is charming. The food is delicious and the family who runs this little hotel are wonderful hosts. We were lucky to secure a last minute booking for three adults and the room was spacious for one night. While the building is very old, the rooms have recently been remodeled and the courtyard restaurant is gorgeous.

Located in the center of the small village in a very traditional, wooden building. Still, it has modern rooms with high quality finishing. The breakfast is fantastic with lots of local fruits and products. The restaurant serves excellent local dishes at a good price. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is an excellent place as a base to visit the Vosges/Alsace area or as a stopover for one night, as it is close to the motorway.

There is no parking at the hotel, you'll need to leave the car in one of the (not many) parking spaces in the village center. The bed was quite small, both in length and width. There is no air conditioning and it can get really hot in the Rhine valley (35°C), although apparently only for a few weeks per year. There is a ventilator, but it took a long time before the room temperature was acceptable for sleeping.

Lovely location in Châtenois though parking was a little less easy. Very good and helpful staff and lovely meal in the old courtyard covered in wisteria and grape vines. We had a key code to come in and it worked well. Our room was quite small but comfortable.

Would have liked to stay longer

We’ve stayed in Chatenois for one night while exploring the Alsace wine road. The Auberge Le Meisenberg is a tastefully restored and renewed Fachwerk house, room for 3 was comfortable and spacious, breakfast very good, and also the dinner that we had in the restaurant in their lovely inner yard was delicious.

The bells of the nearby church start early (every full hour, and then every 15 min too). So if you left a window open, you will be awaken eventually. It's NOT against the hotel though, they of course have nothing to do with it :-)

The Auberge is in the town of Chatenois which has attractive half timbered houses with the plaster panels in a variety of colours (pink in the case of the Auberge), as well as the remains of a town wall, vineyards, a market etc.. It is also on the GR5 / E2 long distance path on which I was hiking. Lady in charge was full of life.

I bit of difficulty getting in as only the pictures of a text message came through, not the words and the code I needed.

Clean well equipped room with comfy beds, good fan and a kettle! Beautiful courtyard for the restaurant- the breakfast was delicious. We ate in the restaurant for two dinners too- excellent local food.

Loved the regional food in the restaurant and enjoyed the breakfast. The building had old world charm with a large modern bathroom. Wonderful white wisteria hanging over the outside dining patio. Fragrance filled the air.

Parking was well away from the hotel. However, you could stop outside to drop off or depart.

It was a very nice stay! The family-run hotel is lovely and the hotel owner a very friendly person. The little town is also beautiful. The breakfast was exceptional - one of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever had. If I ever come back to this area and need a hotel, I will choose Auberge Le Meisenberg again.

It was quite hot on the day we were there, as was the night since there is no a/c in the rooms.

We loved everything. The building is super charming, the bedroom was spotless clean, spacious, and very comfortable for our family of four. The staff is kind and amicable, and the breakfast amazing with delicious local products. Highly recommended!
