- The hotel looked new and clean. - It was situated in a good location (a short walk from the center and the sights). - The parking was free and there was plenty of space for parking. - Nice staff - exceptionally the staff at the reception!
- The rooms were soundproof, I did not hear the neighbors. However, some noise can come from wide corridors where people like to hang out and from the common rooms. - The breakfast could have a wider selection and larger rooms. Interestingly, there are two breakfast rooms at the opposite ends of the hotel. It may cause a confusion if you agree to meet your co-travelers without realizing there are two breakfast rooms.

I loved the hotel's dedication to local history in terms of its decoration, and local cuisine with the array of Karelian pies at breakfast. It was also excellent for families with children; the playroom was fantastic, it kept our kid entertained for hours. We also appreciated the sauna and the lovely decor in our room. We didn't travel with our dog, but I loved that they had a dog cleaning station right at the entrance.
We booked a room described as a suite, which I imagine as having two adjoining rooms, but which was actually just a big room. It was very comfortable, but perhaps expectations could be managed better with a different description.

What a surprise finding a hotel in a former cavalry barracks! The hotel and surrounding area was steeped with history and you almost felt the horses and cavalrymen coming round the corner. The room had been used by four soldiers so it was fairly large and recently renovated. Clean, stylish, modern. Breakfast was self-service with more than enough choices and food. The story of hotel's past was told with large photos on the walls - great touch. Also - free charging of electrical vehicles.

The hotel is located in the building of a former barracks, a building that was so beautifully decorated with elements inspired by the army! The rooms have high ceilings, they are spacious. I really liked the wallpaper and the colors used for decoration, and the bathroom looks very good! The mattress, pillows, linen and towels are of very good quality. We also had breakfast included, rich in dishes and pastries. I was impressed that at the entrance to the hotel there was a small space with showers where the dogs could be washed!
There is no public transport station nearby and I walked a long way to the station.

Only stopped here one night on our way to the lake district, but we found Lappeenranta to be well-worth walking around. Wish we could have stayed another day to visit the museums. The hotel in former cavalry barracks was small, comfortable enough, and a short walk from the fortress and harbour. Fascinating site.
When checking out, we had to wait a few minutes for reception staff to appear.

Good sized room, lovely decor acknowledging the building's heritage. Lovely reception staff. The air conditioning was wonderful during a couple of hot days. Parking is plentiful, free and easy to access. Great desk in the room with power points in accessible locations. Very comfortable bed and linen. Lighting is good and accessible. Very quiet location and soundproof room. Easy walk to all the town's best locations, restaurants, harbour and the forts. Good to see heritage buildings being repurposed vs demolition.
The WiFi was good in most places but a weak signal in our room (probably due to the thick building walls). The building is one of many heritage buildings in the old military base so it is a bit hard to find the front door on arrival. The bathroom has the dreaded psycho plastic shower curtain that attacks during a shower and the taps take up significant space in the shower so it is either a plastic rap or bruised elbows while showering. The bathroom has no shelf space for toiletries so we had to keep them in the wardrobe which was a bit annoying. Breakfast could be better as it is only a continental breakfast (no hot eggs etc). Would we stay here again if we were in town again? Definitely.

The breakfast was fantastic. All the food was fresh and delicious. There was a free parking, the area is really quiet surrounded by beautiful nature. The staff of the hotel was so helpfull and kind. They also have a special room with kitchen and a variety of boarding games, where you can have a meal and relax with your family and friends. We hightly reccomend it!

The location is simply superb, in the city centre. Free parking. Good breakfast. Helpful staff. Something extra compared to a regular hotel is a private fridge in the room and a well-equipped shared kitchen. It was also possible to have an extra bed in the family room, so the whole family of 5 could fit in the same room.

We chose to break our return journey from Juva via Savonlinna at Lapeenranta. We weren’t sure what to expect but liked the look of this hotel, which is part of a former military barracks on the edge of the city. The outside of the hotel has an institutional look to it but the interior has been tastefully decorated and the rooms are very pleasant. Each room is named after a person who was stationed at the barracks and there’s a little bio about them on the desk. Room was a good size with individually controlled air conditioning and, wonder of wonders, a window that opened. Bed was large and linen was pristine. The bathroom is modern but I was surprised that there was shower curtain rather than shower screen, given the pricing of the hotel. Excellent blackout curtains that are needed in summer where there is daylight almost 24hrs a day. The building is solid. Very solid. This means that it’s well soundproofed from outside noise and in the halls. The second floor has a ‘relaxation area’ which is like a common room where there’s a fridge for you to leave cold items, kettle, ice machine, coffee maker tables chairs, a wide screen TV etc. They also have a separate play room for kids. On the third floor is a recreation area with small pool table, air hockey etc. Everything is in perfect condition. Breakfast is in the breakfast room on the ground floor. People have complained that the breakfast is ‘not that great’ but coming from a country where breakfast is *never* included, a breakfast of cereal & bread, cheese & ham, yoghurt & pastries, coffee and juice is a real treat.
The hotel is within easy walking distance of the centre of town and if you want a leg stretch, the fort area is within walking distance. Parking is free but it is more than a bit tricky to get to the hotel, particularly with the current road works being done. Siri (Apple) led us to the address but the road is blocked by permanent bollards. Google Maps was better, getting us inside the barracks area but not to the hotel. We left the car, walked across the barracks to ask for instructions and then returned to get the car. The hotel may benefit from putting a map with clear instructions on their website on how to drive to the hotel and park.

Friendly helpful staff, great breakfast, large rooms and bunk beds for children. Children loved the games room. We stayed with a number of family members and were given rooms near each other which was very helpful. Lovely share sauna facilities with women’s time slot and men’s time slot.
A little tricky to get to with roadwork nearby but not the hotels fault.
