I recently stayed at the Kempinski Hotel in Chengdu and had a really pleasant experience. Eileen and the other English-speaking staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, which made things so much easier for me as I’m from Australia and don’t speak any Chinese. They were always happy to assist and made me feel very welcome throughout my stay. The hotel was also very clean, neat, and had a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. One thing I did notice was that Didi drivers don’t always come right into the hotel driveway, which can be a bit tricky if you're not familiar with the area or the language. It would be great if the hotel could help facilitate that a bit more for guests. Also, if the toilets had bidets, that would be a big bonus. Overall though, I had a great stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to other international travellers.

Staff, in particular Eileen, were very helpful and remedied an issue without any hassle. The room was comfortable and the breakfast exceptional. It was my birthday during my stay and Eileen must have realised this when I checked in and surprised me with a cake when I returned that evening. A very lovely and thoughtful gesture.

The rooms are not conducive for friends sharing as the vanity is open plan and the toilet and shower screened only by a frosted glass door, not sealed for privacy. if the light would be turned on at night it would illuminate the whole room. We immediately had to book a second room which was an unexpected expense. Eileen was very helpful to secure this room and upgraded me to a larger room. This second room however smelled of the precious occupant smoking in the non smoking room and after alerting the reception I was moved again without any issue.

The breakfast was very good. There was a large selection of different dishes, both Asian and European. The rooms were very spacious and the bathtub was great! There is a subway station near the hotel as well as buses. It's not centrally located, but you can get everywhere easily. You can get to the airport and train station quickly.

At midday the sun shines on the windows so that it gets very warm in the room. The internal air conditioning didn't work so I got an external one. I had to work for a few hours and it was very hot in my hotel room. I had to close the curtains and sat in a dark hotel room at lunchtime. That wasn't very nice.

I enjoyed staying at Kempinski in Chengdu. Lovely hotel, great spacious, modern and clean rooms. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I was not impressed with swimming pool and spa area but I still would come back here next time. In my opinion it's one of the best hotels in the city alongside The Ritz Carlton and The Temple House.

Except one person on duty at the reception no one in this hotel is capable of speaking at least the basics of English what is a shame for a brand like Kempinski in my opinion. If you want to use the pool you need to wear a swimming cap. The hotel does only offer you to buy one. Staff at the spa area doesn’t speak a word English.

Good location, pretty near to places of interest & restaurants by subway or by car. Breakfast is good, however, they are the same everyday.

Room temperature cannot be adjusted cause its centralised, a little warm in the room, so the hotel staff open up the windows in the room to let the cold air in.

Executive lounge great, amazing staff. Breakfast was good. Overall revamp of hotel is wonderful. We have stayed here many times, first time was 2012. We are Canadian, not Chinese.

Non smoking floor, but another room was smoking. Could smell some smoke. Pool changing rooms need upgrade.

The Executive Floor team were a pleasure to deal with; professional, friendly, helpful. The hotel doormen were always professional and most helpful. They went out of their way to be of assistance. The breakfast menu was outstanding, and staff helpful.

Lovely room, newly renovated, spacious, clean, really nice toiletries and the bed was comfortable. Also very instagrammable. The hotel staff was very helpful also, helped us book taxis, loaded luggage for us and even helped book tourist tickets.

nothing i didnt like but if i HAD to say something was that the shower pressure could of been abit more powerful.

Room was big and nice. Great view from window. Very comfortable bed. Hotel is very clean. Pool area is nice with hot small pools. Breakfest is very good, big selection of chinese and international food. Great variety of fruits, fresh juices.

Location is not very good, but not far away street food. Shopping also is quite far, need taxi. Sub station is 2 min away
