Really truly beautiful place. A wonderful garden with the volcano looming in the background, all seen from the veranda where we had a good dinner (be sure to order ahead of time) and breakfast. The pool to the side of the house was, as the rest of the place, well-maintained and we enjoyed using it. Rooms were large and accommodating, and the ceiling fan worked well. Peter and his staff were excellent and attentive hosts, and they arranged for his to see the nearby former plantation.

At some point in the early morning I heard the calls to prayer, being a light sleeper. Having read some reviews I thought I would be blasted out of my bed. But having slept in Javan cities, I didn't think the calls were very loud at all out here in the quiet countryside. All the other four members of my family slept right through them,

This is a wonderful hotel set in beautiful gardens with a pool and stunning views. The villa was large with a comfortable bed, lovely linen plus a spacious ensuite with towels for showers and pool provided. The Indonesian breakfast (western available too) was generous and tasty - as was dinner. All the staff were helpful and smiley.

Alright, hear me out! We've seen some things in Indonesia. Your expectations get crushed over and over again, until you lower them enough to just be happy to get a bed that doesn't bite you. Especially with pictures. Most places you look at with an 8+ rating look stunningly beautiful and clean and everything. Until you arrive. Then you notice that everything is falling apart, filled with mold, bugs, hairs from people who stayed there before, etc. When we were on our way to this place, on our 7 hour drive, I told my partner to not get her hopes up too high. (There was a pool on the pictures, after all, but so far most of the pools were green and murky or "broken") Boy, how did we gape when we arrived! I've got a hard time rating something a 10/10 because there's always things to improve. Not with this place! Not at that price! It's almost insulting, when you compare it to every single other offer in Java (on Booking) that has rooms at this rate. (The owner is European, which made a lot of sense all of a sudden. Because money is invested in maintenance, property upkeep, etc. The place looks like new.) All that said: the room was amazing, as were the bathroom, shower, garden, pool. And the food was divine! We got a tour on the Glenmore plantation, guided by the host himself. He has so much to share about his life and life in Indonesia, etc. Did I mention how divine the food was?

I gave this a 10 out of 10, what do you want? Okay, here's one thing: Kalibaru is so far away from all the typical tourist stuff. (Bromo, Tumpak Sewu, etc.) But if you're on your way, by train, from Probolinggo to Banyuwangi (after doing Malang - Tumpak Sewu, to Probolinggo - Bromo), I definitely recommend putting in a stop in this place to check out the plantations.

What we liked: The host (Dutch) was very friendly and welcoming. He picked us up from the train station, we had some interesting talks, he gave us very good tips and tricks for our journey further in Bali. As such, we came in contact with Ronnie (+62 812-3911-297) whom guided us in most of our travels in Bali. Back to the hotel; it is a small 'center parcs' with 1 main house and two smaller houses. The smaller houses host both two rooms for guests. The pool was great. The room was great! Everything was nicely decorated. It was like a small relaxing paradise.

The WIFI connection in the room could be better, at the main house were breakfast was served it was OK. Furthermore the bed was a bit to hard according to my girlfriend, for myself it was OK. Finally, at 3 AM in the morning the mosque nearby started shouting it's morning pray. Normally I sleep through anything (ambulance, trains, et cetera) but this even woke up me. But, the hosts provides ear buts to ease this discomfort.

Stunning accommodation set amidst a beautiful garden with great views of the nearby volcano and paddy fields. A peaceful and serene haven with attentive staff and great food.

The room was amazing, very spacious, and clean. Dini was out host the two first nights, and I have two say she was really kind helpful and attentive. My girlfriend is vegan, and Dini managed to do some delicious vegan meals with local recipes.

Breakfast was nice. The guesthouse is situated in a lovely garden away from the main road. We arrived in the evening and had to leave the next morning so not sure about further surroundings. Would recommend staying a bit longer do to enjoy the peace and quiet.

Bed/cushion too hard for me so did not sleep very well.

The hotel has a wonderful garden. It is very calm, quiet and relaxing, you are sourrounded by nature. Breakfast is excellent. We did the tour of the plantations with Pepe and it has been one of the highlight of our trips in Java

Mosquee is very near but we slept well anyway

Great location, great staff, great food. Big garden with nice swimming pool, budha statues, flowers, palmtrees.

If you are annoyed by the call to prayer in the morning, then this may not be the right location for you.

if you are sensitive to noise the call to prayer from the nearby mosque in the early morning may bother you. we did not find it a problem and our children slept straight through it.
