The red sanstone cliffs make the property so worth visiting. You won’t find hiking trails such as those in neighboring lodges and not even those in sesriem. The lodge offers sossusvlei excursion which costs about 150 usd per person where lunch and unlimited drinks are included. The sundowner excursion just around 50 usd is a must! The sunset from the top of the red sandstone cliffs is out of this world and they serve a beautiful snack tray with drinks while you enjoy the sunset. There’s wildlife everywhere such as oryxes, birds like guinea fowls, some guys saw giraffes and foxes too. Our guides in both excursions were so nice and professional. The buffet breakfast was just ok in my opinion nothing extravagant but decent. The buffet dinner also was just ok although the grilled steak was nice. The design of the reception, the restaurant, and the pool area is lovely with ornate ceilings and walls. I enjoyed shopping in their souvenir shop. It was a good decision to stay here instead of Sesriem for the sundowner at the sandstone cliffs, and the well marked hiking trails by the cliffs. The room has a safe where you can put your valuables and the heater worked just fine. There’s a good supply of hot water which I really enjoyed after each excursion. My room had a perfect view of the cliffs which I enjoyed from the huge balcony. The property has 2 swimming pools with great views. Wifi worked perfectly everywhere even in rooms that are far from the reception and restaurant.

The rooms are old with some chipped glass in the window. The room didn’t have blackout curtains so it can be really bright during the day although if you’re staying for 2 nights you will most of the time be outside doing the excursions. If you’re staying longer, it can be a problem. There’s no TV in the room but who goes there to watch TV. If they can put blackout curtains to cover all the windows that would be awesome. The lady preparing the omelette at the breakfast buffet mistakenly gave my omelette to another person, not a big deal but I still thought it wasn’t super nice. Bear with her because there can be really plenty of guests requesting omelette during breakfast so I don’t really blame her for being confused sometimes.

The beauty of the scenery where Namib Desert Lodge is situated is not possible to do justice in photos. They have some marked trails you can hike by yourself, but also arrange trips and activities. It's a 2 hr drive from Sossusvlei and, yes, they do arrange daily excursions there - a must! The staff at Namib Desert Lodge were all wonderful - attentive and taking the best care of us. The room I had was great - clean and comfortable. The restaurant had good food - game meat always part of the menu - and they have a good wine cellar. I stayed five days and really relaxed there - enjoyed sitting outside in the lounge chairs with a book and watch a group of oryx/gemsbok come by the water hole just outside the lodge, every afternoon.

+ Room and bathroom all clean. + They left us a gift for our wedding anniversary which was really nice. + Not all staff looked happy to work but we noticed manager was around and she greeted us warmly each time. + Special kudos to Nesto (from the reception) who welcomed us and took care of us during our stay. He booked us in for dinner at another property and it was all done so smooth. We loved it! All of this we rate 10/10.

- Breakfast was a bit poor quality (not a lot of options for vegetarian or lactose-intolerant people) - Good WiFi in the main reception area but no Internet in the room All of this we rate 7/10.

Very friendly well-train staff (guide Rone is the best), good service (like a 5-star hotel). Resort stay not far from Sesriem - and you can order excursion to Sossusvlei. Near hotel is a border of Namib Desert and you can walk there for free. Have many interesting trails. Hotel provide tasty and interesting food - tasty meat from different Namibian animals. Free breakfast have big choose of food (buffet). In low season hotel put guests in separate bungalows (one bungalow is for two room) - you will stay only 1 room in 1 bungalow. When stay in room you can see many different animals - oryx, boar, birds...

Room inside bungalow very small, all very basic. No have even fridge. Very simple bathroom (for this price). Dinner should be include price of room. Not easy for arrive here - hotel stay 3-4km away from main road and main road is terrible (but is problem of all this area Solitaire-Sesriem).

Staff put great effort into giving you an amazing experience in the Namib desert. Greatly appreciated. Very clean and tidy. The excursions they offer are given by very dedicated and experienced guides. I really recommend the Sundowner Dune Drive and the Sossusvlei Excursion (where abundant food was provided all day!)

I can’t think of anything

The overall location and dinner. Dinner team was great.

The facilities are already a bit tired, in general the property needs a stronger management. As a hospitality professional I know what I stand behind. Value/money does not firmly support the brand anymore.

This is a fabulously situated lodging next to the fossilized red dunes of the Namib desert. The gemsboks are attracted to the lodge and come in very close to its borders, allowing for optimum wildlife viewing and photography. The hikes around the lodge were very nice and there were many birds. The meals were very good and the staff are super friendly. The female chef was particularly charming and came out after each meal to see how we liked our food. There are two pools. A freak sandstorm with rain and thunder arrived suddenly one night at dinner and the staff quickly relocated diners from outside to safety inside and suggested we move our cars to avoid damage from overhanging branches. They were very kind and thoughtful.

This is an older property and the rooms are underwhelming, pretty small and have shared, thin walls. We asked to switch to a quieter room at the end of the walkway with no noisy next door neighbors and it was well worth it. The lodge was not full so I don't understand why they placed everyone tightly together in the first place.
