This was the ryokan experience I was looking for, in a modern setting. From the moment we pulled the car in the parking lot until the moment we left, omotenashi was the key word. Our room was super clean and had a great view over lake Hamana. The onsen had a similar view as well from the open air bath. The staff was very friendly and professional. Breakfast was excellent and in the neighbourhood you'll find small restaurants offering the local specialty: unagi. The large majority of the staff only speaks Japanese, this wasn't a problem for me as I speak a fair bit of Japanese, but keep your translation app at the ready if you don't.

My first experience at a ryokan and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. They have onsite private onsens (around $5/person) and a 'public' (gender separated) onsen. Both look out upon the bay and are incredibly relaxing and beautiful. The room itself was a splurge and wonderful. The room with tatami mats smell great with a light wood-smell and the futon beds were incredibly comfy. The staff was really nice and helpful and the room was filled with goodies like nice robes, crackers, and tea. I don't know about the onsite food or massage options.

Nothing - a little pricey but worth it in every way.

This is a magical, beautiful place to have a memorable experience. I'm so glad that I chose to stay here with my family. The staff was very welcoming and gave us a ride to the bus stop. The dinner is amazing. You definitely leave full. We enjoyed the breakfast as well. The onsen experience was very special. I had the place to myself both times that I went and I tried every single tub. The views from the lobby, the room, and the onsen are really beautiful.

Such a small thing, but we didn't like the smell in the elevators. They need airing out. No big deal at all.

Quiet place to visit, good place to escape from over touristy area. Super authentic Japanese food if you opt for breakfast and dinner. Good experience to have at least once in your lifetime. Private bath/onsen room, clean and with perfect lake view out from the room, which is another added bonus, please check and book a slot (45min per slot) from front desk.

None so far.

We wanted to try out a traditional Japanese room and everything attached to that. This definitely ticked the boxes. Beautiful and comfortable! Also very nice that we were able to use the private onsen. That for 150 yen/person.

Not really a bad thing, more something to be aware of. You'll get a Japanese breakfast in a little private room. So we were trying to figure out what everything was. My mother didn't really enjoy everything so couldn't enjoy it completely and definitely had to eat something afterwards.

Everything! Even though the staff present during our arrival barely spoke English, they tried their best to communicate through a translator app. They helped us with making reservations for a local Udon restaurant, and overall they were just veeeeery kind - even though we are a group of foreigners.

To be honest, the date we picked wasn't optimal as it was very calm near the hotel (a few other restaurant options were closed etc.).

The hospitality extended to us upon arrival was top notch. From the receptionist offering us tea and hot towels, to her introducing our room to us… The onsen was also brilliant and well equipped. One of the best onsens i have had in my life, mainly because it was quiet and peaceful with a great view.

The attached toilet was dated and had a musky smell to it. Then again i did not use it much except to pee.

Great view out of the property from the room and pretty much everywhere! Plan included 2 meals and my 10 & 6 yr old kids basically got fed 80% of what the adults ate! Felt bad that the younger one was full halfway through the courses, and we all did try to finish what she couldn’t but still had leftovers! Did I mention the quality was excellent as well? Onsen was great too! Almost a full moon and the reflection off the calm lake was something to remember!

The room itself could use some renovation, but perhaps it’s because the dining level looks newly refurbished.

Pleasant ryokan with nice onsens. Staff were extremely helpful & polite. Great traditional breakfasts & dinners.

Area around the ryokan is very quiet on weekdays. Minimum shops & restaurants open. Most restaurants close by 8pm Latest breakfast at ryokan is 8am...so no sleeping in!

Ryokan was comfortable, staff (especially Kuwaba-san) were very helpful and attentive, and the food was excellent. I left a bag at the Shin Yokoyama car rental station. But i had no worries as the staff arranged for it to be delivered by the next day. The staff found out it was our wedding anniversary and took a nice picture that made for wonderful memories!

I wish they could switch/alternate the onsen for male/female we could experience both baths.
