This place is a genuine South African experience, with a lovely relaxed welcoming vibe. Not at all touristy but with so much to see and do. The indigenous forested environment alone, with its exceptional birding, makes Madi a Thavha worth the stay. You would not even need to leave the porch or the sparkling swimming pool to tick 50 species. The service and dining experience are top notch, and all staff are genuinely happy to attend to any problem. And they do so right away, quite unexpectedly. Park your car near reception and it will be washed beautifully for a small fee. Justice makes delicious vegetarian breakfasts by the way.  The property honestly has the very best Cable Glide in the country and over the most spectacular forest views too. Way better than well publisised Zip Wires. The crew are equipped with full body harnesses for every shape and size too. We tested this aspect. The guided walking tour to the Waterfall is worth every uphill step. Pfarelo and Frans are most interesting guides and very open to questions about the many Limpopo province cultures and ancient history of the area. I highly recommend their Cultural Tour. The accommodation grounds are wonderful for children and very safe. There are no alarming dogs on the property, but good all night security instead. As late arrivals we found Madi a Thavha very flexible and Google Maps brought us right to the front gates. The access is a dark winding forest dirt road, but a normal sedan hire car easily copes with the bumbs. This endeavour is a community cooperative so it is possible to buy locally made, fabulous artwork, from their fascinating museum and shop. From Scotland and already loving the holiday we fell in love with Madi  a Thahva. When they showed us the special tree right in the middle of the forest it changed our lives.

Our only regret is that we didn't book at least three nights at this special destination.

The location is perfect, we were surrounded by beautiful Mountain views. The Staff is always ready to assist with out hesitation. We did almost everything, from Zipling, to Quadbiking then Hiking. We had our owe picnic on a very nice spot over looking the mountains. All thanks to the Chef and kitchen staff our meals were beautifully made. Thank you for a great experience🙏

The pressure of the water in the showers needs to be attended to.

Staff are super friendly and helpful. The location is superb close to waterfalls and beautiful sceneries. And the bonus is the beautiful permanent Gallery of African Traditions. The Room was very comfortable and beautiful. I liked it so much I prolonged my stay.

It was really nice. The staff were receptive to our needs. Breakfast was good.

Hot water must be checked in all the rooms as this gives comfort to guests.

Enjoyed some nice days. The hiking area is really good. My chalet was fine

There is some trash (bottles) in the hiking area. Whether it is easy to get rid of, I do not know, but I think it would be a good idea to try to keep it clean.

The chef was exceptional. Justice is a great cook, his food was out of this world.

The bedding sheets and towels are old and no longer soft. The room didn't have a mini closet, iron or hairdryer

The breakfast was very good and served in the dining room. We received a menu for dinner the night before that we could select from and it was excellent. I think we could have had a similar option for breakfast, but it was a very good breakfast.

A problem with most establishments and lodges that have multiple rooms in close proximity to each other is controlling the noise that some guests make. This was a problem at Madi a Thahva, with a group having dinner at the pool and making a terrible raucous noise. Fortunately, it was still relatively early and Khatu allowed us to change rooms and we moved to a lovely room away from the noise. As said we have had numerous unpleasant experiences with loud guests at other venues.
