Beautiful location on hilltop, overseeing valley. Nice moderate temperature and clean air. It's also a historical location: there was once a Dutch boarding school for planter's children. In WW2 the Japanese used it as POW camp. This is all demolished. There still is a 'Dutch house' though of a planter's family in good shape. You can visit it and the people of Sibayak Multinational Rest House are happy to show and explain everything. Talking of them: they are very sweet and helpful and fantastic cooks! Very much recommended.

For this price, you will not be disappointed

What an amazing family that greets you in their home - It is so fun with them! If you want to go to Sibayak volcano, it’s a perfect starting point. If you want to rent a scooter - they will get one for you. I personally didn’t mind the cold shower - there are rooms with hot water. The room could use a little refreshment, but good value for the money. And they do prepare amazing food - try to get the passion fruit juice, definitely my favorite! If the weather is good, use their amazing garden for relaxation.

I had an amazing stay here in this rest house. The room was clean en big, the bed was comfy. The location of this place is perfect, it’s just outside the busy city together with the garden makes it a peaceful place. The food is amazing and there are plenty of options What made my stay amazing was the family. I only booked for 2 nights and ended up staying for a week because it felt like home. The family is lovely and welcoming, it’s like you are part of the family. Winnie and Karina took me out to see the nice places around Berastagi. This is so far the best place I stayed here in Indonesia.

Massive grounds and room. Quiet. Super friendly and helpful staff (organised trips and onwards travel for us).

20mins walk into town - but that was why it was quiet! Very easy and cheap to get a little bus or walk. Maybe needed an extra blanket a a bit cold at night

This property was a very nice stay and starting point for Sibayak as well as Sipiso Piso. Our room (particularly bathroom) wasn’t very clean and you could hear everything during evening and night but everything else was amazing! The owners are kind, the food was delicious, they exchanged our money, washed our clothes, booked a guide for the whole day trip (we don’t know his name but he was the best), and organized a transfer. All in all, very nice. Thank you!

You really feel like home over there! Family business since 3 and almost 4 generations, the staff is amazingly kind, fun and lovely! The food is delicious and affordable! The location is perfect to go trekking, and the place is very relaxing.

Just miss the hot shower, otherwise it would be perfect

Huge lawns at the front, the pine trees and the fishponds in the hidden bowl like depression at the back of the property . Small sit outs in the garden, a couple of swings and benches give enough space to everyone. The family that runs it bring on an additional positive vibe. As they say, came as a stranger left as a friend

Quiet place with a very nice garden, big rooms and welcoming owners. Very closed from the city center, the karonese museum and fruits market. Ideally located for the access to Sibayak volcano 🌋

The hotel staff were very helpful and arranged our airport transfer and excursions prior to our visit. Our excursion involved climbing the volcano for sunrise, swim in the hot springs, visit to a waterfall, Buddhist temple and replica Karo house. The excursion took about 8 hours. Our guide was excellent. Winnie was very helpful with all our questions during the stay. It's about 20 minutes walk to the main town/ fruit market, we caught the local bus in and out of town which only took a few minutes.
