Centrally located in the heart of the old town, this hotel was clean, appeared to be recently remodeled, and the room was very quiet. The included breakfast was simple, yet the choices of breads, cereals, cold cuts, pastries, and beverages was more than adequate for our needs.

For those traveling by car with more than just an overnight bag, be aware that limited parking is some distance from the hotel, the streets are mostly pedestrianized, there are no taxis or porterage service, and the cobblestone roads are rarely flat!! While this is not the fault of the hotel, traveling "light" is essential for maximizing your enjoyment of this hilltop venue.

The hotel is very close to all historic sites of San Marino. The area is safe, clean, and easily accessible from Parking 6. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious enough - sufficient space for luggage and clothing. The breakfast offered options for different tastes - cereal, yoghurt and fruit, cold cuts, boiled eggs and a variety of fresh pastries - as well as a good choice of coffees and juices. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. I left my water bottle at the hotel when checking out, and the receptionist messaged me and kept it for me. This was a nice and friendly touch.

The location is very close to the cable car, basilica, restaurant Titanum and most top sightseeing spots. Cosy compact hotel with an elevator. We got a superior room on the 3rd floor with a spectacular panoramic view (the 33/34 numbers possess this SW direction) Room with a balcony, clean and well refurbished. Beds are very comfortable. Kettle with an instant coffee sort and some tea packets available. A steamer (as an option to iron) by request was provided. The medieval type breakfast room, a good choice,but only a warm meal was missing.

Although not easy to find in the dark on first visit to San Marino's pedestrian zone, La Grotta is well worth the effort. Lovely hotel, very cosily heated in November, spotless room, excellent bathroom. We had booked a twin room but were given a three bedded room which I guess was a little more spacious. All hotel staff were helpful and friendly, some spoke better English than others but it was never a problem. Breakfast suited us - fruit, yoghurt, pastries, cheese and cold meat, hot and cold drinks all in a dedicated dining room. Once we found our bearings we realised how well located the hotel is, highly recommended.

Short walk from the entrance to the historic center of town through the walls of the city. Easy access to all of the sites. We were on the third floor with a large balcony that had an amazing view and a seating area. The room was small but comfortable. The entire hotel was clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. There are two parking areas close to the hotel. It was well worth the effort of transporting our luggage from the parking area in order to stay in such a beautiful place.

The hotel is very nice and the overall level surpasses many 4* hotels we have stayed at. The location is unbeatable, just about 100 meters from the old city walls (which cars can´t enter). Cars can be then parked next to the city gate and hotel reception will issue a guest card enabling parking for 4 EUR a day. Staffers are very nice, rooms and bathrooms clean, location in the old city is just magical. Rooms are equipped with small fridges, windows can be darkened using shutters. We especially loved the stylish restaurant where breakfast was served. Unlike many hotels, the coffee served from coffee machines was actually delicious. We would stay here again.

The room lacks a single wardrobe which is a bit of a problem for guests intending to stay several nights (like us), but I understand most people only spend here 1 night because not much time is needed to enjoy this "pocket" capital. Next, the hotel´s pet-friendly policy must be welcomed by folks travelling with their pets, but other guests might need to sacrifice their sleep. First day of our stay there was a constant dog barking from one of the nearby rooms. Fortunately, it stopped around 10 p.m. and never repeated. What happened we don´t know but we certainly dreaded the possibility of 3 sleepless nights. Hotel´s pet policies should always ensure also comfort of guests without dogs.

Loved the friendly atmosphere when we arrived. The receptionist was so nice and accommodating. All staff were so helpful.The location was brilliant, so near to all the major attractions, the views from our room balcony were truly amazing. The breakfast was great, loads to choose from.La Grotta is a 3 star hotel San Marino is a beautiful country, although it is small, if you want to relax and chill out, this is the place to go where the air is so pure.

The location was ideal, although I would recommend if you drive that you park your car at the uppermost parking area that puts you at the entrance gate closest to La Grotta. The breakfast was terrific - they offered hard-boiled eggs, in addition to the usual continental breakfast items.

The room was a bit cramped for three people.

Great location. Close to parking (P6). Clean and very spacious rooms (We had a superior on the top floor with fantastic views). The selection of free drinks in the mini bar was a great touch after a long drive. The room and bathroom included were modern and very comfortable for 2 people. Breakfast was continental in style and ample to get you going for the day. The hotel overall is very good value for money and I have paid double for similar in other locations.

Nothing. It states it’s a 3 star. Personally (with a bar added, however there are dozens within walking distance) it’s closer to a 5 star.

Unfortunately, the description did not indicate that the hotel is not accessible by car. I only found out about this before leaving while planning my route. And a couple of days before check-in, the staff sent a message about this. This spoiled the impression. Fortunately, we were lucky and there was a free space in parking number 6, which is the closest to the hotel, so we didn't have to walk that far. Therefore, I recommend planning your packing so that you only need to carry a minimum of luggage to the hotel, otherwise it can be annoying due to the distance to the packing.
