Location - right in the middle of the Historic Centre. All the historic sights were within 10 minutes walk of the hotel, and for eating there were several cafes or restaurants, all good, within 10 paces of the front door. When we were delayed by several hours in arriving due to a transport strike in Italy the hotel reception stayed open to welcome us even though we were very late. Breakfast - some of the best croissants we have ever tasted (yes we have been to France many times!). There was complimentary coffee available downstairs round the clock, which was a great way to rest in between different visits to sites in the city. The reception staff were always happy to stop and chat with us as were the chamber maids, which all made the hotel feel very welcoming. Our Italian is not very good, and they all spoke good English but were happy to let us try Italian first until we got stuck. The bedroom we were in was very thoughtfully decorated in soothing strong colours, with attractive and unusual furniture - we really looked forward to returning to it, and lastly the shower was beautifully simple to operate. The bed was firm and supported our aging backs perfectly.

We loved the location in the old town! We took quadruple room, where the 2nd twin bed stayed in a small corridor next to the bathroom entrance. The room and hotel were very clean. We also liked breakfast variety. The room was on the 1st floor and didnt have good view. But it didnt bother us, as we didnt plan to stay long inside. The hotel doesn't have parking, but we were lucky to get the last parking space in P6, which is literary 2 mins walk from the hotel. The parking is free after 20 till 8. If I wouldn't get a place there, I would unload the suitcases and let my husband park in P7 and come back. Next day, we could load our stuff back to the car and enjoy the old town with its wonderful towers as much as we wanted. I would definitely come back to this hotel.

What a spectacular view from the balcony of room 36! The room itself was nice, we liked having a desk and chair, The bed was comfortable. Bathroom could have used a shelf somewhere to put things but had an amazing shower with excellent water pressure something that's hard to find in some of these old properties in Italy. Grateful for an elevator even as slow as it was. We took the Bonelli bus from Rimini and meant to get off at Borgo Maggiore to catch the cable car to the top which would have put us very close to the hotel but missed the stop and took it to the end requiring us to pull our luggage 750 meters up hill to the hotel. The location was perfect, just a struggle to get there and we travel pretty light.

I purposely book rooms with air conditioning when I know it will be hot. We couldn't seem to get the unit to cool, thinking I didn't know how to operate the remote, I took it down to the front desk and asked how to set it. He was too busy watching TV to care and shrugged his shoulders and said it was broken and to open a window. I was already covered in bites from the mosquitoes so that wasn't a solution. It was 80 degrees in our room all night.

The hotel is very close to all historic sites of San Marino. The area is safe, clean, and easily accessible from Parking 6. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious enough - sufficient space for luggage and clothing. The breakfast offered options for different tastes - cereal, yoghurt and fruit, cold cuts, boiled eggs and a variety of fresh pastries - as well as a good choice of coffees and juices. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. I left my water bottle at the hotel when checking out, and the receptionist messaged me and kept it for me. This was a nice and friendly touch.

Centrally located in the heart of the old town, this hotel was clean, appeared to be recently remodeled, and the room was very quiet. The included breakfast was simple, yet the choices of breads, cereals, cold cuts, pastries, and beverages was more than adequate for our needs.

For those traveling by car with more than just an overnight bag, be aware that limited parking is some distance from the hotel, the streets are mostly pedestrianized, there are no taxis or porterage service, and the cobblestone roads are rarely flat!! While this is not the fault of the hotel, traveling "light" is essential for maximizing your enjoyment of this hilltop venue.

This place is fabulous; highly recommend! Located a 10 min walk from the central bus station (which we took from Rimini train station direct!) this cute, historic hotel is located right in the center of San Marino. Many restaurants and shopping are right outside the front door yet it’s pretty quiet at night! Beautiful sunset view out our window. Super clean and included breakfast was fabulous (hot croissants right out of the oven!). Just a few minutes walk from all the attractions. Highly recommend.

The location is very close to the cable car, basilica, restaurant Titanum and most top sightseeing spots. Cosy compact hotel with an elevator. We got a superior room on the 3rd floor with a spectacular panoramic view (the 33/34 numbers possess this SW direction) Room with a balcony, clean and well refurbished. Beds are very comfortable. Kettle with an instant coffee sort and some tea packets available. A steamer (as an option to iron) by request was provided. The medieval type breakfast room, a good choice,but only a warm meal was missing.

Although not easy to find in the dark on first visit to San Marino's pedestrian zone, La Grotta is well worth the effort. Lovely hotel, very cosily heated in November, spotless room, excellent bathroom. We had booked a twin room but were given a three bedded room which I guess was a little more spacious. All hotel staff were helpful and friendly, some spoke better English than others but it was never a problem. Breakfast suited us - fruit, yoghurt, pastries, cheese and cold meat, hot and cold drinks all in a dedicated dining room. Once we found our bearings we realised how well located the hotel is, highly recommended.

Nicely appointed hotel centrally located in the town. Friendly breakfast room staff. Nice bed linens. Breakfast options were good.

One front desk person was not as friendly or helpful as we expected. Our room was close to the elevator and stairs so the hall was noisy at times. Carpet in our room was old and worn and needs to be replaced. Shower is very small. Some parking lots are quite far from the hotel so getting luggage to the hotel can be a daunting task.

Short walk from the entrance to the historic center of town through the walls of the city. Easy access to all of the sites. We were on the third floor with a large balcony that had an amazing view and a seating area. The room was small but comfortable. The entire hotel was clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. There are two parking areas close to the hotel. It was well worth the effort of transporting our luggage from the parking area in order to stay in such a beautiful place.
