This was my second stay at Hotel Le Chateau and as in 2019 I found it a very nice place to stay. The view out onto the Rhone is wonderful, the staff are very helpful and the breakfast is very nice. The hotel is well situated, only a 10 minute walk from the Tain Le Hermitage station and very close to many nice restaurants in Tournon. It is on the edge of the old town and it is very nice to wander these streets. In advance of my stay the hotel had indicated that I could leave a large suitcase there for 2 days while I was embarking on a cycling trip on La Dolce Via. When I arrived back two days later the check in was quick and my suitcase was retrieved from the storeroom. Highly recommend staying in this nice older style hotel.

There was nothing at all that I did not like.

Staff were very helpful and hotel facilities were good. Breakfast was excellent. Lots of variety. Had to obtain an iron which was provided.

Parking was a bit of a nightmare. You had to park in the main square and obtain a time permit from the tourist buearu which the staff did not let us know. The are 3 rows of parking. Back row 8 hours middle row 4 hours and from rows an hour. As were there for 2 nights we moved our car a number of times to ensure our vehicle was now towed away.

The facade of the hotel is beautifully overgrown with climbing plants, creating an old-manor-like feeling. And the river view from the window is also beautiful. What's more, the lady at reception was very helpful - we arrived too late because of a train delay but she found a way how to save our day (or rather our night). Merci beaucoup :-).

The location is perfect, an inhouse parking available even if not easy to reach (old town) but large parkings at a walking distance, same for restaurants of various kind. If you are Lucky choose a room with a view on the Rhône river and hermitage and Saint Joseph wineyards.close to the Tournon historical castle. Great team

Shower was not very convenient. Maneuvering with wheelchair was not easy ( I realize that this cannot be expected in older hotels so don’t see this as negative comment - it is simply a fact).

difficult access as fronts directly onto road which was jammed with traffic when we arrived. nowhere to park while going in to hotel to find out about parking. As with many French hotels there was no kettle and no fridge.

Wonderful location overlooking the river and the north bank properties. Breakfast was always with a view.

They had a lift which we weren’t expecting. Matilda on reception was excellent. The room was very modern and the price exceptional. Breakfast was very good and reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

Like most of the properties we have stayed in in France, the shower floors are very slippery!
