The location was perfect - right on the beach front for a very good price! The beach was huge - all that soft sand to walk on, very clean, plus a pathway if you preferred not to walk on the sand. The view was amazing. Our cabin was a walk away from this. On site parking, nice porch to sit on and watch the view. Inside was spacious and everything we needed was in this cabin, even a washing machine! The bathroom was huge - bonus heat light and the best shower I have ever had - not even a hotel has bettered this one - great pressure and easy to use - wow! Kitchen had all we needed to cook dinner, do dishes and keep things cold in the huge fridge. Comfy dining chairs on a good size table. Comfy single chair plus a lounge suite. Bed was comfy enough for one night and the pillows also. Nice extras like luggage tray, fly spray, power outage box of goodies, pegs for washing line, outside chairs on porch, lovely soft grass to walk on. What can I say - the best cabin accommodation we have ever had - worth the long and arduous drive out there. Only stayed one night in our self contained cabin - wished we could have stayed longer. Thank you!

Overall Experience We had an excellent experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and found both the staff and the accommodation to be excellent. The facilities were comfortable and offered ample space.

As a wheelchair user, I found the bungalow (motel 3) fully accessible, especially the bathroom with its non-slip floor and convenient grab rail by the toilet. The shower bench was very helpful, though adding a grab rail in the shower would make it easier to get up unassisted.

The motel room was lovely. It felt like staying in a small house and would be good for a small family. The staff were friendly and helpful and I liked the cozy feel of the motel room. In terms of location within Castlepoint, it seemed very central, being close to the beach, the general store and the walking track to the lighthouse is around 10-15 minutes down the road. The scenery around Castlepoint is breathtaking, with some of it visible from the front windows of the room.

Castlepoint’s general location is quite remote so just a heads-up to other travellers that food and other supplies are not readily available in Castlepoint itself, if you intend on arriving after 4 or 5 pm. The closest supermarket is 50 minutes away in Masterton.

Once we got our room sorted, we enjoyed having a unit with lovely views, close to the beach. The rooms were warm and comfortable. The staff were very nice, welcoming and helpful.

Booking through Booking.com seemed easy, but misleading. We had to make contact with the complex direct, to get our room sorted.

Great location, sea and lighthouse views from unit. 50m walk to the beach. Close to coffee and dairy too.

Could use a spruce up... it's not terrible, but we've stayed in better. The location makes you look the other way though.

We had a wonderful short break away. The staff were friendly, informative and awesome. The views, landscape and whole vibe were amazing.

Support the local dairy/shop, but that's really it, so bring your own food if you want a more extensive meal than fish & chips. There is always the pub 10 minutes drive away which i hear sells great country food.

Great view of the beach and lighthouse from lounge. Loved sitting at the dinning room table and eating with a view. Extremely comfortable bed and pillows. A must for me. Portacot was brand new and good quality. Kitchen well equipped and lovely bodywash, shampoo and conditioner provided. Staff were very present and helpful. We enjoyed staying in August as it wasn't busy yet could enjoy the walks including to the lighthouse. Local shop closes at 4pm but offers coffee, essentials and fish n chips which was handy. We took too much food thinking there was nothing out here.

Loved the stay and the cabin number 1 was fantastic. Castlepoint is a fav place and it was lovely to revisit it after probably 15 years since last being there. Everything we needed was in the cabin. We knew we had to bring bed linen and towels so such as this was well communicated to us before arrival. Will come and stay again espec if we can have cabin 1. It has a lovely view of the lighthouse.

Would have been great to have a brush and pan for sweeping up crumbs, sand. There was a broom but no pan to sweep crumbs into. And the vacuum cleaner was ancient but did the trick. We have a Dyson at home so having an old vaccum cleaner was a bit of a shock lol !!!

Perfect set up for our lil family of 2 adults and one teenager. Very clean, washing machine added bonus. Full kitchen facilities minus an actual oven. Bbq was in immaculate condition. Would definitely stay again.

Toaster was a bit temperamental, but not a big deal.

Fabulous location looking along the beach towards the lighthouse. Close to the sea and can listen to the waves. Cosy motel unit to hang out during wild spring weather.

There was no room for a bedside table on one side of the bed in the living area. The other room didn't have them at all as space was limited. Needs shelves or some other solution. The mini-oven needed a thorough clean or replacement.
