Be aware that the place is quite remite to be sure it meets your expectations: it's a nice place for those who seek to relax and chill by the beach. The garden is beautiful, preserving the jungle surroundings. The owner is nice and willing to do his best to please the visitors. Our feedback is that the place is welcoming but activities and animations could be added to make enhance visitors' stay.

The restaurant changes its menu every meal and cook fresh ingredients but we have found it to be quite pricey in comparison with the rest of our stay in Zanzibar. The pool is nice but deserved to be more maintain. The beach is beautiful, filled with mangroves - but it was not very clean so one might refrain from swimming.

We stayed on the first floor, the room was with new and efficient air conditioning and the canopy bed was large and comfortable. Very good contact with the owner and friendly staff, great attention to the daily cleanliness of the room. Thank you! Additional attractions, e.g. in the form of performances by a local acrobatic group or dancers/singers. Good food and nice service in the restaurant. More of a family than hotel vibe - real Zanzibar, especially once you cross the gates of the resort, e.g. fishing village. Current sea ebbs and flows are quite frequent, but they can be an additional attraction. Swimming is possible without restrictions directly at the resort. All current optional excursions throughout the island are available directly from the resort's reception.

The resort is located in the southwest of Zanzibar Island, slightly away from other resorts. Although it is a perfect place to relax in comfort (without crowds of tourists on the beach), swim, snorkel from a boat, if you want to get to know the island better and visit other places, you will not be able to do without renting a car or ordering a taxi.

As a solo traveller looking for quiet this is what I needed - thankfully no kite surfing and other such activities. I ate delicious simple fish and veg from the one restaurant - which was all I needed. Relatively shallow waters in the sea suited me fine as I didn't want to swim - however there was a pool too if I'd wanted to use it. The fishing village was close by. I liked to watch the many crabs. I chose to swap my night in stone town to stay here - I did pop into stone town on my way home - but this place was more my kind of place. The staff were kind and helpful.

The plastic on the beach is such a big problem and such a shame. Seems most has been picked up from in front of the accommodation but elsewhere way too much - its so sad. I picked plastic up off other beaches I visited (all visitors should help) but here there was just way too much.

Firstly location is idyllic, our own private bungalow a few meters from the pool and from the beach. Air conditioning was great and always hot water. Cleaning service was great when you need it. Daily if required but we chose not to need this every day. The beach is very private apart from a few local children who are lovely. No sellers. Vews are amazing. Perfect place to relax in the pool looking at the ocean with the ladies from the bar bringing cocktails right to us. Real cocktails, nothing weak or watered down. The staff at Menai Bay are amazing. Very good English speaking. Very attentive to all needs and will facilitate anything we needed, we made real friends. Food is amazing and very substantial, we even stored some in our own fridge to snack on later. Both Managers Mohammed and Mohammed we really helpful and friendly and would ask us of there was anything we needed. We are very cat friendly and there are some local cats there that we were happy to feed and staff are friendly to all animals. We had the pleasure to experience a few local acrobatic shows just for us in the resort. Basically on the beach with a nice fire. We rented a motorcycle for a few days and was nice to visit the island but was always lovely to return to our tranquil paradise. Perfect place for a couple or for friends travelling together. There was nothing we did not like

Perfect get-away location for those who want to chill in peace and unbothered after spending time in a busy beach location full of guides and masais. The bungalows are very stylish, located in a very green area where you feel the nature has been untouched, with great food and very nice staff! Wifi is super strong, good also for “home office” if you need to :-) Nicely cleaned swimming pool makes up for the strong low-high tide.

Space in the bungalow was a but too tight for 3 people, but should be perfect for 2. The animals running and jumping around might be scary for those not used to them - if you are afraid of crabs and bush babies than it is not your place! ;-)

• The staff, from Reception to gardeners were all so friendly and helpful • The restaurant and bar – a good variety and reasonably priced, especially the cocktails • The swimming pool, with a wonderful view • The sunsets and dawns - wonderful • The gardens, well looked after and cool • The location, right on the beach, just along from a picturesque, if slightly smelly, fishing village

• The steps down onto the beach – we found these a real hazard • The fish was often overcooked to our taste, maybe because it had been kept warm – always serve fish as soon as it’s cooked • The rooms and balconies are quite small and can be airless, although the aircon and fans work - we think they would do well to have seating in the shade in the gardens where there is breeze • Noise from the village bar in the evening but it wasn't too bad

this place is exactly what it it on these pictures exquisite! I had a fun time here the stuff are amazing ! ANYTHING you need you can always call Boss Mohammed (the manager) to sort it out ! and that’s amazing !!! he’s such a great chap! the ladies at the restaurant were great too! I loved each and everyone of them! the location is great! the internet is good and the breakfast is the best I’ve had in these parts!!!

I think 🤔 a good idea would be to include at least 1 contraceptive in the rooms ❤️

Menai bay bungalows is in a beautiful and quiet secluded corner of Zanzibar, far from the beachgoing hordes and from the chaotic bustle of the town. The bungalows are lovely and the facilities generally very comfortable. The staff was helpful and kind. It is also cool to watch the fisherman in the village work from the terrace, and there are excellent waterbird and crab watching opportunities on the beach at low tide.

the place is set in a beautiful garden,with wildlife,the staff were great,really friendly,the chefs were great,even in the end making my meals that i asked for,food was amazing,and mohamud would go out of his way to make your stay as good as possible.in the end i did not want to leave,so peaceful and tranquil,for once i was truly relaxed.

nothing really, just that you have to catch the beach at the right time of the year.lol

I absolutely loved this place. It's such a natural, pure, gorgeous, rare to find piece of paradise. The bungalows are located close to a small village surrounded with the greenest forest consisting of mango, banana, coconut, palm trees and yes even baobabs. The beach is unlike any other I've seen on the island, it's free of husslers and you can walk for miles and miles! The bungalows were very clean and super comfortable. We slept so good! But most of all the staff beyond exceeded my expectations. The managers Mohammed and mohammed are so friendly and helpful and all the other staff members were really so kind to my son and I. We enjoyed the life music and circus performances in the night, swimming in the swimming pool, going on long walks, admiring the live in bushbaby (yes they even have a bushbaby that comes to visit every evening). We absolutely love this place! I recommend to everybody who want to get away from the tourist traps on zanzibar and want to enjoy beautiful nature, comfy bungalows, amazing food and drink and good atmosphere.
