We came here at the very end of our trip for a couple days of relaxation after all the travelling. The location is quiet with not much around it but that didn't matter to us because we were looking to enjoy the resort. The resort in amazing! Absolute paradise. The staff are incredible, everyone is so friendly and kind. The pools are beautiful, the stairways to the ocean are amazing. Beautiful sunsets. The rooms are gorgeous and so clean, the most comfortable bed out of all the hotels we stayed in on our trip to Zanzibar. They have turn down service in the evenings which was so lovely to experience. The entertainment was different every evening and it was brilliant every time. All hotel facilities were amazing also. The food was great for the most part and the drinks were good too. We just want to give a special mention to one of the staff members who took part in the Aqua gym, and the pool volleyball. We think his name was Amos? He was the friendliest, most cheerful young man. We loved chatting to him everyday. He is very young, 17 years old I think, and his English is so good and he's so keen to learn. We were so impressed with him.

The turtle needs a bigger pool, he was breaking our hearts. The jacuzzi on our balcony, when we turned on the jets a load of dirt came out of them and we couldn't use the jacuzzi until it was refilled on the last day. Our toilet was leaking and smelled sometimes but it wasn't a big deal. On our last day, around 2 hours after lunch my partner became extremely unwell and that night when we were due to fly home, we ended up in hospital and missed the flight. And we were told that he had food poisoning.

Facilities are great - 2 pools with lovely views. Lots of sun loungers, Gym, padel court, jacuzzi etc. Staff are very friendly and accommodating to all needs, especially Edson who is a gentleman.

Bathroom was very smelly at all times (looked like there was an open drain pipe by the toilet?). Staff could be overbearing at times. One pool guy in particular asked for tips on multiple occasions and even arrived at our room requesting a tip… which felt like quite an invasion of privacy. Buffet option is expensive ($45) if not on all inclusive and A la carte is incredibly slow in Jua restaurant (90 minutes for pesto pasta to arrive).

My sister and I went to celebrate her birthday. We were pleasantly surprised to have our room upgraded to the ocean view - a definite must for anyone wanting to take in the full splendor of the property. The resort is beyond beautiful the pictures show only a glimpse of its extraordinary beauty. The amenities/facilities were fantastic.

The food menu was disappointing besides the breakfast buffet. The other food offered isn't amazing and highly recommend going to town for more variety and flavor. The resort is also an hour and half from main town, so consider that when booking as there isn't anything around it to do. I would definitely recommend it if you want alone time and definitely venture to other parts of the island to explore more

The staff are incredible, hotel is also lovely — we stayed in a swim up room, highly recommend. The entertainment team/life guards really do make the place, activities all day everyday (yoga/painting/volley ball/bowls) Turtles are a 2 min walk away — $11 for two for 30 mins. Only note being taxis are expensive but everything else is perfect!

Kwanza Hotel, Zanzibar - A Vibrant and Warm Stay with a Few Small Setbacks I had such a lovely stay at Kwanza Hotel in Zanzibar! From the moment we arrived, the hotel felt warm and welcoming, with beautiful surroundings and incredibly friendly staff who made us feel right at home. Our room was amazing—a spacious haven with a gorgeous private pool that we absolutely loved. To top it off, the hotel surprised us with a special celebration for my husband’s birthday, complete with thoughtful treats and decorations. Activities and Atmosphere There’s so much to do at Kwanza. The pool was a highlight for me, with water activities that kept things lively during the day. By night, the vibe shifted to something festive with traditional dances and entertainment, which added a great cultural touch. What I appreciated most, though, was how locally focused the hotel is in its hiring. There are so many people employed here, and it’s inspiring to see the hotel creating job opportunities for the local community. As a guest from another African country, it’s heartening to see the positive impact they’re making.

Minor Issues, If there’s one area that could be improved, it’s the drainage. The drains had an unpleasant smell that was noticeable at times, and I think this is something the hotel could address. Also, the towels were a bit worn out and could use a refresh. But these were minor inconveniences in what was otherwise a wonderful experience.

Absolutely beautiful!!! Child friendly with so many activities to keep the kids entertained like water sports, free painting classes, disco nights etc. The staff are extremely friendly, kind and helpful. My daughter misses all the staff, Edson the waiter always went above and beyond. The painter was so sweet and generous he gave us a gift before we left. The food was great, the rooms are beautiful with sea views and private hot tubs or pools

Maybe have an option for open fire BBQ

It deserves 10 of 10 for EVERYTHING! The Hotel locality, rooms, staff, food, facilities and classic furniturell.. Everything is new and world class! Amazing place to spend for vacation. It is by far one of the top and unique holidaying destinations in Zanzibar. The "welcome home " slogan made us feel real at home. The staff were extremely friendly, always ready to assist and smiling!! Its not easy to remember all the names cause all were great but the front Manager Mr Mahmood, Mariam, Felister at the restaurant, Sabrina at the kitchen few to mention were beyond generous. We loved so much the food. It was so taste and delicious. Mr Robin is the best Chef ever, always ready to customize the food and always had new best combinations that makes your stay memorable. I have been to many five stars Hotels in Zanzibar but the food at Kwanza was the best . If you love sea foods i highly recommend the lobsters and king prawns dishes they made. For desert go for" mananasi" you will never regret. They have a cave restaurant a Unique romantic place for dinner with your loved ones. Dont forget ro book for that you will really enjoy. KWANZA has a strong WIFI, no Power Interruptions and above all no Disturbing Beach Boys. The SUNDOWNER was most amazing. The rooms were awesome big and i loved the Timber decor and welcoming snacks provided for free. I opted for the one opened on your private swimming pool what a great experience to wake up in the morning open the door and swim in your pool? CONGRATS TO KWANZA HOTEL ZANZIBAR- you made my stay with my family memorable and enjoyable. we will definetily come again. I strongly recommend you to stay at this fantastic hotel in Zanzibar

It was a beautiful stay, the resort is new and quite with beautiful sea view. the hotel manager Mr. Mahmood made our stay very special by upgrading our rooms and many other things that made our stay exceptional, special thanks to him and to Mr. Anthony Robin the head of Chef's at the resort.

The photos shows a private beach but unfortunately there wasn't a proper beach it's a cliff.. and the nearest beach is Paje which is 30-40 min away.

The resort is nice. Liked the food. The dinning is great

The bathroom/shower does not dream well. The is an odor in the bathroom. I complained and nothing was done. It seems the room service and cleaning don't give good services. Don't take customer complaints seriously. I think the plumbing need to be redone to improve water drainage. My kids rooms did not get cleaned for 3 days even informed them.

Everything. Loved every moment. Kwanza was the perfect stay for me as solo female traveller celebrating her birthday. All staff went above and beyond. Everyone was exceptional. Shoutout to Haruna, Ramadhan, Ajay, Lydia and everyone at the restaurant and bar. Special shoutout to Mahmoud, the reception manager, for flawless care & service, from the pre-arrival call a day before , to making sure everything I needed was taken care of during my stay. Thank you Sosten, for being my personal photographer, helping me capture every moment of my stay. The room was magnificent! I was upgraded to a Sea View room with a private pool & a fabulous outdoor shower. I was offered complimentary snacks - macaroons, chocolates, fruits (including exotic fruits such as kiwis, which are not easy to find out here). Strong start for Kwanza. Decor is a stylish blend of modern & rustic: furniture pieces clearly inspired by Zanzibar's storied coast culture, with soft, luxurious touches plucked right from the shores of the Red Sea Riviera. The lighting was gourgeous, the bedding & especially the pillows, pure heaven. The pool was sparkling, a perfect turqouise in the afternoon sun, and a deep blue wash at night. Loved my evening dips, right outside my front door. Perfect way to end the day. Food was absolutely amazing kudos to chef, cocktails, amazing, ambiance, amazing. Its a large resort, but it feels intimate, like coming home. There's enough nooks for you to hide out and get some quiet time, if that's what your heart desires. Enjoyed my time at the sun loungers around the massive public pool area, and especially loved my dinners at Jua restaurant. This is the kind of place that's hard to describe all at once. My suggestion? Book your stay right now, then go out to Kwanza at Kizimkazi and live it up!

Nothing, loved everything!
