The hotel is perfectly located in the old town, Chantaboon. The rooms are very cute (albeit a bit small) but have everything you need. The decorations in the room (we had like a glass cabinet with old cups in our room) are really nice and give you that special feeling of almost living in a museum. The shower basin was actually an old timer wash bucket! The staff were really great and helped us also to get transport to Bangkok at a very reasonable price, which was great. The breakfast was also great. The small exhibition in the entry area is also very interesting and worth having a look at.

The rooms are not very big, and the stairs to the upper level were the bed is are not for the faint hearted, but we were ok with it. It also was a little bit noisy, which is why they provided ear plugs.

I stayed 3 nights Baan Luang Rajamaitri Historic Inn and enjoyed my visit! Beautiful old building on the river! LOTS of wood! Chanthaburi is pretty laid back and even more so when you hang out on the river and go for walks or enjoy a meal or coffee by the river. There are restaurants and coffee shops near the hotel. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Wifii was good and the breakfast was also good (3 to choose from) You eat outside near the river. Peaceful....The rooms were very clean and water was delivered daily. The bus station is close to the hotel. (Short taxi ride) If you want to chill and see a Thai town (not a lot of tourists), check out Chanthaburi.

It did not affect me but the stairs to the loft where you sleep are steep. If you are disabled or not very agile, this hotel is probably not you. I think there are photos on their website of the stairs. There was another hotel on the same street if you want to stay in that area.

The balcony overlooking the river was superb. We enjoyed looking across the river to the bridge with fishermen fishing underneath us most mornings. Location was great, the street was a quiet shopping street but very traditional and interesting. Off the beaten track and better for it!

Room could have been bigger. no space or rack for the suitcases/bags. Wardrobes did nothing but take up space

Local vibes, great facilities, comfortable beds, friendly & helpful staff, very nice breakfast. Highly recommend the rooms with balcony by the river. Each room is unique, like you're staying in an art gallery. I'm very impressed by the concept and the history of this place. The renovation project of this building aims to preserve cultural legacy while also serving modern functions, and most interestingly, contributing to the community's wellness via their social enterprise. Great work!!!

Keep in mind that it's an old wooden building, so you should be careful with your footsteps and avoid making loud noise. The room is not soundproof, meaning you can easily hear your neighbours. I wouldn't recommend this for families.

Charming hotel. Delicious breakfast. Wonderfully situated in the old town. Plenty of choice of restaurants. Loved the history of the building. The museum was very informative. The staff were charming and helpful

Hotel situated on a busy narrow road with motorbikes whizzing by. Hence traffic noisy and so were the passers-by . I didn't like climbing up a ladder to bed situated on a mezzanine level. Had to use the bathroom at night so had to clamber down the stairs each time

Great location and very unique, authentic building. Charming room. Very good breakfast on the terrace. Pleasant staff. I would definitely stay there again.

Staff barely speaks any English. It was no issue for us, but don't expect to get much information if needed. Steep ladder to get to the loft bed. Again, no problem for us, but could be difficult for people with mobility issues.

Great location for exploring the area with a good selection of restaurants close by. Good breakfast, cooked to order.

The aircon in our room was totally ineffective and as such the room was very hot. In fairness to the hotel, we did not report this, as we were only staying for one night, so they weren't given the opportunity to address this.

As the name says you’re staying in an old historic house, a beautiful wooden building, right at the river in the most atmospheric street of Chanthaburi. For the only 1 night we were in town we definitely wanted to have Baan Luang Rajamaitri as our base. And we absolutely loved this place! Fantastic room, super friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast. Chanthaburi is a surprisingly nice city, we wished we planned a night extra.

Nothing we didn’t like, but it might be good to know that the room (at least our room) was pretty small - especially when traveling with a big suitcase - and a bit noisy; while just next to the breakfast area, I hope other guests were not disturbed by our morning rituals…

This historic hotel has been beautifully renovated. Located on the river, it is comfortable and convenient to local restaurants and shops. The staff were super friendly and helpful and our breakfasts were delicious and generous.

Cute hotel in very good location. We changed our plans and wanted to come one night earlier - they were very kind and arranged everything. We then forgot charger at the hotel and they sent it to our next destination. So staff 100/10. Cute hotel in very good location.
